A list of puns related to "Browser Toolbar"
Maybe it always did this, but is only now an issue with Firefox 96, but every time I restart Firefox, my old Theme which is a Dark Theme forces browser.theme.toolbar-theme to 0 causing things like popup menus (Downloads) and the Manage Bookmarks window to be in Dark Mode. It also caused the browser background (BEHIND the webpages) to be dark, so it flashed dark before it loaded a website, but I've managed to fix that specifically in userChrome.
I don't actually want dark mode. So far I've been trying to manually figure out how to get individual things back to white, and now I'm at things that have text and things, too. Downloads popup, Downloads Window and Bookmarks Window, Status popup for things that are loading.
This sucks.
TL;DR: looking for an alternate browser with a dropdown toolbar in full screen mode.
I'm on macOS, and use Safari as my main browser. 99% of the time I put it in full screen mode, with "Always Show Toolbar in Full Screen" unchecked (You can find this in the View menu; it's the first selection listed). It works by filling the entire screen with the website. The toolbar is missing, but you can conveniently retrieve it by moving the mouse cursor to the top of the screen, and the toolbar will drop down temporarily, until you lower the mouse cursor again. I absolutely love this feature, and can't imagine not using it anymore!
That said, I'm finding Safari to be really slow, and when it's running it even slows down other apps on my screen. I don't have many add-ons, I've tested without, and I still get the same problem. Antivirus scans show my computer to be clean.
Now, I have tried many browsers, including several more obscure ones, and none of them have this feature. Does anybody know of a browser that runs on macOS, and has this feature? I'd really love to switch browsers, but I love this feature too much to switch until I find something with the same.
the thing upwards with tools, bookmarks, history etc etc etc. can't find a way to enable it.
thanks in advance
Just recently got into online privacy and Iβm using a hardened Firefox browser where Iβve typically avoided keeping bookmarks cause I assumed they contribute to your browser fingerprint, but I just realized I have no idea if thatβs true. Iβve also seen a βprivate bookmarksβ add on for Firefox. Is it necessary? Donβt make them at all? Thanks.

I kinda got nostalgic as it was somewhat common to use these toolbars like 15 years ago, so my question is: Is there still a modern browser which has this feature?
I'd like to get a button on the Firefox toolbar for the Element zapper because I use it a lot and want to get it down to one click. Does anyone know of a way to do this or any creative ideas?
I tried making an extension with a toolbar button that will emulate a keypress to enter the element zapper mode with a hotkey, but I seem to have a problem emulating ctrl and/or alt if it's even possible.
Would it be possible to take some bits of code out of the uBlock Origin extension that is used to enter that mode or would I be wasting my time trying something like that?
Any other ideas? Thanks.
i know this sounds super fucking weird but sometime in the early 2000s our family got a family pc and i, like most 6 year olds, decided to download a shitton of viruses and toolbars on the pc. i remember one of them used ask as a search engine and it had some games on it, i donβt remember any game other than one specific flash 2D robot fighting game that i played a lot when i was younger. i donβt remember a lot but it distinctly remember you needing to level up to unlock other fighters and it needing facebook to play, it wasnβt on the facebook website though, just needed facebook to log in. i remember needing my mom to log me in any time i wanted to play. if anyone could please find it i would genuinely appreciate it so much.
Apps that don't do all three:
Chrome
Firefox
Opera
Dolphin
Brave (this has all three but they can't all be enabled at once)
Does the following exist?
So I'm talking about a browser toolbar. It sits below the address bar.
It has a dropdown that allows you to add comments. Being on a different webpage makes different comments visible. The comments are also visible to everyone who has the toolbar. So in effect, it adds to every webpage the ability to add comments.
What's the closest thing to this that exists?

Hi, I'm just wondering something regarding the upcoming "Firefox Proton" redesign. For as long as I can remember, Firefox has had a really nice option to fully customize the layout and placement of things in the main toolbar. I've used it quite a bit over the years in order to get a layout and selection of buttons that works the best for me.
Looking at preview images of the Proton redesign, however, I see that not only are many things within the toolbar seemingly missing in comparison screenshots, but in preview screenshots that include a look at what is in the "three lines" options menu in the toolbar, the "Customize Toolbar" option is not immediately visible anymore. I really hope they didn't remove it, just because the apparent removal-by-default of most of the existing buttons would be annoying for me to have to deal with, and if there's no way to add at least most of them back, it'd get REALLY bothersome.
To summarize real quick, I'm wondering if anybody knows if the "Customize Toolbar" option is still available for adding and removing buttons from the browser's main bar in the upcoming "Proton" redesign, or if that's all gone now and I'll just have to deal with losing all of that very useful functionality?
From the Firefox 89 release notes
> Also in full screen mode on macOS, it is now possible to hide the browser toolbars for a fully immersive full screen experience. This brings macOS in line with Windows and Linux.
I've been waiting for that feature for ages! But, where is it?
The question is in the title, Are those features hidden and should I enable them or are they just nor supported and I should stay with Bento ?
Thanks !
Wondering if showing the bookmarks toolbar makes me identifiable in any way. Thought it might change my inner window size. Is it safe to have it on?
Pretty much as the title. I just "upgraded" to Quantum and my Firefox layout has dramatically changed.
Why was Quantum allowed to be released en-masse when it completely breaks whatever custom layout the user has become accustomed to over years of use?
It was bad enough when things like the classic Back/Forward buttons were changed back in version [whatever], but now the ability to change the toolbar layout at all has been removed - unless, of course, you have the technical know-how to edit userchrome.css, which is beside the point. (As an aside, does nobody else find it fucking ludicrous that we now have to resort to browsing a third party Github repo filled with CSS devoted to manually restoring the ability to change how Firefox looks?)
Furthermore, I personally submitted feedback to Mozilla many times over the years about how they must ensure such customisation is preserved in Firefox, and I saw many, many others expressing the same opinion all over the web.
But that has not been done. The feedback of users has simply been ignored. Firefox has now become synonymous with "clone of Chrome". Even if that's not actually the case, it's how it's being perceived.
So yes, well done, Quantum is faster. But it removes so much about what made Firefox actually good.
Personally, I'm moving to Vivaldi, because since I'm going to have to start from scratch again with Firefox anyway, I might as well.
Edit: this post is not even about the removal of legacy extension support. It's about the degradation of Firefox's easy customisability in general, and the lack of care/professionalism/consistency in Firefox's UX.
Does anyone remember the Browser Toolbar Games from the early 2000s? Games like Pitsi were for the internet explorer. I wanna download them again, but I can't seem to find any download links for any of the browser toolbar games.
