[CLAIM] The Duchy of Ferrara

The Duchy of Ferrara is located in the North of the Italic peninsula. Right below the countries of Milan and Venice, it stretches from the Mediterranean coast to the Adriatic coast, but it's separated on the middle by the city and lands of Bologna.

Upon the death of his father a few months ago (October 1534), Ercole II has inherited all his titles and now is the Duke of Ferrara, Modena and Reggio.

He is married to Anne of France, the daughter of the King Louis XII. And haves three children: Anna, Alfonso, and Lucrezia.

When he was young, he served under the French army and proved himself to the French he was useful ally to have. Marrying the French princess formalised the agreement.

With the current situation, the Duke sees himself surrounded by very powerful neighbors, but also by small republics, mainly on the Mediterranean side. He has opportunities to expand his dominions and influence on the region, but he must always remember that he is not alone and all these big countries have his eyes put on him to take advantage of any situation they might see benefitial. Duke Ercole will also do anything in his hands to maintain his friendship and alliance with the Kingdom of France in order to have someone to rely on if anyone decided to attack his lands.

Ferrara is also a center of culture in Italy, with painters, sculptors, architects and musicians from all of Eruope, mainly France and Flanders. He will try to maintain this situation and keep being a patron of the arts.

And finally, by expanding his borders in both sides, he will try to acquire more coastline and cities with ports in order to establish Ferrara as a powerful trading country.

Suggestion: Add Emperor Norton I to the title history of the Kingdom,Duchy and County of San Francisco (Repost because I forgot to actually write Norton's name in the original title [Bruh])

So in case you didn't know already Norton I was basicly a living meme and declared himself Emperor of the US in the 19th century.

Pretty much nobody took him seriously and nobody accepted his claim but the people of San Francisco loved the man, publishing his "decrees" and even following some of them. The "Imperial Norton Dollar" was widely accepted as currency and he became a huge tourist attraction. When he finally died thousands of people turned up to his funeral.

All this is why we can safely assume him to be some sort of pre-event hero-king of the Bayfolk ( At least to them ) and if we look at the fact that he is referenced as the first Emperor of California in the files and title history of the Celestial Empire we know that he is not only known to the Californians but that his (presumably far more controversial) claim to Imperial Dignity has been generally accepted by the people of the Empire.

If we now assume that he is not only a hero to the Bayfolk but also recognized by the Empire at large as Emperor we arrive at the logical conclusion that the people of San Francisco and the Bay would claim him as "their" Emperor and that the nobility and Kings of Grand Francisco would try to use him as proof that they not only could rule the Celestial Empire but SHOULD naturally do so as the Empire was "founded" by a man of the Bay who had wisely and rightly made San Francisco the first "Imperial Capital", using this to claim supremacy over the other warlords, the position of Guvernatus or maybe even the Mandate of Heaven itself.

The average Bayfolk peasant would probably view him as some sort of great mythical Guru (probably of the dove, especially if his "decree" about a League of Nations has been preserved or remembered) second only to The Lawgiver himself or, depending on the current political situation, as his equal or maybe even superior and "true founder" of California; likely being encouraged by the government.

>TL;DR:

>Norton good, Elton bad, thanks for coming to my TED Talk and I would like to join the Dev Team and help out with some of the lore, because this was really fucking fun to write.

[Team T Homebase] The Duchy of Piroska, West Walbrzych

His axe in hand, Manilius points the handle towards the defeated king. β€œAlright. I believe you promised me that you would join the war effort if I won,” the general begins. β€œWell? Was that just another bit of deception to trick me into coming here?” He looks around to the halberdiers with their lances pointed towards King Daniel. West Walbrzych’s king looks up for a moment before lowering his head. β€œ... no. I did promise you that much. But if you’ll forgive me, I can’t commit any troops right now. Right now I’ve got to gather the scattered divisions fighting in western Nicomedia and the ones here at home, in case King Hugh wishes to assert his authority over my little kingdom.” He looks up once more. β€œI have nothing else to say other than β€˜sorry,’ and it must mean so little. It’s been through my own shortsightedness that West Walbrzych soldiers have suffered against the Empire and under the servitude of King Hugh.”

Manilius looks back into the snowy landscape and waves over Sari. β€œI believe you know her?” he comments. β€œC-Captain Sari?! What are you doing with the Imperials?” King Daniel asks. β€œI decided our little war with the Empire was stupid, what else can I say, your majesty? Besides, I kind of like the lad and lass running this company here. They treat me well.” The general stands up and lowers his weapon for a moment. β€œRemind me again how you know the king?” She scratches her chin. β€œI’m the seventh daughter of the Duke of Piroska. I had no shot at inheriting any land and, frankly, I’m actually completely broke. I know the king because of my noble birth from some duchy, and a certain someone hasn’t allowed peasants to become officers.” The king looks away. β€œYou act like a band of people who have not been trained from childhood to lead armies of men can seriously hold up to the nobility, whose job it is to do that very thing.” Manilius leers at this. Sari taps her chin. β€œOh, that’s awfully weird, then, Danny. I could have sworn you just lost to a peasant. This one right here!” she says while pointing towards the Nicomedian general, and her voice gets rather vicious. He doesn’t respond. β€œSpeaking of that… hey, Manny?” she begins. β€œDon’t call me that,” Manilius responds softly. β€œWhat do you need?” Sari blinks a couple times. β€œTo go home. I’m going back to Piroska Castle.” The general holsters his axe. β€œIs it south of here?” She nods. β€œHuh. Well, my company will need a place to rest before we head back to the Empire, and I’d really not like to trouble th

Taking over the Duchy of Barcelona

So, I tried to take over the Duchy of Barcelona as the Kingdom of Aragon a few decades ago. And while I completely decimated their military, I only managed to conquer one province of theirs. While I do get a load of de Jure claims now, I can only pick on province at a time. This is frustrating, because I know my army can completely wipe out theirs in a swift stroke. Is their a way I can take all their land in 1 go?

Granted a duchy and am no longer the liege of the land

I'm playing my first real game of ck2 and as a petty king I granted a duchy title to someone, and somehow it became a petty kingdom title, so I no longer reign as liege over the lands.

I guess duchies and petty kingdoms are equally tiered, which I hadnt thought about. Can someone explain exactly what happened or point me towards a site that explains when you can or can't grant landed titles while remaining liege?

I kinda screwed myself over as I have a peace treaty with one of the counties in the duchy in question for another 9 years.
