I married into a Filipino family and have been quite successful at replicating some food/desserts for my husbands family. Cassava Cake is one of their favorites and one a make often. I would like to surprise them with a slightly more difficult (yet still authentic) dessert. Any ideas? I am in Bay Area CA with easy access to Filapino grocery store. Thanks!
It's located all the way over on the other side of town, I'm very rarely down there and I thought well I'll not get this opportunity again until months later, might as well spring for my favorite Buko pandan dessert.
But for the first time, my body was like, you're satiated from your lunch. I was still full, and this dessert was not a nutritious meal. And I just WALKED AWAY YALL. IF has changed my response to temptation, my propensity to give in and say just this once, I stay satiated and don't indulge unless I'm under my calories for the day/ haven't eaten yet.
Small step for humanity, huge flipping step for me. I feel like a normal person who checks in with her body and says hmm, but you're not actually hungry. It's been revolutionary, thank you thank you thank you for IF and this sub, I feel like it's done a number on my mind and I'm all the way here for it.
Just grateful y'all, so this is what normal/ healthy feels like.
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
Do your worst!
I'm surprised it hasn't decade.
