A list of puns related to "Bottleneck"
Legitimately curious, as this has happened at the start of too many wipes to be a bug the way many always claim and BSG has already tweaked gas analyzer spawn settings yesterday so it seems intentional that it's mostly loose loot in a few specific places now. If the intent is to slow down progression then I'd argue that there must be a better way to go about it, as this really only serves to widen the gulf between people who want to play normally and people who are willing to shift+W directly to tech rooms over and over, or the new flash drive spot, or whatever the artificial scarcity item of choice that particular wipe is.
I just find it odd that BSG has been vocally against loot gremlin play so often in the past, but almost every wipe we see the same cycle play out where some FIR item that's vital to an early trader task line is borderline nonexistent, and the pistoleers sprinting to location X playing like suicidal lemmings end up jumping the hurdle in a day or two while the people who don't want to do that are stuck for days or weeks until the spawn rate in containers is inevitably cranked up again or they luck out into a mostly empty raid where the one or two golden goose spots don't get hit in the first 3 minutes.
Hello! I have a chance to buy a MSI 3060 TI Gaming Z Trio ay a reasonable price. Would my Ryzen 5 2600 (4GHz 1.025v) bottleneck it? I'm playing games like Assetto Corsa (heavily modded), Forza Horizon 5, CS:GO sometimes. Also thinking of playing Control and CP2077. Cooling would be no problem so I could push the CPU up to 4.2GHz but it would consume almost 35-ish watts more.
thats all. the title says it all.

It has stuck with me ever since, could squids possibly take over like our aquatic ancestors who came out the ocean and the evolved, if humans go extinct. Because of their intelligence.
So this post is partially a question and partially something I just want to put out there and get us all thinking about. A core issue for both Israel and Palestine is the Palestinian right of return to Israel proper, something which has been a bottleneck issue in previous peace negotiations (off the top of my head it has at least come up in camp david and I am sure it has come up in other proposals). There are multiple issues I have with the Palestinian leadership demanding this right. First of all, I am personally very much opposed to the idea. My family arrived in Israel in the first place because they were persecuted by 3 different arab countries. The only way to ensure that I or any other relative of mine avoids that same fate is to avoid being a minority in Israel, which the Palestinian right of return puts at risk. This is my own personal and emotional take on this issue. But in addition I want to look at some other similar instances. The Palestinians are not the only people to be displaced due to a conflict in recent history, which is why I believe it can help in how we think of this issue by looking at precedents.
Millions of germans were expelled following (and all the way up to the 50s) WW2
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flight_and_expulsion_of_Germans_(1944%E2%80%931950)
Around 850000 Jews were expelled from middle eastern countries
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jewish_exodus_from_Arab_and_Muslim_countries
>The World Organization of Jews from Arab Countries (WOJAC) estimated in 2006, that Jewish property abandoned in Arab countries would be valued at more than $100 billion, later revising their estimate in 2007 to $300 billion. They also estimated Jewish-owned real-estate left behind in Arab lands at 100,000 square kilometers (four times the size of the state of Israel).
and lastly, a topic I admittedly know less about, is the case of northern cyprus where 150'000 Cypriotes were expelled following the Turkish invasion
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turkish_invasion_of_Cyprus#:~:text=Around%20150%2C000%20people%20
Now in all three of these cases the right of return was never implemented. Cypriotes and their descendants were not allowed back into northern Cyprus

Work for a Hyundai store in New England and our system can not figure out when cars arrive anymore. I spoke to a truck driver about a month or so ago and he mentioned that a lot of truck drivers are quitting the industry. It seems to be true as deliveries of new cars is so slow right now. And cars seem to be sitting on boats a lot longer.
Obviously this has caused some concern, and it is hard to keep customers engaged when you tell them their vehicle is built, sitting at factory and it has not moved.
Any other ideas why this would be happening? And what else have you guys seen? Have you noticed this?
I see a lot of articles and posts these days talking about supply chain issues: whether it's about how expensive it is to buy a shipping container, or that there isn't enough space at shipping ports, or that there aren't enough truckers, etc. etc.
However, these are all micro-level symptoms of a macro-level problem. Don't miss the forest for the trees. Journalists need to write something new every day (or every hour it seems), even if there isn't anything new to say. Which leads to a lot of noise that clouds your mind from making sense of what is really happening in the world.
In my view, the problem is clear: governments overdid it with stimulus. Unlike the 2008 Global Financial Crisis where policymakers did too little and acted too slow, this time around governments decided to err on the side of doing too much too quickly. If you look at consumer spending on FRED, it didn't just fully recovery from the 2020 shock, it's arguably on a stronger trajectory than it otherwise would be without the pandemic! At the same time, unemployment is still high and labor force participation is dreadfully low! The Fed created such a tremendous wealth effect, people are earning multiple years worth of stock market returns in the span of months. I'm not surprised many people are taking career breaks or retiring early. So why do we have red hot inflation? Because we're printing more money and making less things, it's that simple.
The inflation problem highlights how difficult it is to be a policymaker. On one hand, you don't want to under spend and risk seeing long-term economic scarring, but if you stimulate too much, you risk fueling inflation as well as asset price bubbles. The other factor at play is the politicization of economic policy. You're everyone's favorite politician when you're fueling spending, but it's hard to get reelected when you advocate for cutbacks. Prudent policymaking requires spending when times are bad, and building reserves when times are good - politicians have forgot about the latter half of that equation.
Edit: replying to a set of very common critiques in the comments:
βBut shipping containers are $8k!β - Iβm not denying supply chain problems, rather I think they are a symptom, not the root cause. When you have too much money chasing few things, you get supply chain bottlenecks.
βBut velocity of money! QTM! You donβt understand Econ 101!!β - QTM is the foundation of Friedmanβs famous view that inflation is always a monetary phenomen
It was one thing to need them for characters going from g13-14. But now these new toons needs g14 pieces on g14, g15 and even g16. Our availability to them right now is to farm 1 node a day and hope you get at least 1 drop or open g14 armory orbs. I opened 60 g14 armory orbs and didn't even get 15 Superior Molecular Scans to equip one piece of gear on Ghost Spider.
It has to be time to include these in another node or even the outdated raid store at this point no?
Howdy all, years ago this was a popular and fun recurring topic. Haven't seen it in a while and since we're coming off of a bunch of updates and unis and a shakeup of the meta i figure it's a good time to resurrect it!
I'll start!
Short term (working on right now) - get Spidey's gears to 25 & T3. Will get the red uni as soon as it's back on 40% sale.
Finish Arachknight's Heroic quest and t2
Bottleneck- EoD
Mid term (goal in the next 30-45 days) - T3 Wolverine (gears done). P5 uni finished.
Work through Thena's Epic Quest, work her levels, gears to 25, T3. Will get her uni during next sale.
Transcend Black Cat, got her new uni, she's support so this is low priority but would be nice in Dispatch.
Bottleneck - EoD, Thena's bios
Long term (looking forward) - t2 the entire roster. I have 16 of the premium characters at 6* and 14 at around 1-4*. I haven't gotten a premium sub in a long time (last time was probably when Gambit got his uni), will probably start get it monthly soon
Bottleneck - bios, time.

Basically the title. I'm grinding a CV, BB, CA, and DD line, all at tier VI. I have a huge pool of FXP, and each individual line (except CV) is relatively close to advancing on XP alone. But I only have 2.8 mil credits, which isn't even enough for a single tier VII ship, and on top of that I haven't bought any upgrades for these ships in order to save credits. I thought XP was supposed to be the grindy part, not credits.

Hello
There is a problem I want to get some more opinions on that I think is still being evolved the the devops world.
I find that in many organizations, the devops are the one managing the IaC repositories (as stated above - it can be terraform, cloudformation, argo/flux, ansible).
Now, a lot of times developers might wanna make changes - adding/updating native level packages, adding/updating environment variables (dynamically sometimes), sometimes maybe adding new services.
Now, I don't expect for example a Nodejs developer to make a change in a terraform repository and make a PR, or update an Ansible playbook - I don't think it is reasonable to ask them to learn new languages/syntax, learn the repository git workflows and catchas, etc.
However, I also think that developers should be in finer control over the services they own, and updating an env variable should be their choice and in their power.
How do your enable developers to make changes - while not making your team a bottleneck?
Hello! I had the chance to get a 3090 Founders Edition at MRSP and, after looking for a GPU for the past 2 months, couldn't pass it up. Given the choice, I would have gone for a 3080 or 6800XT instead...
Anyway, I am now looking for the remaining components to upgrade from my 8yr build. I made this parts list choosing mostly based on 5* + lowest price, so please do feel free to swap anything up.
EDIT: Please note that I am in Italy (will purchase mostly from Amazon.it, in Euros, and taxes are included).
>What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games or programs you will be using.
Catch up on recent AAA titles at max specs. I would like to game at (upscaled) 4K 140+ FPS, and finally try out VR. I also like to stream my multiplayer gameplay to 0-5 viewers for archiving and reviewing purposes.
>What is your maximum budget before rebates/shipping/taxes?
EDIT: At this point, I am willing to spend the extra money to make sure the 3090 isn't bottlenecked. I'd say 1500 euro (incl. taxes, which is the standard here) for internal components, on top of the GPU - or 3k total. Thanks!
>When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Note: beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy.
Will pull the trigger on parts as soon as I receive the GPU (no ETA yet, but the order is confirmed).
>What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (Tower/OS/monitor/keyboard/mouse/etc)
Case + anything inside it. I'll look for a fitting monitor separately, and I plan to reuse my current peripherals.
>Which country (and state/province) will you be purchasing the parts in? If you're in US, do you have access to a Microcenter location?
ITALY.
>If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? Brands and models are appreciated.
I plan to reuse the HDD and possibly the CPU cooler, if it's appropriate - my old machine will be fine with a cheaper cooler once it's demoted to my secondary rig.
>Will you be overclocking? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line? CPU and/or GPU?
I want to maximize for stability, quietness and longevity, so mostly no.

We all know that after a challenge is done, the prices of the moments needed, plummet. But sometimes the reward is worth it, before I go all in on this challenge do you guys believe the Mobley reward will be worth it? His current moment is at $460 rn and itβs the only one.
Iβm guessing the Vanderbilt bottleneck($220 and rising) will drop back down to $120 and the other moments will probably drop a few dollars. Will the Mobley reward off set this loss and turn profit? Just wanted to gauge everyoneβs thoughts! Thanks!
I know that if someone griefs the quest then it'll be an issue for everyone. If there isn't a griefer though, can multiple parties get credit for the same RP event?

In leagues 2, one early bottleneck was the wizard's tower demon.

Hi Guys
I've just upgraded from the GTX1060 to the RTX3060 and also installed an additional 16gb RAM (Taking it to 32gb)... I'm not noticing any FPS gain, I'm using the same 1080p in-game settings as the 1060.
Previously when I was gaming on the GTX1060 with the i5-9600k, my CPU and GPU utilization would both be close to 100% in HWMonitor so it seemed they were pretty well balanced.
Now I'm testing the RTX3060 with the i5-9600k and the FPS seems about the same and my CPU usage is around 50% and my GPU usage is floating around 50%.
Please can anyone explain what is happening here? Am I being bottlenecked in some way? Why aren't my CPU and GPU working as hard as they can to achieve more FPS?
Tested on games such as Escape from Tarkov, Assassins Creed Odyssey, Total War Warhammer 2, Mount & Blade 2 Bannerlord
RAM: I've enabled XMP and RAM is running at 3200MHz
TEMPS: Temps are good as far as I can tell with HWMonitor. CPU stays under 60Β°, GPU under 65Β°
PSU: Pure Power 11 500W 80+ Gold. I've connected the 8 pin and the 6 pin to the GPU and I'm assured by the internet that 500W is enough for this rig as long as I don't overclock

My guild is planning to do only the first boss of Hyjal at release for BT attunement, then head to Shadowmoon valley and turn in the quest.
Can everyone do the next quest (it triggers an event) at the same time or it will take more time for everyone to complete it?
Curious to know if people tested that on the PTR.
I am building a new computer and I was wondering if the ryzen 5 5600x will bottleneck my RTX 3070Ti at 1440p and if I should upgrade to something like a 5800x. I appreciate some help.
D lo is inflated to $45 floor, and heβll likely go back to $15 post challenge. Imo this rules out any real purpose of completing the challenge if you donβt have him already.
Heβs the only moment I had to buy for the challenge, but most archive moments are 4-5 bucks and so Iβm not sure itβs worth it. Iβm gonna sell my garland for a slight profit and wait for the hustle and show drop for my pack fix haha
Are you guys completing it?
Hi all!
I will really be glad to have some opinions from experienced players about the hardest bottleneck in mid-late & late game.
I leave you some options here:
- Rare drops (Such as Glass Shards, Nuget Cakes, Black Lens etc.)
- Refinery
- Alchemy Bubbles
- Alchemy Liquids
- Trapping
- Costrucion
- Boss Farming
- Worship
>!SPOILER: For me, it's Refinery. Also I find Trapping really painful.
I'm playing since late october and I'm considering myself a mid/late player.
I'm focused on: material/food bags upgrade, weapon & tools upgrade, chizoar farming, and of course the one I think make the biggest difference: Alchemy.
Salts are involved in every focus of mine and seems you have to choose if level salts rank (and progress slowly) or a smooth progression (and pay every day more for the salt rank gap). !<
Thank you so much! Can't wait to hear about your point of view about!
P.s. I'm really glad to be in this community, even if i'm not actively posting!
This CPU is absolutely savage. Previously at the start of full grid races in Assetto Corsa Competizione in VR I would be at 80% GPU utilization, stuttery mess, even with mirror quality turned down to low and mirror render distance to 30m (VR, Pimax 8KX, 90 Hz). Now I have mirrors on High and 90m and 90 FPS and GPU utilization is still 99% at the start of races. I'm literally speechless. Also, driving around in Watch Dogs Legion, formerly the FPS would dip to 60 @ 5120x1440 (DLSS Balanced) with 75% GPU Utilization. Now it's 99% utilization everywhere, all the time, and my FPS is above 75 nearly all the time and it feels infinitely smoother. Same thing goes for Forza Horizon 5, where visiting a Gunahuato and my FPS would tank a bit, GPU utilization dipping down to 80%. Now it never dips under 99%, ever, in any game, under any circumstance. Best part is I didn't even need to reinstall Windows. Zero problems, it's been 2 weeks now, CPU and memory is dialed in.
I can't believe how fast this CPU is, what an absolute upgrade coming from 8700k:

[Updated 3 Jan] Improved testing technique, more comparable "new" build, but same results
TL;DR
Non-bottleneck sub-assemblers in DI builds provide near negligible benefit from being shared (reduced assembler AND inserter count);
Foreword
Hi all, I'm fairly new to this sub, but have been reading for a bit now. I got fed up in trying to optimize what I knew was a good but not great purple science design of my own, so instead of spending hours on that, I decided to spend time learning about DI. Now here I am, thinking I could optimize an existing winning direct insertion design, having never done direct insertion build before. I welcome any info pointing out if/why my results are wrong :)
Background
Using the purple science build (not including steel smelters, miners, prod1, or labs), u/Stevetrov had identified in his 20x1000 cell build thread that there may be a benefit to sharing the iron stick assembler. That is what I set out to do to test my understanding of direct insertion and UPS optimization. From u/Mulark's test 000059, overbeaconing entities should have virtually no impact for the same amount of assemblers, and from pretty much all threads around, sleeping entities have minimal UPS.
Hypothesis
Surely by reducing the number of assemblers, and inserters, that should make a difference, though small since we keep the same overall production numbers and number of inserter swings.
The builds
Design comparison
-Arrangement generally remains the same, but it's flipped horizontally to have inputs from the electric furnace side due to the increased limitations on the rail assembler side
-Removed 0.5 stick assemblers, 0.5 furnaces, 1 assembler to assembler inserter, and 1 belt to assembler inserter per purple sci assembly (roughly 100 furnaces, 100 assemblers, and 200 inserters for a 20k factory). The total number of swings is expected to remain the same, as we are moving the same amount of items.
-The purple sci assemblers now output to a blue belt, so presumably that reduces the output assembler's work by a few ticks.
-All assemblers still have the minimum number of beacons, or above, and back pressure is maintai

Hi,
I run OMV5 on an old desktop. (i5 3470s on an intel DH67GD motherboard 4gb ram)
I have a 60gb boot SSD, 3x3tb internal hdds, and a 2tb WD external usb3 drive for plex media.
It all works nicley and has done fro the past 2 years.
Recently I got a new Seagate 5tb USB hdd to add alongside and expand the plex media storage (I don't care about plex redundancy).
I have plugged the new drive in to the usb3 socket on the motherboard, formatted it as EXT4 and made a file system and shared it/ SMB.
I see it show up everywhere fine, but I have performance issues with it. On my windows PC, when transferring a file across it starts nicely at >100MB/s and then after 10 sec it drops to 0b/s. Sometimes it recovers for a bit but is very slow and keeps stopping.
The existing 2tb drive works fine and does not do this behaviour.
I have tried taking it out and NFTS formatting it on my windows machine. The performance here was good and didn't drop out on large transferred. Crystaldiskmark also worked on it fine.
I've also tried swapping the two external drives usb sockets and tried them both separately. The old 2tb WD always works, the new one always chugs after 10ish sec.
Netdata shows very high (100% core usage) iowait when transferring to this drive, but not the existing 2tb drive.
Has anyone please got any idea what might be causing the issue? Or how to fix it?
To add to this: Interestingly the SMART data was showing as good on windows when formatted for windows. But on OMV I get no SMART data at all
So I should have enough money after I get my christmas bonus at the end of this month (for some reason our company doesn't give them out until the end of january) I'll have enough to build the PC without a GPU. I plan on getting a 3080 next paycheck but im wondering if I can use a 1070 to still play games or if that would possibly bottleneck my PC? I only plan on playing older titles mainly like mw2 and battlefield 4 and a few newer games as well plus doing some projects in UE4/blender.
Hey guys, I'm planning to get the AMD RX 6600 XT for my build.
Problem is, I've seen my i5-10400 could bottleneck that GPU a bit. Should I still pick that one for the build or should I just get an RTX 3060/Ti? Feel free to leave your suggestions for a combo with that i5 on the comments.
The new Pi-hole diagnosis says:

This may slow down DNS resolution and can cause bottlenecks.
What should I do?
I'm in a weird state on my account where I want to do boss slayer, but feel like many tasks are very inefficient without the DWH.
I don't really feel like grinding another 3500 shamans off task just to meet droprate.
