A list of puns related to "Cec"
My application was rejected today with the following explanation:
>"Specifically, your application does not include the following elements: The Police certificate from Mexico was not provided."
However, the page for obtaining a certificate states (bolding is mine):
>How to get a police certificate – Mexico:
>
>(...)
>
>Police certificate and IRCC requirements
>
>You don’t need to provide a police certificate with your application. We’ll send you a letter requesting a police certificate after you send your application for permanent residence or citizenship. You must bring that letter when you apply for a police certificate.
This info is from their "How to get a police certificate" page linked from the document upload page. I asked here for confirmation of this interpretation, and was reassured that it wasn't needed now.
I'm in a panic. My PGWP expires in November and I can't afford to lose my job.
What are my options?
I am a Canadian citizen. My wife applied for EE CEC and received AoR on January of 2020.
The biometrics and medicals were all completed shortly after in February 2020. After that, we received a request for additional documents in May 2020 which we promptly provided. We have not heard anything from IRCC about the application since then.
We have tried sending webforms and calling frequently late last year but always received the same response about COVID. I have e-mailed our local MP for assistance but they only provide information on the application status. They are still reviewing eligibility, completed criminality, but have not started security check, and the medicals validity have been extended. We order GCMS notes almost monthly now but they do not indicate any changes or issues on the application. They did not provide any insight as to why they are still reviewing eligibility and could not start security after such a long time.
We are just lost as to why the application is taking so long for "express" entry when others who have applied this year already received COPR. We would like to ask if anyone here can share if there are any options for us at this point? We are considering lawyers but not sure what help they can provide. If anyone has stories/experience about similar processing time but was approved in the end, we would love to hear it.
Thanks!
So, on a (perhaps unwise) whim, I picked up an LG C1 to compliment my Xbox Series X (previously from a Samsung Q70R).
Picture quality? Excellent. Even before the 120hz.
Everything else? So far....surprisingly meh.
Has anyone gotten CEC to work between an LG C1 and an Xbox Series X? Because it was practically seamless with my Samsung Q70R, even with an old Vizio Soundbar no less! Meanwhile, not only can my Series X not control the LG C1's volume, the C1 can't even control the volume of the soundbar. The later is pretty forgivable (can't help it if LG doesn't want to play nice with anyone else's technology), but CEC being virtually useless (I think it turns the TV off? Maybe?) kind of smarts after LG makes you sit through a dozen screens about their "Magic Remotes" when they can't do something Samsung worked out 3 years ago.
It's not necessarily a deal breaker as to whether or not I keep the TV, but I wanted to see if anyone had figured out the magical combination. So far, updating, switching HDMI ports, futzing around with LG's annoying "Devices" settings, etc., nothing has worked.
I have a Samsung TV and sound bar, connected to a Shield TV through HDMI arc. Recently within the last 3 weeks, powering the Shield on does not power the TV on and the sound bar does turn on, but not set properly to the HDMI arc source. I know there was a recent update to the Shield and curious if anyone else is experiencing issues with this? Any ideas? Thanks!
For clarity, my setup is:
Shield to HDMI to Samsung input hub box
Samsung sound bar to HDMI to Samsung input hub box
Samsung input hub to Samsung TV
Doesnt appear to be working with my LG CX whereas my chromecast 2021 works fine, id like to keep the ATV in a press under the tv, is this possible?
Hi! I was wondering if I should take CECS 274 and CECS 277 in the same semester. I am not sure if I need to know topics from 274 to take 277.
I just recently added an LG soundbar to an LG tv that has a ATV connected to it. I did hdmi out of Apple TV to hdmi in of soundbar and connected hdmi out of soundbar to HDMI1 (ARC) port on TV. When I sleep the Apple TV, the ATV shuts off, the soundbar shuts off, but the tv stays on. I made sure CEC was enabled on HDMI1 on the TV and also checked all Apple TV settings. Any thoughts on what I could be missing here? The ATV turned off the TV previously with no soundbar, however this soundbar was used on a different tv with a different ATV and everything did turn off so now I’m really not sure what could be the issue here….
Just got an apple tv had it all set up perfectly where the apple TV would turn the TV on and off but all of a sudden this has stopped working. Same HDMI Port
Samsung TV model ua55hu7000
Any ideas?
Updated my tv this morning. Apple TV now puts the tv to sleep correctly.
I have an LG CX and my TV automatically detects the PS5 through CEC and it even displays a remote control icon on the input, however it does not work at all.
On the Xbox Series S it was automatic, it detected in the same way that the PS5 did, however, when I click on the arrows of the smart magic remote control, it navigates through the Xbox UI.
On the PS5, if I click on the side arrows, nothing happens, if I press up or down, it just shows the "Input" ribbon, saying something like "PS5 - HDMI4".
Does anyone have any idea why this happens and how to fix it?
Edit: some minor typos
Hello everyone,
I would appreciate any help. I have applied to CEC a couple of months ago, my NOC is 0, and I have completed 1 year and 8 months now in this job of full time.
My question is, will it affect my application if I leave the job (or move to a new job in another NOC) or increase/decrease my hours? I am getting mixed answers everywhere I ask, so I wanted to make sure before planning any move. Do I have to notify IRCC if I changed jobs? and if so, would that in any way affect my application which is currently under process?
Your help is much appreciated.
I got the latest Apple TV 4 yesterday. One of my TVs is older and the CEC stuff just doesn’t work with the ATV.
Well, while setting up the remote yesterday I had an epiphany. Apple allows you to train the new remote with volume up, volume down, and mute.
I almost never mute so instead of mapping my TV remote’s mute button to the Apple remote’s mute button, I mapped the TV remote’s power button to the Apple remote’s mute button.
Now when I want to turn that TV on and off I just hit mute. It works perfectly.
If there’s a better solution for someone I’m my situation, I’m all ears but this is the best I could come up with. I’m just happy to now only need one remote.
Has anyone gotten a copy of it yet? I still don't know why they took it out
I was recently emailed about the CEC program and was intrigued. I then realized that actual engineering design is not a part of the program at all. I am going into my third year at Cal Poly, currently studying civil engineering, and I know that I want to go into structural engineering. If I do join CEC, how prepared would I be to join the structural engineering workforce after fulfilling my five years?
I'm having an issue where HDMI-CEC volume controls aren't working on my Xbox Series X. I have my console connected to a Hisense brand TV and it won't adjust the volume when I attempt to with an Xbox Media Remote or through Google Assistant. Turning the TV on or off with HDMI-CEC works fine, it's just volume controls.
I have done the usual troubleshooting steps such as: •turning HDMI-CEC off, restarting the console, then turning HDMI-CEC on and restarting again. •Doing a full shutdown of the console.
I have submitted my CEC application. I am on PGWP which is valid till 2023. I am only going for 3 weeks in July and do have a job that I'll be coming back to (I'm already employed there for 2 years). In this case can I travel outside Canada without any impacts to my CEC application?
So long story short, we ended the employment on bad terms, and my employer won't sign me a letter of employment.
I currently have pay stubs (showing tax deductions, as well as the hours, works biweekly), and a manager who is willing to provide a signed letter of employment for me detailing my job duties. I don't have T4s because I started working here in February of this year.
But here is the problem; I worked for my employer, but he paid me to work for another company in collaboration (financially, kind of like a joint venture). So while my paystubs will show the letterhead of the company I was paid by, the letter of employment from my manager will be coming from the company in collaboration (the company I actually physically worked for).
Should it be enough to include the manager's witness that I was paid by company A but that I worked for company B, with a list of job duties?

Hi all, long time lurker on this sub here! I just wanted to share my journey. After an excruciating 11-month wait (I know some have had it worse), my application was finally approved.
** EDIT - sorry about the formatting, I'm on mobile
AOR - June 16th, 2020
Medicals - passed on August 12th, 2020 and then passed again on April 27th, 2021
Biometrics - October 16th, 2020
Ghost update - May 11th, 2021
Portal email received - May 20th
According to the gcms notes, my eligibility was passed on Oct 31st. Criminality was passed on May 11th 2021 (I guess that's what the ghost update was).
I can't believe this process is over. I've been so anxious for the last few months. If anyone has any questions or wants to know more about the details in the gcms notes, please let me know. I want to help.
I’m sure many people are in the same boat. I looked through this subreddit but couldn’t find any related post so I’m posting this. I applied on May 6th under the international student category but haven’t received any communication/update from ircc after that. I will be eligible for CEC in three weeks and wondering if I should withdraw my TR 2 PR application and apply CEC. Afterall, CEC has been around and we have some idea of the processing times unlike TR 2 PR.
I discovered a way to 100% reliably get the TV into the no power on state (which I also discovered is not entirely accurate, the TV can power on using the smartcast app, but it still won't a picture, despite the info saying it's displaying a picture. Sometimes you can even get audio to pass through to a sound system). I can say with confidence that this is a CEC bug.
Bug reproduction steps:
Original Setup:
Vizio Oled55-H1
HDMI 1 (eARC) - Vizio Elevate P514a
HDMI 2 - nVidia shield pro 2019
HDMI 3 - Playstation 5
TV CEC on
Shield CEC settings:
Turn on TV when shield wakes - ON
Set TV input to shield when shield wakes - ON
Turn off TV when shield sleeps - OFF
Wake shield when TV powers on - OFF
Sleep shield when TV powers off - ON
Sleep shield when TV input changes - ON
From shield input (HDMI 2) using IR remote (either vizio or shield) to change to any other input will cause the TV to go into fail state (all tests done switching from hdmi 2 to smartcast). Switching inputs via CEC successfully makes the switch. Switching inputs via Smartcast phone app successfully makes the switch.
Turning all shield CEC options OFF allows the TV to switch input via IR without going into fail state.
Turning TV CEC off allows TV to switch inputs via IR without going into fail state
Shield CEC settings matrix to isolate the problem settings:
Above settings numbered 1-6 to avoid typing them again.
1 on - OK
1,2 on - OK
1,2,5 on - OK
1,2,5,6 on - FAIL
1,6 on - OK
1,2,6 on - FAIL
1,5,6 on - OK
2 on - OK
2,5 on - OK
2,6 on - FAIL
6 on - OK
5,6 on - OK
I stopped here because the results seemed clear.
A combination of CEC setting 2 and 6 will cause the fail state. Interestingly enough, if 6 is on and you enable 2 the TV will immediately go into a fail state without even changing inputs
other things that I have noticed can cause the TV to go into fail state: TV turning off via auto power off timer.
As a side note, the auto power off timer may be one of the causes of the eco power setting turning back on on its own. The auto power off should probably be disabled when eco power is turned off. It also randomly turns back on after soft resets but I can't find any rhyme or reason why it doesn't happen every time the reset is done.
Owners, try turning off CEC and see if the power on bug keeps happening. I don't know how to extrapolate these results with the shield to other devices, but there's definitely something going on wit

Just want to share that I got my PR Card in mail yesterday! I received my e-COPR on May 4, 2021.
Devices in question:
Apple TV4K
TCL 6 Series
Sony STR-DH790
Ideally I want to use the Siri remote for everything. Don't judge, I really like it. It works, but only sort of. I have the TCL set up to when it comes on, it turns to the receiver input where I have my ATV connected. The problem is that it only works like that when I use the TCL/Roku remote. When I power the system on with the SIRI remote, I have to grab the other remote to select the avr input that gets me to the ATV. Any insight would be appreciated.
Samsung TV (nu7100) is connected to a Danon amplifier (x1500h) with an HDMI cable. The amplifier is also connected to an android set top box and a PlayStation 4 with an HDMI cable. On all devices the HDMI CEC is set to work. Before connecting through the amplifier the CEC worked smoothly but after connecting the amplifier in the middle, the CEC does not work. In addition, the ARC from the TV to the amplifier does not work. Has it happened to anyone? Is there a way to make it work?
I've got an issue with the latest 2nd Gen ATV 4K connected to my TV via HDMI and trying to work out if it's a TV issue or an ATV issue.
Note this is the first time I'm using a TV capable of CEC to control multiple AV devices with one remote.
When I press the Power button on the ATV remote, it fires up the ATV, the TV and the Soundbar no problem, but it also triggers the display of the the TV's native Smart TV home screen. So I have to then fetch the TV's remote and press Exit to get back to the ATV Home screen.
This is obviously not convenient as we're having to juggle 2 remotes just to turn it On to watch something.
Anyone else experiencing this? Do you think it's an ATV issue or the TV?
I've had issues with CEC from the start. I got my Samsung Q90T in February and my PS5 in March. Whenever I turn off my Xbox Series X, my PS5 will automatically turn on and switch the HDMI input to its input. I've had to just disable CEC for PS5. Sometimes I just wanna stop playing for the day but the PS5 just turns on. Never had CEC issues with Xbox.
I wanna mess around and pinpoint whats going on cuz I would love to be able to use CEC going forward on PS5 but before I finish playing tonight, I wanna see if having the PS5 completely off will help fix this issue. Or does CEC even work with PS5 being off vs rest mode. I know Xbox can.
Did anybody else lose connection with their CEC devices with this update? I can't find my receiver and other devices on the CEC device list anymore and audio is no longer being routed through my receiver and only plays through TV speakers. I've tried everything from restarting to resetting my TV and power cycling as well but to no avail. Can't control switching on and off the TV with my Apple TV anymore.
