My tv is aSamsung RU8000. It only has digital optical out, no 3.5mm or RCA. It also has ARC which I think is sometime if audio via HDMI.
The 1700BTs only has Bluetooth and RCA. Is there anyway I could convert the RCA to optical? Bluetooth works with my TV but I’m worried about sound quality suffering.
If I can’t get this to work then my only other option is to get 1280DBs instead as it has optical connection. Or to get some other powered speakers in the same price range as the 1700BTs ($150 USD) with similar performance that had digital optical connection.
So I havent been able to test this yet, but a friend that often also complained of the max volume that the original homepods offer when set as the default audio output of the ATV4K said to me that forcing the ATV audio settings to Dolby 5.1 improved things for him considerably, and that the audio is louder, fuller, and the dialogue clarity better.
Someone has test this?.
On paper this does not make sense to me, as the best settings quality wise would be auto (so the apple tv does not reencode anything, losing quality in the process), which also allows you have Atmos simulation on the homepods.
But who knows.

I never apply this to digital items though, with the exception of avoiding brands such as amazon when it's doable.
What worries me about tangible, real-life products is their environmental cost (production and discarding), as well as the all too frequent slave or child labor involved in their manufacturing (and other stuff like animal abuse, etc). I have never worried too much about buying a video game or netflix though, since the environmental impact of these things seems negligible compared to say, fast fashion or the dairy industry. I have in fact stopped buying music albums precisely because they are not digitalised. I think in my head I "allow" myself to purchase this type of product because I don't buy real-life things very often.
What is your stance on all of this? Should I add this is an issue to take care of? Is it worth thinking about giving up these things, cable TV, video games or video game subscriptions, twitch, etc, or finding alternatives to them? Should I focus on something else? What do you guys do about it?
In general I know disc to digital is for individual movies, but are there any movie collections (bundles) or tv series that also qualify?

So our other TVs get channels just by plugging the coaxial in it but this tv doesn't have a tuner will this fix my issue?
