A list of puns related to "Butyric"
Style is a heavily hopped tropical sour.
This was my first (intentional) kettle sour and I may have gone a bit fast and loose on preparation as I'd done at least one accidental kettle sour pretty successfully when my boil got postponed for a few days. I used a multi-priobiotic with 8 strains of lactobacillus, which may have been the culprit. Long story short, the souring--and especially the boil--smelled like death. But the offensive odor is subsiding.
Might there be a beer here, or should I avoid putting good hops after bad?
Or.. is it simply the case that the other methods are just more attractive?
Soemthing heavy duty is seroquil you can use and also Valium and Xanax and other benzos to mellow you but Iβm sure there may be other better options maybe even all natural herbs. Anyone have any ideas of things they use that could help others soothe themselves or a friend in need???
I have recently learned about these (related) supplements. They very intriguing to me, potentially helpful through a number of different pathways, and I have noticed for some time that butter seems to have a mildly soothing effect on my digestive system.
However, I'm having trouble finding much specific info, and thus am having trouble deciding which of the two forms to try and what brand. Does anyone out there have experiences or info to share?
Thanks.
I don't know if this is the right subreddit but basically I (17F) got butyric acid on my hands today in chemistry class and I can't get the smell off. If you don't know what it smells like, it's similar to the smell of puke. I've tried washing my hands with salt, dishwashing detergent and toothpaste. Toothpaste managed to cover up the smell really well but after an hour the smell came back. Overall it's been like 4 hours since I got it on my hands. I've tried to go to my family members but they just think it's funny when I'm having a massive sensory overload over this shit. Anyway, any help would be appreciated.
I had a previous post about my first batches of Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon having burnt rubber smells after 5 weeks of malolactic fermentation. Following some advice from that post, I splash racked them both after making sure malo had fully finished. That was 2 months ago. I just racked them today and the Pinot smells just fine. Unfortunately the Cabernet now has a slight bile smell according to my wife. What can I do to mitigate any butyric acid at this point? Any help is appreciated.
I couldn't tolerate L-glutamine because it gave me stuffy feeling on my stomach. I couldn't tolerate probiotics because it gave me a cramping pain on my stomach. So I was recommended to take Butyric Acid to cure my gut.But tiny amount of Butyric Acid gave me a serious anxiety and depersonalization symptoms which I had 5 month ago. Luckily it subsided in 10 minutes but I was horrified....
Anyone has experienced this? And how can I cure my gut without L-glutamine, Probiotics and Butyric Acid. GI issue and food sensitivity are the only thing I concern these days..I thought I was doing well these days, but I'm tired guys.
I've made cider and beer before, but I decided to make a combination of the two called "graff". I used this relatively famous (and basic) recipe for about 1.5 gallons, which I poured straight into a sanitized 1.75 gallon keg, purged with CO2 and using Lallemand Windsor yeast.
I used a spunding valve to ferment at ~5-10 PSI at 65F for around 2.5-3 weeks. However, my temperature chamber failed on, like, the 4th day and only during that 24hrs, the temperature was at ~75F. After 3 weeks, I left it at room temperature for 8hrs to make sure the yeast was done, then I cold crashed for a few days.
HOWEVER, the brew smells like barf! The taste isn't awful, but the smell is strongly butyric acid. I've tried purging the headspace with CO2 a few times, but no dice. Also, given that I fermented in a pressurized, clean keg (and given the relatively "okay" taste of the cider), I don't think there was an infection.
So why does it smell soooo bad, and what can I do about it? My guess is that the Windsor yeast is to blame. I picked it because it's low attenuating, but people online seem to hate it. Also, I wonder if I didn't introduce enough oxygen initially? Maybe I was TOO worried about exposing the wort to air...
As a side note, for anyone that's interested, see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Butyric_acid#Biochemistry for more about butyric acid which is one of the short chain fatty acids that gets produced
So I was bitching to my friend the other day about international shipping fees. She asked me what I was ordering online and so I told her (Indoles). Turns out she had some Indole 3 Butyric Acid (plant growth stuff)
So..... Can I use Indole 3 Butyric Acid and will it have the same properties as (just) Indole?
I had a beehive removed from my home today. The be keeper used what I think was butyric acid to help remove the bees. My whole house stinks horribly. To the point where I'm starting to get concerned and considering if my family should leave the house.
Should I be worried?
Thought this might be a relevant place to ask this, as I didnβt get much feed back from the general Supplements subreddit. Iβve read that butyric acid is good for gut health, mood, weight loss, sleep, etc. But Iβm getting very different reactions to it depending on time of day. I take it in the morning, I feel unbelievably tired all day. I take it in the evening and it seems to make it harder to get restful sleep. Anyone have any experience with this?
Ran my infected wheat bourbon mash today which reeked of puke during fermentation but had eased after I let it sit for a few days (figured I'd leave it for the esters to change from puke to pineapple slightly)
Used my packed column and 2x 3" bubble plates. Gave a long period of full reflux and pulled the distillate very slowly at first. After the fores/early heads cut was taken, I then pulled about 150ml of distillate that smelt like fresh pressed pineapple!
After this the rest of the run was clear (from first impression anyway), will put on oak tomorrow and see how it turns out
Hi everyone! As an American, Iβve recently found out that much of our chocolate has butyric acid in it, which explains why it tastes so off. Are there any particular brands you recommend that steer clear of the ingredient? Thanks!
My previous secretsanta ventures have been a success and my specialty is energy drinks but I can get you anything. Fun fact we donβt have the doctor flavor of monster in the US but I enjoyed some in π©πͺ
Anyone have any experience with these? There have been a few posts about Butyrate but limited replies (sub seems to flood with βIβm having a bad day postsβ; not that Iβm not guilty of this.)
There have been some studies of Butyrate levels being lower in IBS patients, and Butyrate levels rising in FMT recipients. The part I find particularly interesting is that dairy products and resistant starches play a critical role in levels of Butyrate and are typically problem foods for IBS patients.
Iβve had IBS for the last 10 years and am certainly passed the βsolution in a bottleβ phase but there seems to be some legitimate science here. Iβm going to give it a shot and see what pans out.
Butyric Acid has a lot of research supporting it's benefits for gut biome/intestinal health. Beta-Hydroxybutyrate is popular in the keto community as a exogenous ketone. Do these substances share some or most of their therapeutic properties or are they entirely different?
Hi all,
Am having some great success today after being completely stuck for a while.Ordered and just started taking today ButyrAid
I've had several 'calls' to the bathroom today, with increasing quantities each time.Starting with pellets, and then to better formed longer things - if you excuse the detail.
Also I'm having proper squeezing of the muscles going on, like what it feels like when you take a laxative - but this is automatic not stimulant driven.
My gut also 'feels' better - like the nerves in my gut are feeling a good sensation, like scratching an itch or someone rubbing your back - positive nerve sensation. This feels directly linked to me actually feeling much better mood wise - like instead of flat, depressed, and empty; some signs of some joy/presence emotionally.
I had a similar initial effect when starting colostrum recently - things started moving and I felt better - but then it all stopped again. Here's hoping this one is permanent!
