Im organising a Maraude for the homeless peoples in Esch-sur-Alzette.
For this were searching for clothes that will keep you warm during this cold times, sleeping bags etc.
If you do have old clothes that youre not wearing anymore, please consider donating them !
This month and the following will be very cold and unfortunly not everyone can sleep in a shelter especially since the places are very limited ( 18 places in Abrisud in Esch/Alzette ).
Youre also more then welcome if you want to participate in the maraude, just send me a message and we will get in touch with details etc :)
If you do have clothes that you want to donate, you can bring them to GreenPlace Grow Shop in Esch/Alzette. Ill try to pick them up at your place if you cant bring them to us :)

Hi I was thinking of living in Esch-sur-Alzette, but I am hearing that it is pretty dangerous to live there especially at night when you go home. Does someone live in Esch and can share their experience with me?
So the rents seem cheaper, i see some studios for 1000 eur including bills which seems almost impossible in Luxembourg city.
In addition I have been told this area is mostly French-speaking which would really help me a lot.
Could you confirm the points above are valid? Any other advantages or disadvantages?
I don't want to seem cynical or be pessimistic, but I'm not sure I understand the reasoning behind it. There's already a rail line connecting the vdl to esch. I know the train takes a long time to go from lux-gare to esch-gare, but that's just because it stops so often.
The only reason I've seen being expressed in favour of the tram connection is that it would allow to go from findel to esch/alzette without stepping off once. But they could just schedule an express line on the current train infrastructure, going from vdl to esch, instead of building completely new rails for a tram to do the job, no? You might lose a few minutes stepping off and on, but if it's scheduled properly, it wouldn't take much longer than the proposed tram line.
Am i missing something? Why build so much infrastructure, when the current one could do the same job if utilized properly?
Has anyone else just now heard this high pitched noise outside? Sounded exactly like the sounds in forest grove. I do occasionally hear noises from the factory near belval byt jve never heard anything like that before. More like a big flute playing the sams sound again and again.
Moien! It looks like the perseid meteor shower peaks this evening and tomorrow morning. Does anyone know a decent observation spot in Esch Alzette? My wife and I live near the gare. Thanks!
I just visited the DΓ©iereschutz in Esch and I was disappointed to find that they are closed indefinitely due to COVID.
Does anybody know where I can adopt a cat? As it seems all shelters are closed.
Edit: Thanks for all your replies. I'm probably going with her for the next few mornings. I'll hang back and watch and see what happens. I'll encourage her to speak up and assert herself if she's overlooked. We tried to contact the Brisbois via their website but the contact form fails with a 404 'forbidden' error.
Original: We're new to Luxembourg and quickly falling in love with the country and the wonderful people who live and work here.
But today my fiance reported to me that she was refused service at the bakery attached to the Esch Alzette Gare. She said that the employee kept telling her "one moment" while serving people who were behind her in line. After this happened a few times, she said it became obvious that no one was taking her order.
She gets a baguette from the case and a coffee every morning. Today she went to work hungry.
Is this possibly just a misunderstanding? Should we report this to someone at the bakery or somewhere else?
I'm hoping it's just a misunderstanding but she's pretty good at telling when someone is snubbing her. But it sounds out of the ordinary here.

Ordered wrong tickets first.. went to Berlin the last night but now Iβve got 2 tickets left for Luxemburg 13.10.19... just message me for a picture. It would be irresponsible to let these tickets expire. If you know sb who knows sb... who lives in Luxemburg just ask around
