I got the opportunity to open for a fairly big artist. The promoter said i had to pay $2000 in order to perform. Is this normal?
So I bought a painting in June from a local artist. Contract said two instalments, one deposit and one before pick up, it’s maybe a 10 inch square painting. I paid both and picked it up. I got an email earlier asking for the sales tax to be sent because the artist procrastinated on doing their taxes. The contract I signed doesn’t have anything about this. And honestly I barely have enough money right now. AITA for not planning on paying it? I also work for myself and know that I have to save income tax on every cheque I get. How is it my problem if this person didn’t figure this out or state in the selling contract there would be taxes on top of the sale produce? I’m getting mixed answers from people. I’m all for supporting local but I can barely afford it now and the painting seemed fairly priced to begin with.
Hi, I’m a digital collage artist who does surrealistic work that captures the essence of an entire dream. Rather than just making a snapshot of a moment in a dream, I aim to create a sense of the transitions within a dream and how the various elements in a dream are intertwined. Much of my work is drudged up spontaneously from my own subconscious but I also like to take a description of an actual dream and see if I can create a visual image that captures it. I have done a couple of my own dreams and a couple of others’ dreams but I would love to move further in this direction.
If you would like me to bring your dream to life (no charge) here are the ground rules:
You must provide a detailed description of your dream including all of the key characters and elements, important transitions and how events in the dream made you feel. If you have some idea of what the dream meant to you, provide that as well but it is not mandatory. Sometimes the meaning alludes us and the mystery is the theme.
I am almost certainly going to use some artistic license. I will consider feedback and make changes at my own discretion. However, I am very unlikely to make major or multiple revisions and may not make any at all.
I retain all rights to the artwork and may sell or distribute it in any way I like without your permission. If you want to use the artwork you need to have my permission.
