A list of puns related to "Blood Donation"
The nurse asked the rabbit: "what is your blood type?" "I'm probably a type O" said the rabbit.
Hi, I understand the importance of blood donations for saving people lives. But why blood donors are not paid in the USA? At the same time, if someone needs to have blood transfusion, this patient or patients insurance will be billed for the transfusion, and I think they will be billed heavily. I agree to donate blood to any patient, but I disagree that money from patients or their insurance indirectly goes to pockets of insurance executives of executives of the Red Cross. If donations are free, then transfusions should be also free without any payments form patient's pocket. I know in some countries donors are encouraged to donate blood with some benefits.
Edit: when I say βpaidβ, I do not necessarily mean directly cash. It may be in form of a free paid day off, discount for public transportation or discount for utility bills, for example.
Guyssss I just saw muls celebrating and I was shocked ππ according to Thai red cross it is banned for MSM (men who have sex with men)to be a blood donors . Is this true? No MOGOPOFOGO?
This fail happened today. :(
So a couple days ago I saw a flyer at Starbucks advertising there was a blood drive happening on this date and donors would receive an Amazon gift card (and the heroic feeling of saving lives, of course). Nice!
So I sign up, attend the blood drive taking place today, wait a couple of minutes, get my temperature taken twice, my finger pricked, and finally...
I step on the scale and... weigh 109 lbs (thatβs 49 kg for you non-Americans).
You need to be 110+ lbs to donate blood. FML. Shouldβve checked my weight before going.
I still treated myself to Starbucks for my efforts. :)
My friend and I were struggling to figure out why it worked for him and not me, it turns out that it was simply his skill leech that was healing him and not this skill at all. Another player put the same issue on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VnQaXns138A.
I hear people claim that it works but I'm starting to think it's just skill leech on their gear/skills. Does it actually seem to function for anyone without any skill leech gear/skills/other regen sources?
Hopefully, devs will actually bother turning this and some of the other non-functioning skills/mods on.
The Red Cross are a bit desp at the moment for blood donors, so I was wondering if Reddit could help out. Iβm only doing it for the second time tomorrow, but it only takes 15 minutes and you get VERY bougie snacks afterwards. Iβm talking sossie rolls, vegan sangas, cake.. Apparently one in three Victorians will know someone in our lifetime that needs blood. You also get a text when your blood has been given to someone, so itβs rewarding as fuck. Iβm not affiliated with Red Cross, but Iβm an ambo so you can message me with any questions.
Natural Law ethics often uses the idea of a "perverted faculty" to know whether a certain faculty is being used morally. Speech is ordered to truth (thus lying is wrong), sexual faculties are ordered to reproduction (thus non-fecund sexual acts are wrong), etc.
What about blood donation? That seems to be using a faculty in a way contrary to its natural end (veins are meant to keep blood in the body, blood is meant to stay in the body). It seems under a natural law view it would be intrinsically wrong to intentionally remove blood from the body, for any reason.
I like the idea of natural law ethics, but I struggle to see how it applies to all situations. It just doesn't seem like a good universal way of viewing ethics, but I'd like to be corrected and see how it applies in this instance.
This might be a really dumb question but is it safe to donate blood regularly? I've been thinking of donating plasma as a side income and just want to make sure before I start.

Rant forthcoming. To summarize, I have a special blood type thatβs always in demand. I donate frequently because I have family members who have needed transfusions in the past or cannot donate. Started way back in college with the Red Cross and then one time a few years ago they were less than careful with the needle so I went to INOVA. Professionalism and communications have been great, I even donated multiple times during the pandemic.
However, over the past few months, the communications have become incessant and obnoxious. I have been emailed or called multiple times a week (or day) with their pleas of βsuper low inventoryβ etc. To me, they cried wolf during the pandemic with the same thing. Also, I know that insurance pays a whopping amount for blood transfusions. So, ultimately, why not do more to incentivize people to come in? This is clearly about supply and demand. I heard the argument of βwe donβt want high risk types donating bloodβ and βdonating blood shouldnβt be a test for (you name the disease).β Anyway, just sick of the calls and emails as they have a clear solution . Iβve tried unsubscribing and telling them not to call, but they keep getting through.
H: Hey look, a blood drive you are in for a treat klaxone
A: Doesnβt blood is your vessel of oxygen and nutrients and what is blood drive
H: There are some people who lose too much blood or canβt produce regular blood due to medical condition. So we are going to give my blood for them to use
A:Ahhhh... doesnβt that hurt you or make you collapsed
H:Well itβs a bit and they would make sure that you are healthy enough to give without collapsing
A: So you willing to go in to be slaughtered
H:No just come with me, process is more pleasant than you thought
ββββββββββ
H: My alien friend curious about blood donation can you let him close, nurse
A: NO I DONβT
H: Come on, okay nurse iβm ready to go
Nurse rubbing a alcohol, scan arm for blood vessels and stick a needle into the skin
A: Ahhhhhhhhhh
N: I donβt think your friend is comfortable with this
H: Well he should, his nation top doctors send a request of know how through International Red-Cross Society
Human also show a picture of doctors delegate to nurse.
A:What, that doesnβt doctors. Thatβs a intelligent agency. They would disguise as doctor and take this as a interrogation method.
H: Well fuck, okay let get this over with so I can warn the Red-Cross

Can type 1 diabetics donate blood? I figured if your bg is controlled you can donate. Iβve always wanted to but i couldnβt find any sources that state if it is or is not allowed.
I was just going through my email which has like 300 unread emails and found an old email from the end of 2019 confirming 2 free tickets for me to go see the Orlando Magic play. I remember reserving my date online however, due to the pandemic all games for 2020 were cancelled and I got a followup email stating my tickets would be valid for the 2021 season. Now I go to click the link and I signed in and it tells me I have 0 tickets available when I should have 2. Did anyone else get tickets and were you able to use them? Did they expire? Nowhere on the email did it say there was an expiration date.
I would like to cite Shane Rollins on the LMW for raising the idea of blood donation as a potential lead. EDIT: The link appears to be broken. Shane links a video example in the LMW comments under the Hitogata article.
Upon a smidge of further research, this ad for blood donation is very thematically similar to Hitogata:
β’ Rapid movement between greyscale figures, albeit humans and not humanoid.
β’ Stock sound effect, acting as a timer
β’ Most importantly, the overarching theme of βevery two seconds ...β
Itβs also creepy as shit.
These two ads demonstrate that the motif is a common one for PSAs surrounding blood donation, and probably worth following up. Again - credit to Shane. We might be onto something here, especially given the amount of North American comments on the LMW indicating familiarity with the original ad.
Yesterday at my gym, one of the members asked me why I had a bruise on my left arm. I told her I had donated blood on Saturday and stupidly workout out later that day, resulting in a bruise. She was intrigued and asked how to go about donating blood. After a lengthy conversation she said she would make an appointment to give blood. I thanked her for that and have been ecstatic that some of my good will rubbed off one someone else. I really hope, and am sure she will follow through.
The rabbit says: "I dunno, I think I might be a Type-O."
Hi all,
I've read some interesting commentary on here about blood donation as a method of managing flares - there's some corresponding research out there about reducing ferritin levels in the body, and that ferritin levels seem to be one of the things that gives the flare immune response so much force. (in the study, they intentionally did blood-letting to hit a targeted near-deficient iron level, for months on end - the targets had zero flares during this time.)
So, given that I have no desire to do blood-letting (... because it's not the 1500s, WTF) I'm going to go donate blood on Monday, and collect some UA level metrics in the days before/after just to see if there's any impact. I'm curious to know if it affects UA levels at all, or if it's purely the matter of lowering ferritin levels.
I"m curious to hear about any experiences you have had with blood donation, good or bad. Please share!
EDIT: clarifying here - this is whole blood donation, not plasma extraction.
I've heard that when you donate blood and they give you a bunch of cookies afterwards, it doesn't count towards your calorie total. Ha. Any truth to this? Asking for a friend (who may or may not have had a few extra bags of cookies).
I always wanted to donate blood. But authorities turned me down twice in the past (despite me begging and acting cool) pointing at my bio indices. 27 yo, 5'6" tall, and weighing barely 50 kg. Do I stand a chance? Because I am planning to get a tattoo and I'm afraid I'll never get another chance. Recommend some blood banks with relaxed norms around Kochi

Hello,
I have seen on the news that Cyprus is running low on blood reserves and I wanted to go to donate some blood.
Could someone help me with finding a center that is open during corona times because google has not been helpful in finding one.
Also does anyone know whether going there would use up the only text message that we get or are blood donations treated like vaccination appointments?
Thanks in advance!
I've been giving blood for the past few years, and have recently started cycle commuting. My next/nearest donation opportunity is in the next town over, 11km for a 22km round trip.
Would rather ride than drive, driving in/around Bath is a nightmare at the moment!
