A list of puns related to "Dixon Ticonderoga"
Has anyone lost their Dixon Ticonderoga^(ยฎ)? I found your pencil (referenced in Imgur link) on the floor in the Engineering Lab. PM or comment if you would like your pencil back.
I have 4 or 5 of the above mentioned pencil, and absolutely love them, I recently bought another box and I hate the new ones. So I looked at the two side by side and all of the ones that I like are a very pale colored wood while the new ones have very dark reddish wood, everything seems better about the lighter colored ones, they are more comfortable to write with, sharpen easier and cleanly, and seem to hold their point much much longer. Can anyone provide me any additional information?
First, a story. My wife is less than employed during this crisis so in her spare time she took a totally slick Peace Dollar and some tools at her old workplace and made this high relief hobo on her first try for you all. I think it's cool as hell. Proceeds from the sale will buy her a martini! I grouped it with a Sunshine bar to hopefully put some meat on those bones.
APMEX Spot = $17.37/ozt
I don't know if auctions are allowed but I'll give it a try until I'm shut down. Highest bid by the end of Memorial Day NY time. In $.50 increments please.
Well, auctions are not allowed, I apologize. Peace Hobo and Sunshine 1oz Bar Combo (57.833g total pre-hobo ASW). Asking $45! SOLD
This is my first time with a fancy table and I'm liking it, hopefully it works. Please comment if you DM or chat. Venmo, paypal, bitcoin, Google pay. Thank you for taking the time to look and thank you to all who served and had family who served on this awesome holiday!
It is, by far, the best pencil on the market. And let me tell you why: because the little nub of rubber on top of it actually erases things. I'm sure that other pencils had this feature too, long ago, but at some point in history, pencil makers everywhere decided that instead of a useful eraser, what consumers really wanted on top of their pencil was a shitty little piece of plastic that left a pinkish, streaky mess all over the paper.
But not Dixon. The Ticonderoga still can actually erase. And for that, I salute you, Dixon.
My charming back story:
When in middle school, you weren't a cool kid unless you used a wooden Dixon Ticonderoga 1388 #2 Soft Lead.ย So the other day I discovered that there was a mechanical Ticonderoga.ย Not only that but it touts itself as being the "world's smartest pencil"ย ย =)
TL;DR
I found that it scratches the paper a bit more than I expected.ย Is this normal for automatics? Any automatics that you'd suggest?
Edit: Thanks for the suggestions. I'll definitely try a softer lead for comparison. I've been meaning to buy some anyway just to test out. Also I'll check out that big step up.
Dixon Ticonderogas are the best pencils out there and they need to be worshipped.
Hey everyone so this has been bothering for quite some time now. Do any of you know why they stopped printing the full "Dixon Ticonderoga 1388-2/HB" with a "soft" printed in negative space on their pencils? They just print "Dixon Ticonderoga" with a "2" in negative space and "HB" both orthogonal to the "Dixon Ticonderoga" print. Was this something unique to the ones in the USA? I really miss them having the 1388 on them. I also can't seem to find anyone on the internet who shares my level of sadness over this. Thought maybe r/pencils could shed some light on this. Or maybe find someone else who is also sad over this?
Can we talk about the Dixon Ticonderoga for a minute? It is, by far, the best pencil on the market. And let me tell you why: because the little nub of rubber on top of it actually erases things. I'm sure that other pencils had this feature too, long ago, but at some point in history, pencilmakers everywhere decided that instead of a useful eraser, what consumers really wanted on top of their pencil was a shitty little piece of plastic that left a pinkish, streaky mess all over the paper. But not Dixon. The Ticonderoga still can actually erase. And for that, I salute you, Dixon.
EDIT: Lots of people trashing the Ticonderoga and trying to push the Palamaladingdong Black Wing 602. These cost $1.90 per pencil. And that is ridiculous. The good people at Dixon aren't going to rip you off like that. And you know what? They make a black Ticonderoga that is equally sexy, IF NOT SEXIER, than the Black Wing 602. AND a black Ticonderoga will only run you about 21 cents per pencil, which is a much better deal.
EDIT 2: Some people are trying to push mechanical pencils. Sure, people can use those. Mechanical pencils are all well and good. But here is why the Dixon Ticonderoga is better than any mechanical pencil.
The Ticonderoga has its graphite embedded inside of it. This guarantees that the graphite will never slip up inside of the pencil body if you press down too hard, which tends to happen frequently with low-end mechanical pencils. It may happen less frequently with high-grade ones, but it will never happen with a Ticonderoga.
You must sharpen the Ticonderoga. Some people may think that this is a weakness, but I assure you that it is a strength. After writing a few pages, you'll see that your once-sharp tip is now a dull nub. It's a fine indication of all of the work you've done thus far. That dull nub tells you that you've accomplished something. And once you've sharpened it and started writing again? Boy oh boy, there is no finer feeling that using a freshly-sharpened pencil.
Sharpening the Ticonderoga releases a delectable wood scent into the air. The wood used in Dixon brand Ticonderogas is of a high quality, and is pleasant to smell. This cannot be achieved while using a mechanical pencil without also purchasing some sort of artificial wood scent spray.
The Ticonderoga is made of wood. This means that the pencil is always pleasant to the touch. It has a solid, natural feel to it, which you can't get with low-grade mechanical pencils, which ar
They may be manufactured by the same company, but there are many fundamental differences. Personally, I feel that Ticonderoga (particularly soft lead) is the superior pencil; the eraser is more efficient even when pressing harder that necessary, and the pencil sharpens cleaner in both manual and electronic sharpeners.
