A list of puns related to "Dual Enrollment"
The email starts: Hey Mrs. KMnO4
(Aside #1: In my response, I pointed out that I prefer to be called Dr. KMnO4. Which is clearly stated in the syllabus, all of my communications with the class, and in multiple places in the LMS).
That's followed by: I know I haven't turned in a lot of the assignments. Can you reopen them so I can do them by tomorrow? I will turn them all in.
(Aside #2: Tomorrow is the last day of the semester. This student missed 3 of the 4 unit exams, turned in almost no homework, almost no labs, and did maybe 50% of the quizzes, which are embedded in the lecture videos. They did do the first exam and the final exam, though. Unfortunately, they failed the first exam, and while I haven't graded the short answer parts of the final yet, I'm not optimistic that they passed the final.)
The email continues: I didn't realize not turning assignments in would be so detrimental to my grade.
It concludes: "If I don't pass I will fail. Please I beg."
(Aside #3: "If I don't pass I will fail" - why yes, that is how that works. That they felt it necessary to say that makes me wonder if they only just realized it themselves.)
Having learned from r/teachers, and some of the members of this sub, that HS students get 50% credit for assignments that they don't turn in, it's obvious that this student is a DE student. The fact that the student thought they'd be able to turn everything in this late in the semester is another indicator of DE status. I've had some oblivious freshmen, but never any who didn't realize how much it would hurt their grade to not turn in assignments or take exams.
Also, I have been updating the gradebook all semester, so they must not have been checking it or they would have seen the effect of all the zeroes on their grade.
My response was a very diplomatic "no", with specific mention of how it wouldn't be fair to their classmates.
I'm so looking forward to the follow-up email that I'm sure I'll receive tonight or tomorrow. /s I wonder if it will be from the student, or the student's parent/guardian.
Hello, I am a high school senior who really wants to go to UNC. I will have over 50 credits from a community college when I graduate and have gotten high Aβs in every class. Are these courses something UNC considers valuable like they value AP courses? Thank you!
Iβm thinking of doing dual enrollment either my junior or senior year or high school (sophomore currently) and I want to know your opinion between the two. I did AP Human last year and passed the class, but got a 2 on the exam. And I did AP World for one semester before dropping out because of the workload and now Iβm thinking of doing dual enrollment.
I can see both pros and cons of dual and AP.
Dual: Pros: college experience, donβt have to pay for the exam (although Iβm not 100% sure on this), you get college credit Cons: having to manage dual enrollment and classes during high school, credits possibly wonβt transfer over depending on the college
AP: Pros: college credit if you pass the exam, it can help you prepare for college, more challenging Cons: if you fail the exam you get no credit, making the class seem like a waste of time, the exam costs money to take
For those of you that do dual enrollment, why do you prefer it over AP classes? And vice versa for those doing AP classes; why do you prefer it over dual enrollment?
I see dual enrollment classes offered. What makes them better than regular classes? How do they impact your schedule? Do they help you GPA? Are they better than AP classes? Does taking these classes have any impact in college?
This year, I am going to be finishing AP Physics 2 along with AP Calculus BC as a highschool junior, and I've already finished AP Physics 1 last year.
I'm considering taking Physics CM and Multivariable over the summer at a community college (because our school doesn't offer AP Physics CM) and follow that up with Physics CEM & Linear Alg (1st semester senior year) -> another physics & Differential Equations (2nd)
The other option is to just take Multi and Mechanics 1st semester of my senior year and go from there. Any help would be appreciated! Thank you fellow redditor!
so im in highschool and i work really hard as im in ap and dual enrollment classes and this means I donβt get a lot of sleep every night but I make up for it after school as I sleep a couple of hours when I come back home. usually i come back from school, workout, take a shower, do some of my homework, sleep a couple of hours as i did not sleep well the prior day and then workout some more, eat dinner than do some more work, then I go to sleep at like 2 AM by the time Iβm done.
So I still get 8 hours of sleep everyday, but the thing is that I split it into different parts of the day. Will this be viable enough for long term gains?
I was recently accepted to UTK and have a number of dual enrollment credits from high school: Elementary German I and II, English Comp I, Human Anatomy, and a few others. All credits are from accredited colleges, one being a local community college in my home state (not TN) and the other being a well-known private college. Is UTK good about accepting dual enrollment credits and applying them to actual requirements and not just electives? Thanks.
How many ecampus classes can I take per trimester along with my regular campus classes and still keep my financial aid package and dorm residency? Is there a link with info on the OSU website?
iβm in my last semester of pre nursing right now and getting ready to apply to my adn program so iβm thinking about how i want to approach my end goal of getting a bsn
i currently work for starbucks and they pay for tuition to attend arizona state university online, which a lot of my coworkers do and love. however, since itβs online, they only offer rn to bsn courses, which sucks because i donβt want to keep working as a barista if iβm already licensed, especially since the hospital network i want to work for pays for your bsn if you donβt have one.
however, i noticed that they also have a concurrent enrollment program for students in adn programs. depending on when i start, iβd be on track to get my bsn a semester after graduating from my adn program.
has anyone here ever done dual enrollment before? is the workload too much or was it manageable?
Hi, everyone. I have a long, confusing situation I'd like to get help with.
I was enrolled in 2 community colleges at once and am currently taking a gap year. Since both colleges were in the same district and I was taking online classes, it made no practical difference from going to just one college.
My original plan was to transfer the credits from one of the colleges to the other to get an AS in Computer Science, then to transfer to a four-year school to get a BS in Computer Science. However, since I recently moved, I'm now planning to transfer my credits from both of those community colleges to yet another community college, earn my AS in Computer Science degree there, and only then transfer to a four-year to get a BS in Computer Science.
I have 3 questions:
Sorry for the long, rambling post, and thank you for any help!
Do any of you guys do dual enrollment? ngl it's so fucking based
I want to take a dual enrollment course but I dont think I can since it kinda clashes with my schedule. The course in mind is a psych 101 class. Is it better to do it online or in-person?
Iβm currently a senior and taking linear algebra at Georgia Tech. Iβm locked into a C and Iβm worried that it will hurt my admissions chances at the target schools I am applying to (Northwestern, Rice, Columbia), especially since I want to major in engineering.
I have a fairly strong profile apart from this grade (All Aβs, 5s on Calc AB/BC, Physics C, 1560 SAT, good ECs, rec letters, and essays) so Iβm hoping that these schools wonβt penalize me too heavily, even if it is my senior year and in a class related to my intended major.
Im also hoping that the high rigor of this class along with the fact that it is online will further offset my grade.
Basically, I think I have a competitive profile for these schools, and I want to know how badly this one particular grade will affect that. Obviously my chances in any case are low; Iβm just afraid that they will be near zero due to this one grade.
Thank you!
Iβm going to be self studying AP Physics cm and cem, and taking AP comp sci a at my school. I will also have finished calc bc when I become a senior
Iβm a junior in high school. Iβm about to start my second semester of this school year in January. I want to go to community college for 2 years and then transfer to a university. But right now I want to do dual enrollment so I can have a head start. I have a lot of missing credits which Iβm making up currently. I want to enroll in community college next semester and take a class or maybe a few while still being in high school. In high school you get 5 credits for each class a semester and in college you get 10. If I enroll in community college classes right now will those credits that I receive from those classes count as my high school credits? Or as my college credits? And letβs say if I complete all my classes and credits this year and in the college will I be able to just start going to college next year since Iβll be done with my high school requirements? If this doesnβt make sense feel free to ask questions I just rlly need help lol
I failed one class and it brought my gpa low enough to where I was kicked out I feel like a failureβ¦
I know my mom hates me now because I lost an opportunity and itβs my fault for not talking to people when I was struggling (as I often do)
Iβm just getting this off my chest before my mom yells at me for being a failure β¦
Is it possible to be enrolled in a university and a college at the same time?
Hey guys, I wondered if it looks good to colleges. I'm a senior with 56 college credits from my state university, and I have mainly a 4.0, but I ended my biochem class this semester with a B will that look bad to Ivy league schools. I was also wondering if prestigious universities take these classes into account when looking at my application? I started taking full-time college classes my sophomore year and have been doing it full-time ever since. I feel like I'm ranting, but I'm petrified I won't get into any Ivy League schools because most of those kids have 4.8's, lol.
Hello! I'm currently a high school student who has been offered the provost scholarship and I had a couple of questions about it. As I was looking at the requirements for the scholarship, I noticed that it states "Dual or transient hours taken at another institution will not be considered in the hours calculated for full-time enrollment for the purpose of this scholarship." Does this mean the dual enrollment credits that I have taken in High School will not count towards my degree? For example, if I took calculus II at my community college, will my credit for this course not be accepted if I am in the honors program? Thanks!
iβm a sophomore in HS with good grades, iβm planning on self studying APs, but iβve seen people talking about dual enrollment and saying itβs much better. what is that?
So I sent my dual enrollment transcript which included math 1111 to undergraduate admissions more than a month ago and it still hasn't been put into the system. Is that not the right place to sent it to? I need it to register for precalc.
I took like 18 cr. in high school and didnβt take them seriously. Why do med schools care about this? Do I have to report them?
I didnβt report them to undergrad btw
Hi I'm a freshman in Highschool with entry level classes for my school ie,
Algebra I, Eng 1, Ethnicstudies/health, elective, PE, and world lang.
I want to take dual enrollment classes because I live in a super competitive area and I don't have any super hobbies that put me ahead like on varsity sports and such. I'm chooising PSYCH 100, entry level basically because I'd heard colleges ask for elective classes and if true this would definitely help, however I would like to maybe try for 2 college entry level classes since I think I can do it.
I would like advice on a class I could take, and whether I should take two or not. Something nice abt psych is that there isn' prereqs. which is why I've barred myself from many math and science class. To reiterate, I'm doing most of this in hopes for credit in college so broad classes would be best.
Advice appreciated!
I am stressing out that my decision to take majority dual enrollment classes over AP classes was a mistake. Does it make a difference that I take the classes through the University of Alabamaβs early college program? or will colleges prefer students with majority APβs.
Iβm in 10th grade and Iβm thinking about dual enrollment.
How much does it cost?/is it free? How many credits can I take, and is it only for a certain amount of time? Like can i take some classes this year than more classes the next two years? Is it worth the time? Or should I just wait until I graduate? Basically any information you have about dual enrollment, Iβd like to know lol.
Hello!
What is the dual enrollment rate for an out-of-state student (e.g., per credit hour)? For a 4-credit hour online course (not the Distance Education Program, just a single Physics class with a lab --- it may be Vol, I'm not sure), I am totaling $1,000-$2,000 which doesn't seem right.
I don't expect a response from an actual representative from UTK as the college is closed in observance of Winter Break.
Whatever response I receive on here, I will make sure to confirm with a UTK rep. I just need an idea of what my bill may look like.
Thank you.
Has anyone here tried enrolling in the McAllen campus while attending TAMU here in cstat? It's so frustrating to see the McAllen campus have courses I need that I can do online, while I can't get the classes I need here without force requesting because everything is full!
