A list of puns related to "Brent Spiner"
It's been mentioned somewhere that he's playing a completely new character. It's almost a joke that every male member of the Soong family has been played by Brent Spiner. I'd think that Arik the geneticist was the main reason that all Soongs look the same, but what if with the time travel plot they end up meeting Arik's ancestor from 2022?
Brent Spiner confirmed this week that he will indeed appear in the upcoming Season 2 of Picard.
John DeLancie had previously revealed that he had scenes together with Spiner when he returned as Q on the set.
Many fans therefore assumed that we would once again witness another Data-comeback because of the upcoming Time Travel plot.
But Spiner now revealed that he will appear as a βcharacter he never played beforeβ. So not as Data, Lore or B4, and not as one of the Soong family members he played before either.
So what do you think? Will he return as an evil Android in a dystopian 2399 after Q changed the timeline?
Or as another ancestor of Dr. Soong in the 21st century? Or as someone completely different?

...that Data has aging subroutines.
I was watching the episode "Inheritance" yesterday, and in the scene where Juliana Tainer android construction is being examined in sickbay, Geordi mentions that she has aging subroutines "like Data".
I had missed this little throwaway line in previous viewings, so when Mr. Spiner mentioned that he was getting too old to continue playing Data, it made perfect sense. With this new information, however, I can't help but feel a little disappointed Data's character went in the direction it did (though it's understandable if Mr. Spiner was just getting tired of playing the role).

I just love the depth of tension between Soran and Picard. Both are motivated by similar things (the dread of mortality), and end up being exactly opposite against each other. Riker is just great as Captain. There's something badass about him that Picard never exhibited, and he really takes command in his own way.
And then there's Brent Spiner's performance. It's over the top, gaudy is maybe the best word? I often skip the whole "Mr Tricorder" sxene. Now, people might say the scenes were written badly, but then I look at a similar performance in "Masks", where the performance was also ... circus-y?
I expect to be downvoted, but I actually kinda think Brent Spiner is only good in that one narrow character Roddenberry cast him in.
I think pretty much everyone would agree Brent Spiner is amazing as Data. But when he gets a chance to play other roles such as Lore, or Dr. Soong (old and young), does anyone ever think it's kind of a shame he didn't get to do more with his range?
A friend told me about Brent Spiner's new book, Fan Fiction. It's not a perfect novel, but it's delightful. The mix of self-awareness, slightly-dark humor, and genuine affection for Trek may interest other FoDs. It took me an embarrassing amount of time to realize that the voice parts in the audio book weren't just Spiner doing a shockingly realistic impression of other main cast members.
(Sorry if this has come up before in this forum. A quick search didn't find it.)
...does that mean Mark Zuckerberg is Metadata?
Alright, so a few days ago I finally finished HBO's "Batman: The Audio Adventures," and I've gotta say... great show, I really enjoyed it. Casting and performances are all on point, production value is fantastic -- it was all around a stellar production and I was very satisfied with it, and really hope to hear more.
One thing that surprised me about the show was... my favorite part of the entire production was The Joker.
The Joker? Really?
To be sure -- The Joker is a fantastic character, and I can't imagine the Batman mythos without him. But... he's The Joker. He's played out, overexposed, and to be honest, it's always been a bit of a drag for me when I crack open a comic or tune into a toon, only to find out it's another Joker issue/episode.
Not only was the character starting to feel tired and boring, but the performances were starting to feel uninspired. The less said about Jared Leto the better, but even the good Joker performances were starting to get a little stale. Everybody was doing some variation on Hammil or Ledger, or some combination of the two. Ho-hum.
But, oh man... I was NOT prepared for what The Audio Adventures had in store for me. I LOVED their portrayal of the Joker. It was unique, original, and instantly classic. It felt wholly new and like nothing we've heard before, yet it also seemed to have traces of Jack Nicholson, Heath Ledger, Mark Hammil, and Caesar Romero. It immediately conjured up images of the original Bob Kane illustrated Joker, with his smooth fashion and evilly devious grin.
And it was SCARY. Now, I don't mean to imply that I was shaking in my boots listening to the podcast. Just that it was an effectively spooky performance, which somehow captured exactly what makes the Joker creepy while also embodying the playful over-the-top performative flair that Mark Hammil exemplifies. I was floored.
After the first episode was all finished and the curtains closed, I went and checked to see who was the actor that portrayed the Joker, and much to my surprise I found myself exclaiming "NO WONDER IT WAS SO GOOD. IT WAS BRENT FREAKING SPINER!!!"
Brent Spiner is an incredibly entertaining performer best known for playing the android Data on "Star Trek: The Next Generation." He brings an unmatched energy and personality to his performances that make them instantly memorable and endearing. You might also remember him as the old hippie scientist in Independence Day, demonstrating his incredible ran
... keep reading on reddit β‘In the episode Author Author, Data shouldβve been called to testify as an expert witness on the rights of artificial life forms on behalf of the doctor. LT Barclay would known of Dataβs existence along with Lt Torres. Also it would have given Brent Spiner an opportunity to guest star on Voyager.
I watched it again for the first time in years and Brent Spinerβs performance is so much more hilarious and nuanced after seeing him as Data for so long!
Thatβs it, I just thought yβall would understand and appreciate the experience : )
LLAP, friends!
