A list of puns related to "Collegiate A Cappella"
Hellooo!
I'm in a collegiate a cappella group in a university that has so many other a cappella groups, and we're starting to brainstorm innovative/creative ideas for fundraising.
Wanted to reach out and see if y'all know any efficient and fun ways that groups can raise $$!
Hi, as the title says my A cappella group is looking to start competing. We're certainly not ready for ICCAs, so we wanted to look around and see if there were any other options for competitive collegiate A cappella. And I know I said Tri-State but my group wouldn't mind travelling a bit out of our way, So really anything on the east coast would suffice. Thanks for your time!
Edit: Forgot to add weβre based in New Jersey
Looking for something in the SF Bay Area that is mostly people in their 20s/30s. Is there a website that aggregates groups? Most of what Iβve found is an older crowd. I just graduated college a few years ago and am looking for similar aged people to sing with.
HI AGAIN GUYS! Last year I posted about how the Water Boys, one of our very own all-male a cappella groups, made it to the 2017 ICCA finals (and were the second Canadian group to ever do so).
Well, it looks like 2018 is about to be another big year for Canadian eh cappella because for the first time EVER, a regional ICCA quarterfinal is going to be held in Canada ... and not just ANYWHERE in Canada, but HERE ON CAMPUS at the University of Waterloo!
Guys, this is a HUGE deal. (Yes, I know I said that last time but it's still true!) The ICCA has been happening since 1995 and even though it has the word "international" in its name, its biggest focus is in the US. Ever since UW groups began attending in the early 2010s, we've had to travel to compete, and our opponents have almost always been American groups (and when it's not, it's ourselves due to the sheer number of groups we have LOL).
However, now that a quarterfinal is being held on home soil, we've gotten a lineup of 100% PURE CANADIAN A CAPPELLA GROUPS -- also a first! Check the list out here:
This means that AT LEAST TWO Canadian groups will FOR SURE be moving onto the ICCA semifinals. It also shows that there is plenty of demand in Southwestern Ontario for a quarterfinal, which is sure to help Canadian groups in general in future ICCA tournaments.
And while UW wasn't the first Canadian university to compete at ICCA, we are THE FIRST ONE EVER to host a part of the competition (and man, is it a lot of work)! Again, THIS IS HISTORY IN THE MAKING!!!
Our quarterfinal takes place on Sunday, February 18th at 7PM in the Hagey Hall Theatre. Check out the Facebook event page and buy tickets here.
Shoutout to Yang Chen for really leading this initiative and to members of the [UW A Cappella
... keep reading on reddit β‘Hi, I'm the music director for the UMass Dynamics at UMass Amherst, and we're trying to raise money to fund a new album for next year. I figured there are probably plenty of other A Cappella directors here, so what has your group done to fund events/albums?
This is my first post to /r/livesound, bear with me?
I was wondering what the ideal setup for a collegiate a cappella group's concert would be. Individually mic-ing every person isn't feasible (there are 16 of us, we A) don't have the budget for that and B) don't have the space booked that would accommodate that well even if we could afford it.)
The setup we usually use is 3-5 solo mics (one for Bass, one for Vocal Percussion, one for soloist, sometimes 1-2 more for additional soloists/featured vox). I was wondering what the best way to mic the rest of the group would be? What type of microphones and in what position for setup (assuming the group is standing in an arc).
Thanks for any help you guys can provide!
I was in love with a cappella in college, but unfortunately dropped out of my group in Junior year due to depression.
After college I moved to New Hampshire, and was lucky enough to get into a Boston based group.
Obviously there just aren't the resources or environment for the same a cappella experience one can get out of college in a post collegiate group, but so far the people seem awesome, close knit, and talented.
What kind of opportunities are there for non-college groups? I miss the ICCAs, the semesterly concerts, CD recording, and I even miss the 3x a week rehearsals.
Does anyone have any experience with a post-collegiate group? What kind of gigs do you get involved in? Do you record?
Thanks!
We've had good luck getting hits for auditions on /r/Bostonmusic previously so I figured it wouldn't hurt to try again.
All voice parts are encouraged to audition! More information can be found on our Facebook event, or if you're ready to sign up already, go ahead and fill out this form and we'll be in touch.
Feel free to PM me with any questions!
LETS GO BOYYYYYSSSS VANDY 4+ ALL THE WAY
yeah I get a lot of programs load the 8+ but still a huge program first and personal victory
Switching from University to HS teaching was extremely eye opening: you all (and now me) have an endless well of thankless work that is physically and mentally draining with dwindling autonomy and respect. I know adjuncts have it rough with pay and benefits, but when I hear my tenured or adjunct friends complain about workloads I cannot roll my eyes hard enough! Teaching 4-5 classes and not having to lesson plan each class/each day plus all the benefits of professional and personal autonomy is hardly something to complain about in comparison to what k-12 go through daily. Rant over. : )
Hey, I was wondering if anyone knows of any collegiate level leagues in the US for halo infinite? For next spring.
The weather seems like it is going to be beautiful this weekend, so I figured it would be my last chance to get up in some of the higher altitude trails before the snow takes over. I will be heading to Buena Vista/Twin Lakes area to hike, but haven't settled on a trail as I don't really know what the conditions are like there right now. Some of the hikes I have looked at are north of the Collegiate Peaks, others south.
The first trail I am looking at is north & has an elevation of 11,500-12,800, going to Independence & Lost Man Lakes.
https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/colorado/independence-and-lost-man-lakes-via-lost-man-loop
The second trail I am looking at is south & has an elevation of 10,700-12,100, going to Ptarmigan Lake.

If the general consensus is that both of these trails are going to be too snowy already, I will likely just go on a short hike around Lost Lake then head up to Independence Pass Overlook on the way home. Thanks for any advice anyone has!
