^(SUCK. THESE PARROT. NUTS.)
Hi all so i've been looking at getting a burrowing parrot for a little bit i have had birds before as a kid (budgies and cockatiels) but i did read that burrowing parrots can carry the herpes virus asymptomatically so i was wondering what other bird species can i keep with them without health risks to them or the parrot ?
Pros for a parrot:
Could send messages, say threatening things, bite people, and wear a small pirate hat.
It does not need much food and would be fine with cheap, nonperishable food like hard tack.
If you say "Pirate" in a funny pirate voice, it sounds like "parrot".
Cons for a parrot:
Small, weak, poops all over.
Pros for a monkey:
Funny, could help with basic tasks, could throw poop at people. Could also wear a small pirate hat. Is a monkey.
Cons for a monkey:
Eats fruit, which goes bad quickly. Naughty. eats a lot.
Iβve got a green cheek conure who is very attached to my wife and I. We got her as soon as was feeding herself and had her for about a year before the pandemic hit. That means sheβs very used to us being home all the time and I know itβs gonna be hard on her once weβre eventually out of the house working regular jobs again. Pretty much every pet owner is in this situation but I feel with the complicated psychologies that parrots have, everyone here is gonna have to have a real plan in place. Thoughts?
I have a bunch of villagers on an island in the middle of the ocean, and itβs really boring without the threat of pillages. It would be cool for some pillagers to spawn in regular boats in the ocean, then have them exit their boats when arriving on land and beginning a pillage. Maybe they could drop the new telescope as well, with some having swords and/or parrots?
Edit: instead of or in addition to banners, maybe some could have big fancy pirate hats?
I was thinking about it for a while and I think Toy Foxy maybe had a pet parrot before their dismantlement. Due to the fact with the random extra head. Why would they have an extra head for the attraction for no reason at all? The attraction was putting Toy Foxy back, not multiple animatronics, so I think maybe the extra head was a parrot or some other companion that was apart of Toy Foxyβs gimmick. What do you guys think?
So I've had my cockatiel for 9 years. For reference, I'm 24 and just graduated college, so I've had this bird all through high school and college. I had to go away to college and couldn't take him, and unfortunately, my mother's health at the time led to her not being able to get him out much so he stayed in his cage most of the time. Poor bird, I feel so bad for him, but it seems to have taken a toll on him. He seemed to be pretty bored pretty often, rarely playing with toys and rarely talking/singing. Ever since I've graduated I've been getting him out more and he seems to really like it. He's talking a lot more, starting to learn new words, etc. I'm really glad I'm able to help him be happier and less bored.
While I have been able to get him out a lot more, I am still working 40hrs/week from home so I can't spend as much time with him as I'd like to. For the last year or so, I've been considering getting another bird which could help potentially when he is bored while I'm working. Most of the day when I am working he just sits in a couple spots and sleeps. Id imagine having another bird to play with would really help with this. I've been considering getting another cockatiel or even like a conure.
The only concern I have is that sometimes my tiel can be aggressive towards fingers. Recently I've been trying to train that out of him and he seems to be doing well with it, but I worry that getting another bird, he could train it to follow similar behaviors.
I just wanted to reach out and see if anyone has been in a similar situation and could provide some advice. I've been considering getting a dog for a while, but I think getting another bird might be a smarter idea for my bird and me. Anybody got any advice?
Thanks!
Does anyone remember it or know of it?
Hello all! I have an eight year old GCC, Ezio. I've been thinking about getting a second parrot but I want to get something that will get along and be a buddy for my first feathered child. I have a second large cage so they won't be living in the same space or anything like that but I want to have them get along when they are out partying. What's your suggestion? What birdy combos have worked for you? Thanks in advance!
I've been able to find some info which seems to tell me that pirates really did have parrots, but finding names and other relevant information has been hard to come by!
Not quite ready to get my birb just yet, but i know that i want a green cheek conure... i also know that sometime years down the road, when i hopefully own my own home, id like to get an african grey. My question is, could these 2 birds make good companions/company for eachother? With the proper time, patience, and introduction of course. I know african greys are extremely high maintenance and often benefit from having company all the time. Any thoughts or experience is greatly appreciated :)
