A list of puns related to "British Virgin Islands"
Hi there - recently flew a charter from Virgin Gorda to St. Thomas. I couldn't find anything published anywhere on the rules of the Virgin Gorda airport if you wanted to fly there GA. I did ask one of the workers there if "private" flights were allowed (he didn't know what GA meant), and he said yes, but said only commercial and Turbines or Twins (although I never saw a turbine land in 14 days on the island). I asked our charter pilot as well but he didn't know. Knowing the BVI, rules are somewhat subject to interpretation. I thought it would be a true bucket list item to fly myself to my favorite destination. I couldn't find anything about Civil Aviation at all on the BVI website except that they have a new director. I will try to contact him, but figured if any Caribbean pilots might know where to look for official rules. I know we can fly to Tortola pretty easily and the ferry isn't a big deal, but it would rule to fly to VG. Practically I imagine you'd want to tie down on Tortola as there isn't anything to secure your plane at VG, or fuel, etc.

Sir Geoffrey Cox is tonight being referred to the standards commissioner by Labour after he appeared to use his Commons office to represent the British Virgin Islands in a corruption case against the UK government.
It emerged yesterday Cox had voted by proxy while working in the BVI. But footage from September 14 appears to show him joining a hearing remotely from Portcullis House. This could be a breach of the rules around the use of Commons facilities - which Owen Paterson also broke
Speaker,
I have a short speech to address the house today, as a significant decision is being made in regards to the British Virgin Islands, and our relationship with them, and I feel the house needs to know the nature and reasoning behind this, and what measures are being taken.
A few days ago I received this letter from Governor Rankin. Essentially, the Governor has seen it necessary to investigate serious allegations of corruption in the Territory. Now Iβm sure this house vividly remembers the Turks and Caicos crisis, but for those who might be a tad rusty on their knowledge, allow me to give a brief overview on what our role in this kind of situation is. The UK is the guardian of good government for all territories and dependencies in our possession. This means that we are responsible for making sure that our territories are held up to a high standard of governmental integrity, equal to our own high standards. Our territories have effective autonomy, aside from some key aspects, but if they abuse this autonomy, it is only right that they are put back on the straight and narrow.
As a consequence of our position, we will be supporting the commission of inquiry, running oversight on the whole process, alongside the Governor, to ensure that due process is followed and the truth of the matter found. The commission will conclude with a report, to be sent to the UK government and Governor Rankin, outlining recommendations moving forward. In the past, most notably in the Turks and Caicos Crisis, this has involved potentially suspending self-government until such a time where it can be safely restored, free of any ills.
Until this report is published, we will be supporting Governor Rankin and his team in this endeavour, using foreign office and justice department resources as necessary. The UK government will be hosting a website to keep track of the progress of the inquiry, so that all citizens of both the BVI and the UK can see how the proceedings progress, including options to give evidence. Governor Rankin has decided on an appointment to lead the inquiry, and we shall all be working as a team to get to the bottom of these allegations and do what is best for the people of the British Virgin Islands.
I thank the house for their understanding, I will be available to answer questions on this matter, as will other members of the government.
(BIG FAT META NOTE: this is an irl
