A list of puns related to "Ciprofloxacin"
I was prescribed ciprofloxacin and I've read there are risks of tendon injuries while on this med. My question is if I should avoid lifting during my one-week course.
From what I gather, the risk is there regardless of activity level. Save for a possible infection, I'm healthy and injury-free right now.
I'm hoping to get answers from people who have experience in this area or have a relevant background -- not the stuff I can get from a cursory Google search, which I've already done.
I was prescribed with 10 cipro for 5 days for throat infection (cobblestone throat)
I was discharged from the ER this morning after a week of bloody diarrhea x10 daily and given a script for these two antibiotics. I was diagnosed with UC in June of 2020 and had symptoms back in 2018. 2020 tests show I had antibodies to c diff but no active toxin. Iβm scared to pick these meds up because antibiotics are known to make these symptoms worse for me. I have an appointment with my GI 1/4
All my std test came negative, but i still have symptoms. My doctor told me i could take this combination of antibiotics. What do you think? Anyone that also took this combination?

I posted recently about my issue in another post here. I've been experiencing frequent urination since August, which I thought was because I was consuming more water and proteins in my diet. It started off mild--just maybe once or twice every few hours, but it has worsened in the past 5 weeks. Now, once it starts (if I drink more than 2 cups of water or any other liquids in an hour), I'll be going up to 4 times in an hour, and it feels like I'm not completely emptying my bladder. I get a strong urge to urinate, and it feels like I can barely hold it. About 5 or so minutes after urinating, I feel a slight urge returning. I also have a very dull right flank pain in my lower back that comes and goes, and usually feel it either while standing for a while, or moving around while sitting. I have a mild burning sensation while urinating, and it appeared to be slightly cloudy a few times.
I've had several tests done, checking my urine and blood, and a recent KUB ultrasound, that all came back normal. My doctor suspects that it is a UTI, despite the negative test results, and that since I feel right flank pain, it may have reached my kidneys. Apparently, it may have come up negative on the urine tests because I had an antibiotic treatment for a sinus infection back in November.
The doctor has prescribed me Ciprofloxacin for 2 weeks, and wants me to follow up with them after seeing the urologist. Is it okay for me to take them without a confirmed UTI diagnosis? Does it matter that I had an antibiotic treatment for a different issue (sinus infection) back in November? Is it possible that it may actually be some other issue that shares the same symptoms as a UTI or kidney infection?
Iβm a pharmacist at an independent retail pharmacy whoβs wholesaler is McKesson. Weβve been unable to get cipro 200 & 500 for a few weeks now. Iβve noticed that for the very few bottles that are available, theyβre priced at a couple hundred bucks. As someone else mentioned, we are having troubles with novolog pens, and a few neb solution strengths.
Hi fellow achy breaky sacks, Anyone one had success taking Ciprofloxacin.
I've just been prescribed 1 week course of Ciprofloxacin after no improvement with 2 weeks of doxycycline.
I have a horrible ear infection from what I believe is the mites. My doctor put me on Ciprofloxacin, 20 MG prednisone for severe inflammation, and another floxin antibiotic ear drop. It's caused up to a 103.6 fever, so no question I need the meds. But, he couldn't even see in my ear to look for mites. It was swollen closed. Do I need to stop Ivermectin for now?
hello, i took one dose of 500mg cipro and now i can feel my muscles are getting sore and my upper back pain that i have been feeling pre-cipro felt worse. i don't have magnesium or any other vitamins here in our house. will my symptoms get worse if i don't take supplements asap?
For those who have taken Ciprofloxacin and had the side effects, how long did your last?
I took Cipro for 14 days and I have been having joint issues in my legs for a few days now and wanted to know. I finished my prescription a week ago.
I took cipro twice a day for 5 days for a UTI about 3 weeks ago. Since then, Iβve had this tightness/cramping behind my right knee. If it gets stiff (like when I sleep) and I stretch it out I wake up to a charley horse. During the day it feels tight. Not super bothersome, but getting more noticeable for sure.
Could this be a result from taking cipro or is it something else, maybe more serious?
Thanks!

I went to the ER today with blood in my urine, urgency to pee, bladder pressure, pretty much text book symptoms of a UTI. Doctor did a urine sample and determined it was a UTI.
I was prescribed ciprofloxacin 2x a day for 5 days. Once I got home I read that this medication can have some serious side effects and usually doctors donβt prescribe it unless other treatments workβ¦ Iβm scared now. I had one UTI about 15 years ago.
Is this a normal medication doctors prescribe? Should I be worried?
Iβm a 22 M, 5β11 and around 200lbs. I have an eye infection and was prescribed Ciprofloxacin eye drops yesterday, and Iβve been seeing bad things about Cipro in pill and capsule form when itβs used to treat other things, like it causing permanent problems, but I canβt find if that includes the eye drops or not. I was wondering if anyone can help me with that. Iβm kinda worried about using them now.
If so, how did it work out?
Iβm two 500 mg pills in and I felt a stinging sensation after peeing twice last night which I havenβt felt in weeks, Iβve just been having testicle pain. My testicular pain also seems to be diminishing. I havenβt felt the sting this morning. Could this mean itβs killing off the bacteria which has been in some sort of dormant state? The thing is, I am scared to take any more because I began feeling some discomfort in my left Achillesβ tendon after walking around, it doesnβt hurt now but I know it can become much more severe if I continue to take it. I also had the most vivid gory dream last night ever. Iβm thinking of taking just 1 or 2 more and stopping after that, and limiting how much I walk as much as possible. What do you guys think?
Hi,
So obviously it's not as simple a matter of, "I take drugs, they give me money. Done." It's a several month affair involving blood testing, urine testing, fecal testing etc.
Some of their stipulations are mildly inconvenient but overall easy to do (e.g., not consuming more than X amount of caffeine and alcohol over the duration of the study) but other stipulations make me more uncomfortable (e.g., abstaining from ALL probiotics and prebiotics. This is hard because yogurt and sauerkraut are currently staples in my diet and I also like to consume Kefir periodically).
The stipulation that is most concerning to me, however, is the application of antibiotics. There are four conditions in this study and (like any good study) participants are randomly assigned to one of the four conditions. Two of those conditions involve taking antibiotics (the third condition being placebo, fourth condition being a probiotic).
In short, there is a 50% chance I am assigned to a condition wherein I get the antibiotics.
Frankly, I'm not sure what I should do here. On the one hand, $1,000 is a nice chunk of money - certainly the most remuneration I've ever been offered in exchange for participating in a research study.
On the other hand, I wonder if it's not worth the damage it might cause to my gut biome. Especially since I have, in the last few months, been putting effort into taking care of my gut biome by purposefully eating fermented foods and upping my fruit and vegetable intake. It seems kind of sad to just nuke everything for the sake of some money, which frankly I don't really need per se (though it would be nice to upgrade my computer, buy some nice furniture, replace my mattress with something more supportive etc.)
Obviously, the best course of action is for me to go to a research database and do my own investigation (if I have access to the databases via my university, I might as well take advantage of it) starting with meta-analyses and systematic reviews re: long term effects of cipro and metronidazole etc. (and I do plan on doing this) but this will take a long time.
To complement what I plan on doing later with something a bit more quick (and taking advantage of the fact that someone on this subreddit might already be quite knowledgeable on the matter), I'm hoping to ask you:
**What would you do in my position? Would you risk nuking your gut biome with the aforementioned dosage of ciprofloxacin and metronidazole for one week in exchange for $1,
... keep reading on reddit β‘If you took ciprofloxacin, did your side effects go away after you got off the meds?
Long story short- I went to the ER a week ago because I was experiencing extreme pain in my abdomen, high fever, and diarrhea. Doctor said I have bacterial gastroenteritis. He prescribed me 20 Cipro 500mg for 10 days and 30 metronidazole 500mg for 10 days. I have had a dull headache (nothing too alarming Bc I struggle with headaches often) but today I had a strong headache in the back of my head? I really feel the pain when I chew. Iβve been looking up things about Cipro and itβs freaking me out. I donβt want to put anymore of this in my body. Itβs been a week, shouldnβt the bacteria be gone by now? Itβs so scary to me how I canβt feel safe with doctors anymore. Someone please help, I donβt know what to do. Side note- Iβm a 24 year old generally healthy female.
Has anyone taken this antibiotic combination to treat SIBO? Was it successful?
Doctor prescribe me ciprofloxacin 250mg pills to take for 2 weeks , recommend that I cut one pill in 2 , and had one half in the morning and the other at night . Decided to do some research on it .. And yikes .. I donβt wanna take it but the pain β¦ anyone have any knowledge about this drug ?
Thanks !
For me it was recent, colitis. Or in other words bacterial gastroenteritis. 500mg twice a day for 10 days. Only 5 pills left. Oh the mental strength I need to finish the course. I hate the side effects. Debating on just stopping bc Iβm playing doctor (not smart, I know) by convincing myself 7 days should be enough to kill the bacteria in my tiny body.
My doctor prescribed me 14 days of doxy and 10 days of Cipro but my worry is that it may not be effective especially considering that Iβve taken 7 days of doxy + azithromycin before and it didnβt clear my infection
This is the second time this is happening. I also didn't poop for a few days first I had taken cipro few years ago, and once I passed it, it was the biggest stool I had ever passed, and extremely painful. Now I am again constipated.I have drunken tons of liquid. I don't want it to be that painful now. Is it because it is destroying my biome? Why is this happening.
I was trying to take the pill but I kept gagging so after a while it was nearly completely dissolved so I swallowed that and then chewed the last little bit. Iβm a 14 year old male, 5β9, 108 pounds
6 months ago I developed urethritis after masturbation. Urethra is red and inflamed, itchy.
What should I do next? Which antibiotic? I did culture swab, E.Coli, K.Oxytoca and E.Faecalis showed up but Bactrim doesnt help.
Is there possibility that Azitromycine or Doxycycline will help me?
my doctor has told me that it won't conflict, but I'm always so scared of stuff like this, and would feel reassured if another trans woman can vouch for that. 50mg Spiro, 8mg estradiol
A random youtube comment response has had me unravelling what might be the answer to why I developed dysautonomia. 5 years ago I've been treated with an antibiotic that was likely Cipro. This paper states one of the possible side effect might be autonomic system damage/dysautonomia (apart from multiple other disabilities, depending on the case). Let me say, this is outrageous!!
