A list of puns related to "Alternative Comics"
Hi, looking for suggestions for storing modern comics. I'm about to place an order for Gemini's short boxes and curious what other brands should I look at. How do you store your comics? Thanks!
Is there an alternative Windows app to read scanned comics that flows from panel to panel like the Marvel Unlimited app? The ComicRack Reader and CDisplay are good readers, but I find it frustrating to use the magnifying glass a lot.
Does anyone else put their singles on a shelf? Those who don't use boxes, what do you use?
Hey there folks. Everyone here has been super cool and I've shifted quite a big chunk of this collection via the group. Thank you! This is my last ditch attempt here before eBay for what remains.
I've got a collection I built up over 20 years, a long box full of mostly complete runs of stuff by Anders Nilsen, Charles Burns, Sammy Harkham, Chester Brown, Hernandez Bros, Brandon Graham, Alan Moore, James Kochalka, Adrian Tomine, Gipi, Daniel Clowes, and much more. Some stuff is signed by artists / authors and sketched in.
I'm at the point where I need the space more than I need the comics, and want it to go to fellow indie comics enthusiasts. Happy to sell single issues, but would like to keep full runs intact.
Full list here, with each issue give an approx grading. Most stuff is VF condition, some verging on NM. UK buyers preferred, but if you're willing to take the hit on international postage, message me up and we can talk. Price will be based on ebay average of sold listings, but I try to offer the best possible price without fleecing myself. Detailed photos on request, comment here and drop me a PM.
PM if interested. I can point to 100% ebay feedback from years of selling as well as vouchces in the old sales thread here from happy customers on the group.
Thanks and happy browsing.
Curious to know whatβs everyone solution to reading comic book on your PC, mobile (iOS/android) and web?
As well as a solution that allows you to share your library with others.
Iβm looking for an alternative to what Plex offers for media.
Thanks!
I'm an extremely visual person, which means that my writing can often veer into incomprehensibility as I overdescribe every detail. But I also struggle knowing what to cut, because I often design these details with purpose. (eg You must know that this character is slightly chubby because, in comparison to the very thin main character, it indicates an ability to enjoy life that the main character doesn't have. You have to know that this other character is wearing a hoodie with the hood down because it means that they only feel able to express themself when they have a means of escape. etc) This would be perfect for a visual medium of storytelling like a comic!
But I can't draw. Everyone says "Oh, just practice and youll get better!" But i have practiced and haven't really improved. In a lot of other art forms I've been able to improve steadily (I paint dolls, for example, and have gotten much better over time. My calligraphy has also improved) but drawing seems immune. Perhaps I could reach a level I would be happy with if I spent several actual years on it, but I don't feel like doing that for a single creative project. I don't have a passion for drawing, I just want to tell a specific story.
So have you heard of a not-drawing artform I could reasonably learn myself and use for visual storytelling?
Helllo good people of /comicbooks,
Iβm on the lookout for lesser known and obscure comics both old and new. Iβm interested in experimental stuff that pushes the envelope or stuff thatβs just straight up bizarre.
Web based or physical is fine and Iβm not fussed about country of origin.
Enlighten me.
Holy hell why are their translations so trash? I almost quit RSM before realising that there are better translations out on mangadex. But the sequel isn't on mangadex. I tried reading the first irregular sequel to RSM on imperfect comic but i just can't do it. It's too incoherent. Is there really nobody else besides imperfect comics? I have to drop this other wise cause reading this gives me a headache. It really sucks cause i was enjoying the series. Whoever did the translation for rooftop sword master on mangadex should do the sequel.
Personally, comedy in stories that aren't lighthearded takes me away from the immersion and sometimes makes me take the stakes and drama less seriously. Not too much but I still notice a difference. I'm also not a big fan of having characters that are included just for comic relief.
So, what else can I use to make a serious story enjoyable without it getting overbearing?
I collected trade paperbacks and I never read them. Was never into comics, I just enjoyed collecting them. I'm living in Alberta, Canada. I know I can sell them on ebay, but I'm curious is there are any better alternatives. I wouldn't bother with kijiji or facebook market as dealing with people on there is a real headache as 80% of people always ask if I'll accept less than the price I denoted.
So I really like comic draws features but 10 bucks? Idk, the only thing I really like about it is that you can flip through the pages of your comic that you made and organize the pages, so Iβm wondering if there are any other apps that allow me to do that?
i absolutely love this genre(?) of comedy (sean hughes being my favourite comic of all time) and would love some recommendations! could be comedians in general, sitcoms, live shows, sketch shows etc
Hey there folks. I tentatively asked about good places to sell last week and had a bit of interest from people here. Have made two smooth sales, one to the admin u/LondonFroggy and one to u/StandardWhole. Can also point to extensive eBay feedback selling comics and other collectables.
I've got a collection I built up over 20 year, a long box full of mostly complete runs of stuff by Anders Nilsen, Charles Burns, Brandon Graham, Alan Moore, James Kochalka, Adrian Tomine, Daniel Clowes, etc. Got stuff like full Black Hole run, Eightball #1 first printing, full Optic Nerve run. I'm at the point where I need the space more than I need the comics, and want it to go to fellow indie comics enthusiasts. Happy to sell single issues, but would like to keep full runs intact.
