A list of puns related to "Carbonari"
I'm always intrigued by how these groups and parties got started and carried out their work when they were secret and illegal, and certainly couldn't run candidates for office or anything like that.
edit for the theme bot, if it can see me: I wonder how they attempted subversion of the government
I played as France and I wanted to Proclaim Carbonari Italy but after the war against Two Sicilies and Piedmont-Sardinia I never got anything else relating to Italy and I ended up quitting after a while.
I’ve always found it interesting to evaluate the history and turbulence of late 18th-to early 19th century France through the lens of the turbulent life of the Marquis de Lafayette. This man seems to have lived about twenty lifetimes with huge ebb and flows that could see him either imprisoned or on top of the world as a national hero. But how did his reputation in France shift over the course of this eventful existence and past his death? I’m particularly interested in the diversity of French opinions on Lafayette- and how one’s political station and ideology factored into how one would view him. And past his death, how did political events like the revolutions of ‘48, Napoleons ‘51 coup, and the Paris commune affect his posthumous reputation? Was Lafayette more in vogue when France was in a more liberalized state, and more controversial when it was less so? Was his crowning of Louis-Phillippe viewed as a betrayal of republicanism by more leftwing French persons? Furthermore, how did Lafayette fit contextually into the French understanding of their revolutionary past through the 19th and 20th centuries? Sorry for all the questions, I love French history and Lafayette in particular.
