A list of puns related to "Woodhaven and Cross Bay Boulevards buses"
Thinking about doing a grand fondo from the UWS to Rockaway tomorrow via the Belt and coming back over the Cross Bay and up Woodhaven to Queens Blvd then into LIC and over the Queensboro. Is taking Woodhaven north from the Cross Bay a dumb idea or a really dumb idea?
This is a serious post, and so please pause your fingers before typing, "Not gonna happen" or "Wishful thinking."

The So-Called Freedom Marches
I am a fan of non-violent direct action to protect the planet and to change unjust laws.
Non-violent direct action does often entail a choice to break the law, understanding the consequences that may flow. This does not of itself diminish them as a means of environmental protection and political change.
However, I unequivocally condemn the so-called βFreedom Marchesβ in Sydney, Melbourne and Gold Coast.
First, because they were organised by and were infected by neo-Nazi antisemitic racists. For a second-generation holocaust survivor family, I have never seen such confronting material in Australia in my lifetime. I am glad my grandparents, refugees from Hitler occupied Austria, did not live to see their adopted and beloved country so pus-filled. While some who attended, particularly on the gold coast, had other more localised agendas, if you lie down with dogs you get up with fleas. In particular, I have not seen one word from our local Byron Bay keyboard warriors of anti vax, sovereign citizen, no-mask, anti-lockdown condemning or distancing themselves from this tripe. Instead, they hail the protesters as heroes. Their silence on prejudice condemns them. Their true colours and true agendas of bigotry and hate are showing.
Second, these are not non-violent direct actions at all. In terms of actual physical unlawful force I am well aware that police are wont to exaggerate the violence of protesters and minimise their own. I have seen horrible acts of police brutality on protest lines, although less likely now with the proliferation of mobile camera phones. (I was repeatedly punched in the head by a special branch police officer when a law student squashed against the police lines rallying against Malcom Fraserβs threat to introduce university fees). However, I have spent some time analysing videos and online sites and there is no doubt that particularly the Melbourne protests were characterised by a high level of violence by the protesters. The Police Commissioner described them as coming armed, intent on attacking police, and the most violent in 20 years. Nine police officers were hospitalised. There is nothing I have seen on a range of right-wing websites and social media to contradict that conclusion.
Further, the protesters were unmasked and did not practice social distancing. In my view such action is akin to violence. Being unmasked and not social distancing poses a danger to the police at the protest, to the familie
... keep reading on reddit β‘Its been more than a year now since they closed due to a kitchen fire, and repairs and renovations were initially expected to take 2-3 months, with the restaurant looking to reopen around April-May. For most of the last year however, the lot has sat vacant, fenced off and it appears as though the location has been written off completely. It looks like Steak n Shake began closing some of its restaurants nationwide last May, but I've heard no updates about the Bay Pines site in particular in at least a year, since most of its staff have moved to the location across from Largo Mall on Ulmerton. Anyone have any inside news or whatnot on any recent happenings?
