L’histoire s’est déroulée il y a quelques mois. Je reçois un appel d’un numéro qui s’affiche mais que je ne connais pas. La personne au téléphone se présente comme un employé du service fraude de ma banque, elle donne son nom et le nom de ma banque. Cette personne m’explique qu’il y a actuellement beaucoup de mouvements bancaires suspects sur mon compte et qu’il va être bloqué. Elle me dit qu’on va ensemble réaliser quelques actions afin de savoir si c’est vraiment moi qui ai effectué ces mouvements. S’en suit une vérification classique d’identité et la personne me donne mon nom et prénom, mon adresse et mon numéro de téléphone en me demandant à chaque fois de confirmer. Elle finit par me fournir les 4 derniers chiffres de ma carte bancaire, celle qui a été utilisée. Tout est correct. Elle me liste ensuite une dizaine de paiements avec des montants différents, parfois assez petits, parfois plus gros et me demande à chaque fois de confirmer que ce n’est pas moi.
« Il semblerait également que votre carte ait été liée à Apple Pay et nous allons la délier ensemble, j’ai simplement besoin d’un code qui va vous être envoyé sur votre téléphone finissant par ces chiffres », soit le 2ème téléphone lié à mon compte. A partir de ce moment, j’ai un léger doute. Je lui dis que je ne suis pas censé lui fournir ce genre de code. Elle me répond que ma méfiance est parfaitement normale mais que c’est la seule solution pour délier la carte et que je peux d’ailleurs vérifier le numéro depuis lequel elle m’appelle en retournant ma CB : effectivement, c’est même numéro qui est inscrit. A ce stade, entre toutes les informations connues de cette personne et le numéro de téléphone vérifié, je suis donc persuadé que c’est bien ma banque.
A ce moment, j’ai quelques problèmes de réseau et la communication est coupée. Par réflexe, j’enregistre le numéro inscrit sur ma CB et je nomme avec le nom de ma banque. Je reçois quelques minutes plus tard un nouvel appel, provenant du numéro de ma banque que je viens d’enregistrer. Au téléphone, c’est la même personne. J’ai reçu entre temps le code Apple Pay, que je lui fournis. Elle m’indique ensuite le reste de la procédure, les temps d’attente pour l’envoi de la nouvelle carte et me guide dans l’espace client afin de me montrer comment créer une carte virtuelle pour continuer à payer sur internet. Nous nous quittons sur des remerciements mutuels.

I found an authentic Poljot de luxe in my local pawn shop recently, and its in very good shape. Ive been obsessing over this model recently, but is it worth buying? I want it for my collection, but im scared to buy an old watch that may break soon. How reliable is the 2209 movement? I live in quebec so im not sure that if it breaks i will be able to find someone to repair it. I can get it for 90 usd. Original case and dial and all. Is it worth it?

I present to you a beautiful-looking fountain pen that definitely caught my eye when I first saw it. This pen is a Wearever De Luxe model and has a wonderful eye-catching green "Mother of Pearl" inlay in the body of the pen and a stunning reinforced 14kt gold nib. For full transparency, I purchased this pen off eBay and have restored the pen myself. It was in very rough condition and needed a lot of work to get back into working order. I am so glad with how the pen turned out as it writes wonderfully smooth with a hint of feedback and my preferred level of wetness. I tuned, smoothened, polished, cleaned, and restored the pen by myself and have even documented the process in a youtube video.
A little history research into this pen for you:
According to an article on penhero.com this pen is very peculiar as not much documentation has been found on this particular model with the mother of pearl style design. It is known that this pen is part of the De Luxe line of Wearevers seeing as the same kind of nib is present on this pen. Many of the design elements were taken from the Parker Duofold button filler which was made from 1940 to 1948 so this pen is estimated to be around that same era. One of the biggest differences with this pen versus a Parker is the nib and how it utilizes a metal frame to hold a 14 karat gold nib. This reinforced point frame design allows the nib to be flexible and even pleasantly soft and prevents the tines from spreading too much. "the nib will not have the full line variation and vivid shading and expressiveness of a true flexible nib. It does have the soft feel of flex and allows a rather wet, even line."

Recently received a 1942 Royal Quiet De Luxe typewriter that I bought over eBay. Looks to be in good condition.
Problem is, whenever I press a key, the carriage doesn't advance. Spacebar moves the carriage as expected, but every time I press a key, the carriage does not advance, and the space bar stops advancing the carriage. I followed the mechanisms that space bar activates, and if I give one of the little metal bars right below the carriage that is connected to the space bar, the space bar starts working again until I press another key. I know that's vague, but I'm not familiar with the jargon. So my apologies for that.
If I, a total typewriter newbie, can fix this issue I'll go ahead and keep the typewriter, as I'd like to avoid returning the item.
Was wondering if anybody could be so kind as to offer up a possible solution.
