Found the whole DVD box set today and will be binging. As someone who followed Charmed during its original run, I was very pleased to watch Witchblade during its original run and saw it as a sort of hybrid of X Files and Charmed (as close as we were gonna get) with a more comic book take. It was pleasant to see another TV show revolving around witchcraft during a time when Charmed was the only thing around on live action TV.
Maybe once or twice a year I give a nostalgic thought to Witchblade and Yancy Butler and perhaps time has dulled my memory but I seem to recall the show fondly and was particularly enamored with YB. She was stunning on screen and her character certainly embodied some of the Warrior Princess vibe. So it was with great delight that I recently ahem obtained S1 and not surprisingly while not 4k quality it is certainly more then watchable. Honestly I have no idea if I ever watched the series to conclusion and according to IMDB it ran 2 seasons but after watching S1 Ep 1 I can say for certain that YB still holds my undivided attention.

For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.

I have no clue what the plot of this movie was and gotta laugh at the amount of slow motion (I swear there was some slow motion when some guy was just moving something on his desk) but the action. Holy fucking shit! It's insane. Especially the climax. Thumbs up would watch again
some thoughts
-Van Damme was a good action star and believable in the action and stunts
- this feels more like a Woo film (based on what his trademarks are) than Broken Arrow which feels more anonymous
-Yancy Butler is hot though not much of an actress
-Wilford Brimley as a Van Damme's uncle with a Cajun accent? Best casting ever

Film takes place in New Orleans and was actually shot there which adds a nice authenticity

movie was shot by Russell Carpenter who would go on to shoot True Lies and Titanic for James Cameron

the movie was apparently horribly butchered in the editing room. You can tell as the movie feels haphazardly edited. Apparently the international cut is longer and the cut that Woo prefers and there are even longer workprint versions floating around out there.
-Sam Raimi produced the movie and apparently directed the opening scene. Other scenes also feel very Raimi esque
-Lance Henriksen and Arnold Vosloo make for a great pair of villains (even I don't quite understand what their scheme is lol). Henriksen is an actor that always brings a sense of class and a strong presence to a movie no matter how bad it is
