A list of puns related to "Dance Notation"
Hi all, only really started with this all recently and one of the things I have trouble with is visualising/understanding how it all starts and ends.
So I looked at the text ( in my case Marozzo ) and tried to transcribe it into a codified manner. Mich like a plan or dance path.
So far so good - but if someone else has done it and from my brief look on t'interwebs nothing obvious comes up . Has anyone else tried it ? Links? from reading the somewhat confused writing of Marozzo it'll be tricky, but it can't all be like that .
Over the last few days I have been working on a Hungarian Dance No 5 guitar arrangement in E minor. Please give it a listen if you can find the time and let me know what you think. The link to the notation is in the video description if you wish to try it out yourself. I would call this an intermediate arrangement. Bars 13, 14 and 15 are really tough however.
I hope this turns out OK. This is my first attempt so comment, criticisms and suggestions are welcome
I am Shallanxdra Morningstar, a Jendari. For the last six months I have been living among Humans. Those gigantic, terrifyingly fearless humans, with their weapons, armour, and relentlessness.
Humans came to Jendar to aid us, to be honest, they came to save us from extinction. Were it not for the humans, we Jendari would no longer exist. Jendar had been invaded by the Khattarix, a huge, vile, and brutal reptilian species, that claimed we Jendari were invaders on our home world. They claimed our world was theirs according to an ancient prophecy, and that we were an offence to their god. They were intent on purging what they said was our offensive existence from Jendar.
The Humans called Bullshit, to use their term, and came to drive the Khattarix back to their own space. The Khattarix have no morals and kill as much for pleasure as any other reason. They see killing civilians as the sporting side of war. They even held competitions to see who among them could kill more of us in a set time.
The human view of killing civilians, or medics is well known, and when they learned of the hunts their plans changed. No longer content to drive the Khattarix back to their space, they now set out to exterminate them. They destroyed almost every Khattarix ship in orbit, those that ran did so with a hunting pack of human ships in pursuit. Humans are persistence hunters, there is no escape.
For our safety all non essential civilians, and all children were evacuated from Jendar. Being a musician, dancer, and most importantly to the humans, a mother, I was a priority for evacuation. My young twins Zoelle, and Shantara saw our evacuation as an adventure, and were excited. I knew of humans as a warrior race that no one dared go up against, and what I had seen on Jendar only reinforced that image.
We were placed on a human ship to take us to Earth. It was a rapidly repurposed passenger liner. Comfortable enough , but being surrounded by humans was rather unnerving. We Jendari are a small species. We women average 1.2 metres tall, our men 1.4, and we weigh between 30 and 55 kilos. Humans are about 2 metres tall, some closer to 2.2 and weigh between 100 and 140 kilos, terrifyingly huge to us. Spending the next indefinite amount of time among humans was not something I was looking forward to, but my concern for my childrenβs safety stiffened my spine.

Welcome to Day 25 of the r/indieheads Album of the Year 2021 Write-Up Series, our annual event where we showcase pieces from some of our favorite writers on the subreddit talking about their favorite records of the year! Today, we have u/danitykane on Lingua Ignota's SINNER GET READY.
August 6th, 2021 - Sargent House

BackgroundΒ by /u/danitykane:
Lingua Ignota is the American singer, songwriter, and instrumentalist Kristin Hayter. Her music draws from varied sources, including extreme metal and classical, striking a noisy balance between the harsh and the serene, mostly the former. Her first two albums were self-released in 2017: LET THE EVIL OF HIS OWN LIPS COVER HIM and ALL BITCHES DIE.Β The waves they made were enough to earn the latterΒ a rereleaseΒ on an indie label, making the way for 2019βs CALIGULA. That album truly broke ground, Hayterβs vocals only giving you enough beauty to take a breath before dragging you into the fires of hell. Guttural, grating, and, in Hayterβs own words - βuglyβ, the album depicts the cycle of abuse in a way that many might consider gratuitous. Theyβre wrong, though: in its extreme, it is refreshing and honest. The best thing about her music is that it doesnβt βshine a lightβ on issues surrounding abuse and violence; it grabs you by the face and forces you to see the stories as they are and how they affect people. Itβs not easy music to listen to, and Iβll admit to some of it testing my personal taste level. Even so, it is impossible to not respect the craftsmanship and power on display here.
In 2021, Hayter announced the followup to CALIGULA, the confrontationally-named SINNER GET READY with the release of the self-produced video for βPENNSYLVANIA FURNACEβ. Much of the metal influences from her previous work were turned down in favor of an Appalachian folk sound, but the trademark intensity remained. It arrived on August 6 to rave reviews, including a rare perfect 10 from Anthony Fantano, setting off a wave of discourse and introducing Lingua Ignota to n

The first 5 points cover some of the techniques you need to master to play Chopin on the piano, and the second 5 points focus on expression, how to take your playing from being just note correct to a piece of beauty.
Chopinβs work is beloved for its depth of expression that is just built in to the music itself. These five points will help you tap into that and show you how you can begin to interpret the music in your own unique way.
This might seem like a obvious one, but the tricky part comes with knowing what level you are as a pianist and what level a piece is.
The goal should be to work on a few pieces at a time: one that you can nail in a couple of weeks, one that will take a month, and one that will likely take longer. You can use level numbers to help you figure that out, but itβs also important to pay attention to the specific skills that you struggle with the most, as that will add learning time onto pieces that have those skills (at least until you get comfortable with them!).
Examples of skills would be fast arpeggios, chromatic scales, homophonic (chordal) playing, large leaps, things like that.
While you can use the many level numbering systems out there to serve as a sort of guide, you do need to also look through a piece and pay attention to the skills youβll need to play it.
If you havenβt played any scales at all ever, itβs probably not a great idea to play the Etude in A Minor, Op. 25 No. 11, βWinter Wind,β for example. Itβs full of fast arpeggios and scales that go up and down the entire length of the piano.
Etude in A Minor, Op. 25 No. 11, βWinter Windβ
If youβre new to Chopin, Alfredβs has a great book of his easier pieces: Chopin: An Introduction to His Piano Works.
Additionally, you can visit IMSLP.org (free, public domain sheet musicβjust donβt click on the adsβ¦Iβve had people do that and given their credit card info awayβ¦you wonβt need to enter any payment info on IMSLP). First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
i did this two years ago when ateez had 46 songs and now they have 101 songs!!
also some japanese versions of songs have a slightly different instrumental (e.g utopia and aurora) so that's why i added them all again!! it's was fun for me so enjoy!!

WARNING: this is a very long consideration on classical music for beginners and what I am trying to do here is to introduce a method. I'm not trying to objectify an art or create a rule that'll work for everybody. There's a lot of exceptions thanks to the beautiful variety of human beings.
Classical music is somewhat of a difficult topic to introduce. The fact alone that it started around the 11th century with the invention of modern notation and that it shares solid bonds with all the recurring cultural movements that history has provided us make it kind of difficult to introduce new people to this music.
Where do I start? What's the best period to approach classical music? The first thing that should be done is dividing the whole history of classical into the different periods with approximate dates:
Ancient classical music: V to X century (500 - 1000)Medieval music: X to XIV century (1000 - 1350)Reinassance music: mid XIV to mid/late XVI century (1350 - 1575)Baroque music: mid/late XVI to mid XVIII century (1575 - 1750)Classical music: mid XVIII to early XIX century (1750 - 1820) (this one is kind of debatable)Romantic music: late XVIII to mid XX (1770 - 1940) (Birth of Beethoven - Death of Rachmaninoff)Impressionistic music: late XIX to mid XX (1860 - 1940) (kind of debatable)Modernistic/Avant-Garde music: XX century to present day (1900 - )
Trying to initiate the listener to classical music by chronological order is, in my opinion, a terrible idea. The least appetizable sub-genres of classical music for beginners would be Ancient to Early-baroque, Modernistic and Avant-Garde.
This happens because there's a lot of change in common taste along the time (Music in medieval times was mainly sacred or sung in old languages or exctinct ones like Latin, while most of avant-gardistic music is supposed to be listened to after the assimilation of major composers' repertoire).
Also because of a thing called "Common Practice Period": it's a lenghty period in music history that includes the Baroque, Classical and Romantic period. This Common Practice Period groups all the classical music genres that use the same exact concepts of harmony and theory which are still used in pop music today, and that's why they're clearly easier to listen to rather than a mass by Pierluigi da Palestrina or a piano concerto by Bartok.
So, let's just consider these three music periods: Baroque, Classical and Romantic. Think about it: it's like processing music with a gigantic s

This class is a bit unconventional in that rather than seeing classes one or two times a week throughout the year, I see the same group of students every day for 6 weeks, and then they rotate to a different special for the next 6 weeks and I get a new batch of students.
Since I came in after the school year had already started, I completely missed the first group of kids and only got about 3 weeks with the second group. I am nearing the end of the third rotation and still don't feel like I have a strong vision for what this class should be. I took a beginning class on general music techniques, but it focused more on early elementary ages (Pre-k through 2nd or 3rd grade), and my fun choir activities and solfege warm-ups are only getting me so far with the 5th graders.
So my question for you all is: what would you do with a solid 6 weeks of 5th grade music instruction? What concepts would you prioritize, knowing that these 6 weeks are your best chance to recruit for your choir/band next year? Any ideas for activities that are not "too childish" for 5th graders, but also don't go completely over their heads?
Hello!
First of all: happy new year! Lets hope 2022 will be a better for festival organizers and of course for us as hardstyle lovers. I hope to bump into all of you at one of the festivals this year.
Last year I created a small tool that scans Spotify playlists and provides some interesting statistics Spotify's algorithm generates about the tracks in the given playlist.
Because a lot of Redditors seemed to like the list of 2020 I decided to scan the Q-dance Hardstyle Top 100 of this year as well. I've used the list as provided by u/janzee2 in this post. You can get a copy of the file via Google Drive.
Let me know if you also like a list of the Masters of Hardcore Top 100 of 2021 and if you like this post and if you think it should be a yearly tradition.

I was living in San Francisco at the time with some weird people (I may have been weird myself). One was involved with groups like the Cacophony Society, SRL, and other fun, dangerous, marginal types. At the place I was working, a group of people decided they wanted to go to Burning Man. They asked me if I wanted to go but I had never heard of it and wasnβt sure. At home, I asked my weird roommate and he said, oh yeah, you should go. Iβm going early to build.
So the work group and I went up in an RV that seemed mostly functional. I was not driving and I may have been the only sober person on arrival - to that I canβt attest 100% but I was immensely thankful to be parked in any case. Glad to be alive, thus began a series of life-changing events.
Since I was just along for the ride, I didn't stay in the RV. Before anyone had to tell me, I was thinking radical self-reliance - I knew I was going camping in an environment that wanted to kill me, I brought a little tent, a few gallons of water, a lot of granola bars, and some medicine that I need to stay alive. No shade structure, probably a flashlight and a costume. I heard that it was a place where you could be weird, so I fashioned a robe from muslin cloth and decorated it with physics formulas which I was fascinated with and felt reflected my sense of how the world was.
Where ever we camped was not too far from the man but unlike modern years, there were not many around us and no one close. If I had to guess and I am probably totally wrong, we were around the modern notation of 4 oβclock and D??? I donβt recall roads at all.
Where to start.
Rave camp was quite a ways outside of town. The βroadβ to it was marked with little surveying flags. At night they were hard to see and not particularly closely spaced. Walking to Rave camp was a journey in of itself and for me somewhat of an adventure. I did not have a flashlight or it was not effective but there was a moon - I recall my faint shadow that seemed to flicker with purple flames. I did see cars passing but none came close to me at all which I was thankful for since I wanted to walk and obviously it was dangerous - again as most know it was a tragic year.
The walk itself was externally uneventful but one of faith. Since the path markings were not good and fairly quickly once leaving camp, you can neither see where you are trying to go or where you came from. There was no vegas-dwarfing light/sound shows to guide you or any landmark. I walked in as much

My partner and I are thinking of choreographing a routine to perform at a local swing event some time in the next couple of months. We've both been in various performance groups and have performed choreographed routines before, so are not stressed about that aspect, but we've done precious little choreographing ourselves. We think we have a fairly good handle on what we want to dance, and we know how to match moves to music etc, so we're not too worried about choreographing the dance, we are (or at least I am) worried about how we're actually going to write it down, and record it so that we don't forget it in between rehearsals.
Does anyone have any advice on notating swing routines, or any favourite personal techniques they use? The last time we choreographed I notated it bar by bar (as I'm also a jazz musician), which worked well as we had a short spotlight in a larger routine, but I'm concerned that that technique might not scale well to a larger routine...

TL;DR -> It's a good program geared for those who have already completed a 4 year BS in an unrelated field. I am glad I did it, and I would do it again. Those looking to switch careers with a modest interest in software development should give the school a look over. You will get out of the program what you put into it. Do not expect hand-holding through the program and be accountable to yourself, and you will be just fine. At the end, you will be rewarded with a diploma, no fine print, no asterisks: A Bachelor's of Science in Computer Science.
For the rest of you who want the long form of this, buckle up. I'll try to cover my experience from school selection to getting my first FT job, exhaustively.
I was in my early 30s working a well-paying job in an unrelated field but had a wife and kids so I had to be very strategic about how to go through a career switch. Fully online was the optimal choice for me.
I applied to and was selected for a Masters in Software Engineering at a different online school. I went there for two terms, and left before the third started. It wasn't for me for a variety of reasons. Initially, I passed on OSU's Post-Bacc CS program because I had no idea what it meant and questioned, "Is this a real degree?" I wish I did more research, because yes, it is a real degree. No fine print, no asterisks, no footnotes on the diploma. You finish the program with a BS in Computer Science from Oregon State University.
I applied to OSU in the late summer of 2019, and was accepted in about a month. There is NO rhyme or reason to the acceptance process, and crystal balling it on this sub-reddit definitely doesn't make a difference as far as I have observed.
I used my Post 9/11 GI Bill (it's a military thing) and employer benefits to fully cover my tuition. My employer used EdAssist which also gave me a 10% tuition discount, so for those who are FT employed already, that might be something to look into. That being said, I really can't speak to the money piece of this. I can say that as of the time of writing this, the University is charging $527 per credit, which in turn will run you about $2,100 per class or $4,200 per an average term.
I completed the program in 1.75 years. This was the path that worked for me, but many students do it in 2 or even 2.25. It's situationally dependent on your life.
Nothing, he was gladiator.

1. Sarjana:
Sarjana wandered onto the Bhramanakaniβs command deck.
As chief engineer, she was allowed to do that now.
Not that it had stopped her in the past.
βHow we doing?β she asked.
βWeβre in orbit as of seven hours agoβ¦β Sanem replied distractedly.
Sarjana nodded.
βWeβre here thenβ¦β she almost whispered.
Sanem looked up from her console βBoggles to think?β
Sarjana offered a weak nod.
This was the first time in centuries that a Pugnas had truly entered a star system.
Beyond the odd gravity assist, the fleet had cruised in interstellar space for its entire history.
Now here they were, anchored in perpetual free fall around a star.
It felt surreal.
Well, it was two stars to be exact; HD was a binary system, with a yellow dwarf the mass of Sol, orbited by a cool, dim and distant red dwarf. They were far enough apart though that they functionally behaved as distinct solar systems, each with its own planets, asteroids and other bodies. Yet gravity bound them together, as they orbit each other in an eternal dance.
Sarjana turned her attention to the map displayed on one of the consoles.
She had seen this map before on multiple occasions, studying the geography of the system.
Alami had once had a map obsession; subjecting Sarjana to a deluge of cartography factoids.
Looking at the console before her however, she couldnβt help but chuckle.
Alami wouldnβt have been lost with this map.
All the maps Alami had shown her were planetary maps, displaying assorted parts of Asal, and the occasional fantasy world. The map before Sarjana however displayed the void, and a truism of space is that nothing ever sits still.
Where mountains, rivers and oceans could be pinned to unchanging paper, planets and moons orbited in constant motion, gravity pulling them along imperfect, inclined ellipses.
To display such information on a static map was a foolβs errand.
As such, the map before her moved forwards in time, displaying the movement of planets, asteroids and ships.
She decided to track the planned trajectories of the fleet.
Small exploratory ships set off to myriad worlds; refugee ships followed in order to establish refineries and mining stations.
What caught her attention however, was the ma
