Why no Kirk downpicking talk?
I've been trying to learn enter the sandman (its a song by metallica) for a few weeks now, but whenever I go to downpick the main riff, I keep on hitting the tip of my penis. I usually lay it overtop of my guitar since it just gets in the way otherwise, but for whatever reason I cant seem to not hit it whenver I play. Normally this wouldn't be an issue, but it sucks when I go to play the riff and I feel my balls tingle as the pick hits my phallic region with over 500 pounds of pressure moving at 265 MPH (lowballed.)
If anyone else has had a problem with this, please let me know what you did to fix it, I bought rick beatos ear training course in hopes that he would shed some light on it, but he just yelled at me and gave me oboe scale practice sheets, so I dont really know what to do.
Yes James is the one who writes most of the crazy fast downpicking riffs but Kirk plays them just as well as James can. Like people praise James for being able to downpick so fast (rightfully so) but Kirk is literally downpicking the same exact speed as him lol
I've been playing guitar for quite a while and I mainly play metal, so you would think my downpicking abilities would be up to par but sadly it's not. I've been heavily focusing on improving my right hand stamina and technique lately.
Anytime I try to play fast downpicking my arm gets so tired so quick. No matter how much I tell myself to relax and no matter how much I actively try to stay relaxed, my arm still tenses up, even just a little, which becomes very noticeable. How do I stay relaxed? How do I downpick fast for long periods of time?
I feel slow, tired, and tense when I downpick fast. What am I doing wrong?
I’ve been practicing downpicking to practice rhythm playing, but after a while my shoulder and forearm start to burn. I tend to tense up when playing at a faster pace, anything above 170 BPM. Is it normal to feel like this, and is there any way to stop tensing up?
I learned the rythm of seek and destroy, but the bridge part is impossible of me to play at that speed with downpicking. Do you have any tips on how do I get faster?
Hello. I've been playing for a good while now and mainly play metal so I downpick a lot. Should I just ditch downpicking for the most part and just focus on getting really good at alternate picking instead when playing riffs and chugging?
is it possible to downpick fullspeed during the main riff in FFwF? I can't even alt pick full speed but I know people that can, so is it possible to do such a thing? I haven't seen anyone on YT or anywhere else do it for that matter.
EDIT: alright so I'm getting some pretty conflicting answers, but the majority seems to think it's near impossible, but there are people that can (I've still yet to see any proof.) So, here's my next question, what do you guys use to warmup to play at that speed alt picking? I'm interested in learning the song but it just seems so insanely hard and fast. Any YT tutorials you guys recommend?
PS: How the hell does James sing through the song wtf????
They pretty much play the same thing except kirk also gets solos on top of all that, they're both insanely amazing and it sucks how most people don't appreciate Kirk.
What Trivium song do you guys think have the trickiest downpicking?
A ton of people usually say ember but its not even the hardest on the album, i'd say fugue is much harder. Also have heard Insurrection quite a bit but im curious what you guys think
