It's got a fantastic sense of humour particularly love B.B. I mean his name literally is Basil Faulty!!!

Last night I was running around Toussaint when I came upon a small girl running across a bridge, randomly I interacted with her to talk, she stopped and just said "My brother gave me a sword, It's name is Needle". At first I didn't question it then a moment later I realised what she said and chased after her to interact again to which she said something like "Is winter really coming?" This girl is Arya Stark!!!

I went into this game having heard all the stuff and dubious of how good it could actually be. Everything I've experienced I've been blown away by! And this DLC is just the icing on the cake.

i know its 4chan and nobody should take it 100% seriously, but it sounds really interesting, taking how much time already passed since game release, CDP should give us some info about their progress on fixing the game and DLC expansions that we were supposed to get (big expansions similar to Blood and Wine and Hearts of Stone from The Witcher 3). all this info sounds really really good, there's some stuff players wanted from the start, like garages, improved AI, minigames and other stuff to do be

This was by far the year I played the most in my entire life. I finished 56 games and played 7 more that, for different reasons, I ended up quitting. There were only two I played from this year so those won’t be on the list for obvious reasons. All except Limbo, DOOM 3 and Dead Space were first playthroughs. I shared my views on the majority of these on this sub, so let me know if you’d like more detailed thoughts on a specific game and I’ll post a link for it.

With that said, here is the nutshell version of My Year in Gaming, in order of play:

1. Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice - Good story, amazing graphics, very stylised, satisfying if repetitive combat, and very unique take on mental health using audio cues. Some puzzles felt a bit obtuse. 8.5/10
2. UFC 3 - Fun to play with a decent enough balance between career mode, punchy mechanics and fluff to justify a playthrough. 6.5/10
3. Blair Witch - Most people hate on this game but I actually enjoyed my time with it. It loses a lot of its appeal in the second half but overall it’s well worth a playthrough. It features a really cool camera mechanic and one of the most painful gaming memories I had this year. 7.5/10
4. Ninja Gaiden II - Hack and slash at its finest. Not as atmospheric as the first one but still pure chaotic fun. The setting is a bit of a turn-off. 8.5/10
5. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order - Very enjoyable. Beautiful world, simple mechanics and solid combat. Really brings with it that sense of Star Wars adventure. Has a couple of issues and its hub world sometimes feels a bit restrictive, but nothing that takes away from the experience in any meaningful way. 8.5/10
6. A Plague Tale: Innocence - Surprisingly awesome. Really good story, competent if basic stealth mechanics, good pace and fully realised dark medieval tone. A bit clunky and the characters can get on your nerves at times, but a highly recommended game. Can’t wait for the sequel. 8.5/10
7. Alien Isolation - Can’t remember the last time I felt such sense of dread in a game. It excels at making you feel uneasy and helpless, and the alien’s AI is one of the biggest accomplishments in recent games IMO. A bit of jank but it was on the whole one of my most memorable horror playthroughs. 9/10
8. The Witcher 3 - Took me literal hours and several tries to get into it, but after 1 hour in Velen I fell in love with what has now become #2 on my GOAT list. 10/10

The backstory: At the tender age of 14, I fell in love for the first time. It was with a friend in my class at school. She had me hook, line and sinker. She was kind, funny, intelligent and beautiful.... And she didn't feel the same way. It was a hard pill to swallow but I accepted her feelings and we were close friends. My feelings for her persisted in one form or another throughout high school and into our 20's. I never sat around waiting for her- I dated and loved other girls, but a piece of me always held a candle for her.

We had lost touch for a while but a few years ago, she got in touch with me. We hung out with our old friends, some group dinner parties and met each others families. At this time, she was married and so was I. We then both got busy with life and didn't see each other for a little while other than the odd social media post/comment. During this time, my marriage was breaking down (for reasons totally unrelated to my friend). My ex and I filed for divorce but remain amicable.

Current situation: I recently found out that my friend had also gotten a divorce. Her husband had been cheating on her. When I found out, I called her to ask how she was going. We had a pleasant chat, she said she's doing really well and was in a good place....and she asked me out to dinner to catch up. Now, we'd never hung out one on one when we were married as it would have been somewhat inappropriate. There was nothing that indicated anything but platonic feelings from her end when she asked me over the phone, so I was just excited to spend time with my friend.

We agreed it would make more sense for me to pick her up as i would be driving almost by her house to get to the restaurant. She walked out of the house and I don't know what happened in that moment, I saw her and immediately, I was 14 again. I started quivering, my voice was shaking, my words made no sense. The first hint of the night that she may not just want to be friends: the way she was dressed. I was expecting jeans and t shirt, but her slinky dress screamed date night. I turned to jelly. She was still so fucking beautiful.

I've recently picked up Inquisition again, and it has me thinking about the way my views on the various companions have, in some cases, shifted since first playing the various titles in the series. Has anyone else found that they initially disliked/hated certain companions throughout the series, but over the years they've actually come to appreciate them?

Origins

For me, its a case of the reverse scenario in this one. I started off quite liking Oghren, and I found him rather tragic, but I intensely disliked his character in Awakenings.

DA 2

Also something of a reverse... I initially liked Anders, especially in Awakenings, but.....by the conclusion of 2... OK, I didn't exactly hate him at the end, but I found him utterly stupid and frustrating. He's that sweet, compassionate idealist you know in university who eventually falls in with a crowd of militants, people who can no longer see the bigger picture, or the consequences of their actions.

Inquisition

• Sera - I couldn't stand her, initially. She reminded me waaay too much of a lot of the people I've dealt with/worked with in real life.. At heart, she's decent and well-intentioned, but she sees her world in terms of black and white, rather than the complex shades of grey it is. However... over the years I've come to appreciate her sense of humour and ability to add lightness to a place that was often pretty dark. I feel she was probably onto something with her pranks, and more insightful than I'd given her credit for.
• Blackwall - there was always something about him that just..... ugh... even before I had seen his full story. On one hand, he was a gruff, brooding type, but, on the other he acted like an eager to please puppy dog around the PC. I've often had a (fatal) weakness for the brooding types, but I'm not fond of people who act as though they're going to widdle on the carpet out of excitement when you pass by (it was also an odd quality to juxtapose with the gruffness). After a while, though... I began to respect the guy's innate decency, and deep desire to right his wrongs, in addition to the way he stepped forward so that an innocent man didn't hang. Admitting to fault, and potentially putting yourself at risk in the process... takes guts, and somebody, who, despite it all, is a good person. I have yet to do his romance (ditto with Sera), because I almost always get sidetracked by Cullen; it's that look Cullen gives you in the Haven Chantry just before you leave... gets me

So, I suppose Diogenes Laertius would think either the image, or the joke Chrysippus made, was at least a little funny. Why? Is it because eating figs and drinking is a human activity? Is it because the donkey was already associated with human stupidity (and Chrysippis laughter has anything to do with observing human folly)? Is it related with the undiluted wine? What's the deal with donkey food?

PS: I hope I could add a non-specific question as an extra. Chrysippus was known for being funny, but no works of him have lasted. Are there mentions of Chrysippus' arguments or shenanigans which are humourous?

My opinion about this was pretty good and I considered this one as my favorite guilty pleasure for the entertainment and it's comedy aspect. It is not at all perfect and there are so many issues with this like the actress sucks ass and there are some cringe humour but that doesn't take away my enjoyment. My question for you guys is that do you enjoy this movie or not? Do you think it does aged like milk or fine wine? Need your guys thoughts and remember, please make this conversation as civil and respectful for the other opinions.

I wanted to share some positive updates which may hopefully inspire some of you in my (HLM) and my wife’s (LLF) position.

Things I’ve done well:

It’s really been the talking that has helped.

I’ve made an effort to have a glass of wine in the kitchen with her every now and then, just to talk without distraction. As a mum of 2 young boys she says she has very little adult conversation. We just talk about anything really but it often gets deep and we talk about the future.

She’s also started job hunting, which in itself has boosted her confidence thinking that she can be ‘more than just a mum’. She had lost her sense of identity.

We have had sex twice in the last week. The first time was fun and funny. To be blunt she had to fart and was trying to hold it in, but couldn’t and farted on my balls. Now I joked and said it felt nice and could she do it again - we laughed our assess off! Neither of us are into that sort of stuff and her humour is kinda weird where she laughs at fart jokes, which for a pretty high brow woman I find interesting. I’m not crass around her generally but it was a real moment where sex felt fun again.

I’ve spent the holiday break away from work and being present with the family doing all the meals, taking the kids out so she has time to herself and making plans together. I do a lot already around work but in the past I would’ve snuck in more work (imposter syndrome and workaholic) but this year I didn’t.

A day or two passed including NYE where I had hoped for sex but the kids were late to bed and we were both tired. No biggie. No sulking.

Then we started watching queer eye together which we both enjoy. It’s a guilty pleasure but we talk around the issues and it’s a way for us to connect.

Many in the party and the Government have made note that a few days ago marked 281 days as Prime Minister, something that had not been accomplished in mhoc until now. Solidarity has managed to govern, uninterrupted, for nearly two full terms, establishing continuity in left-wing leadership. I have had the honour and privilege to lead these governments, and as we on the left take today to relish the accomplishment, I would like to give some thanks, and in turn, reflect on the road we have all taken.
Of course, everything begins with /u/motelblinds, who built Solidarity from the ground to number 10 within less than a term. He did so by being the most motivational, ambitious, and confident leader in the sims history, and by tirelessly working to ensure that the left united under the banner of Solidarity. I had no intention of returning to politics with the aim of reaching leadership or even the front benches - I was entirely willing to stay a fringe force in the CPGB(r). It was /u/motelblinds recognition of my value that convinced me that it was worth giving Solidarity my full energy - and he did the exact same with dozens of other members to immediate success. I can not understate how much my accomplishments have merely been maintaining the trajectory laid out by him - any honest look at our polling (particularly if you remove the LPUK distortion), reflects that.
It was the confidence of /u/motelblinds, and even more so /u/ABrokenHero, that motivated me to make a bid for Deputy Leader the month before GEXV, which ultimately was the only way I could be a legitimate candidate for Leader the month after the election. /u/ABrokenHero’s endorsement both ideologically and personally was tremendously influential, and something I reflect on even now.
The true unsung hero of Solidarity’s rise, particularly in my tenure, is my Deputy Leader and Foreign Secretary /u/ARichTeaBiscuit. Akko has been beyond reliable since day 1, in every role and task they have taken. They have worked tirelessly in all capacities, representing Britain on the international stage, navigating through crisis, and taking every challenge and criticism head-on. The docket is stacked with bills written by them, and their tireless debating has ensured the party message is always advanced. We, and I most of all, would not be where we are without Akko.

Obligatory long time lurker disclaimer.

I’ve started a post here and deleted it more times than I can count and this isn’t even the most offensive thing she’s ever done but for some reason it got me good so here I am.

So my MIL, who I’ll been calling Professor Umbitch, is a very, very, VERY conservative member of her religion. It’s been a problem lots of times, and her favourite refrain is “that’s not what I think, it’s what God thinks.” She’s hated me since the moment teenage D(ear)H told her we were dating 12 years ago, before she and I even met. She was much more vocal about it back then, before DH started calling her out. But as DH has grown up, he’s been able to put her in her place, and most days she appears to have mellowed out.

Other cast members here include BIL (DH’s brother), SIL (his partner), and GMIL (Umbitch’s mum).

So GMIL has Alzheimers and has been deteriorating kind of quickly over the past few months. It’s been hard on everyone, so when Umbitch was at BIL’s house and one of those phone memory things from last spring popped up with a lovely cover photo of BIL and GMIL smiling, of course BIL wanted to share.

Unfortunately, there was a 2 second video of me in there. I was laughing, surrounded by smoke, holding a thin cylinder in my hand.

This was a video from DH’s birthday where we had indulged for the first time in a very long time, and BIL had taken the video to memorialise how happy and chill everyone was for DH’s 30th.

But Umbitch only sees the world in black and white, and God told her that coffee is the same as heroin (which is an actual quote and a story for another time) so imagine her reaction to this.

She immediately tries to grill BIL, who shuts it down and moves on. He is able to do this because other people are present (not me, but DH and SIL were around).

But Umbitch never gives up that easily, so BIL gets a phone call at 9:37, after everyone is of course in their own homes. Her opening sentence is asking what drugs I’m on. He tries to shut her down saying it’s none of his business and also none of hers, but she’s not having a bar of it. To his credit, BIL fessed up to doing it as well but she seems to have literally not heard that part of the conversation despite having responded to it at the time.

She ended up keeping him on the phone for an hour grilling him. Some highlights of this conversation included how she knew this was bound to happen because I drink coffee and wine which are also addictive s
