I know I posted this on team Louis but I meant to post it here
There have been rumors of a possible expansion, so let’s imagine it does happen, but the NBA decides to only add one new team to the league (sorry Vegas), bringing back the beloved Seattle Supersonics. The Sonics are back babbyyyyyyyy!
Now the Sonics need to build their team from ground up, starting with the expansion draft, and following it with signing players in the off-season.
Here are some simplified terms of the expansion draft:
Atlanta Hawks:
Protected:
Unprotected (Salary this year, Years left on the contract)
Eight teams remain, soon to be four; but for now there are still six potential Super Bowl rematches we could see. The year in parenthesis indicates the football season, not the year when the Super Bowl was held.
Here are the potential rematches:
SB 1, Chiefs vs Packers (1966). Packers Victory, 35-10. The first half of Super Bowl I was competitive, as the Chiefs outgained the Packers in total yards, 181–164, and kept pace with Green Bay by posting a 14–10 score at half-time. Early in the 3rd quarter, Green Bay safety Willie Wood intercepted a pass and returned it 50 yards to the 5-yard line. The turnover sparked the Packers to score 21 unanswered points in the second half. Bart Starr is named Super Bowl MVP. The game remains the only Super Bowl to have been simulcast in the United States by two networks. NBC had the rights to nationally televise AFL games, while CBS held the rights to broadcast NFL games; both were allowed to televise the game.
SB 16, Bengals vs 49ers (1981). 49ers victory, 26-21. Cincinnati's 356 yards of offense to San Francisco's 275 marked the first time in Super Bowl history that a team which was outgained in total yards won. The Bengals also committed four turnovers to San Francisco's one, which played a major factor in the outcome. The 49ers first Championship win, and Joe Montana's first Super Bowl MVP award.
SB 23, Bengals vs 49ers (1987). 49ers victory, 20-16. The game is best remembered for the 49ers' fourth-quarter game-winning drive. Down 16–13, San Francisco got the ball on their own 8-yard line with 3:10 on the clock and marched 92 yards down the field in under three minutes. They then scored the winning touchdown on a Joe Montana pass to John Taylor with just 34 seconds left in the game. Jerry Rice is named MVP while putting up 215 receiving yards, which is a Super Bowl record still held today.
SB 34, Titans vs Rams (1999). Rams victory, 23-16. One of the most famous Super Bowls, marking the beginning of "The Greatest Show on Turf" led by undrafted backup QB, Kurt Warner. Largely a defensive battle during the first half, the Rams were only able to take a 9–0 halftime lead on three field goals, despite outgaining the Titans 294–89 in total offensive yards. Super Bowl XXXIV became best remembered for its final play, where the Titans reached St. Louis' 10-yard line with six seconds remaining, but linebacker Mike Jones tackled wide receiver Kevin Dyson one yard short of the goal line to prevent a potential game-tying t
... keep reading on reddit ➡My interest in boxing got renewed in 2017 with the AJ-Wlad fight. Like many new fans, I found it daunting to figure out who was the best, and which belts to pay attention to, and how to balance all the criteria people judge fighters on.
As a baseball fan, I've always paid attention to advanced metrics. So I was naturally drawn to Boxrec as a new boxing fan. The more I learned about the sport, the more disenchanted I became with their rating system.
Currently, Jimmy McLarnin the second best fighter of all time, P4P. Holman Williams is seventh. Sammy Mandell is fifteenth. Among active fighters, they have Briedis, Wilder, Callum Smith, and Ugas in their top 10. I could go on - but I think you get the point.
I like what they're trying to do - but I think their rankings can often be nonsensical.
About a year or two ago, they changed their formula so that when a fighter loses, all his previous fights decrease in value. So, for instance, when AJ lost to Usyk - he's now, all of a sudden, not as good when he beat Wlad in 2017. I thought this decision was stupid. There is an ebb and flow to a fighter's career. It makes no sense to change how good someone is across time and space based on an individual result. A fighter is only as good as they last guy he beat. He can be great in one fight, and then washed three fights later. That happens.
So I set out to make my own rating system.
Mine isn't "perfect", by any means - but it seems to track better with other rankings I've seen. Here's my top 10 P4P list (compared to the average ranking between Boxrec, ESPN, TBRB, and The Ring):
Now, my rater doesn't strictly match how I'd personally rank them. I'd rank Usyk 2nd, for instance, and I think Chocolatito is a bit too high. But, overall, I think it does alright.
For anyone interested, my all time top 20 is:
My all time rankings are a bit

1 (1.67) | Florida Panthers | 1 | 26-7-5 | 3-0-0 | 50 goals in 8 games. 21 goals in 3 games. 16 goals in 25 hours. What a time to be a Florida Panthers fan! Offensive things are happening in Sunrise in a serious way. All-Star winger Jonathan Huberdeau is outdoing himself, leading the league in assists and within reach of the lead for points. But the contributions are coming from all over the lineup, with 8 players on pace for 20+ goals. Florida is on an 8-0-1 run and looks exactly like they did in October. Here's a mid-season breakdown of how the Panthers season has gone thus far. |

Summary of Daniel Webster's Second Term
In Webster's two terms in office, he ended the Civil War, and took the country through the first stage of Reconstruction. But now, the Whig Party must once again find a presidential candidate. Many divisions have presented themselves such as slavery, the controversial and failed Treaty of Uppsala (which would've sold Santo Domingo to the Swedish), and the annexation of Texas. While Henry Clay is seen as the most likely to win the nomination, in this convention, it could really go to anyone.
Henry Clay: Representative from Kentucky Henry Clay started off his career in politics as a Burrite, but eventually he left the party and began advocating for the American System, which entails high tariffs, internal improvements, and a National Bank. Clay has served as Speaker of the House and is now an extremely influential Whig leader, now in the Senate. Before the start of the Civil War, Clay was focused on doing whatever he could to maintain the Union, first opposing the deal between Jackson, Webster, and Adams (on the Spanish-American War), because he thought that it wouldn't appease the south, and then coming up with Clay's Ordinance, a more moderate solution to the slavery issue meant to replace Jefferson's Ordinance.
During the war, Henry Clay helped pass Frelinghuysen's Tariff and was reluctant to ally with the British Empire. He was also a critical supporter of the Emancipation Act of 1835, being a strong advocate for gradual emancipation. He supports the Frelinghuysen Tariff. Clay opposed the Treaty of Uppsala because he is a member of the American Colonization Society, an organization with the goal of sending free black people to Africa, but he considered Santo Domingo a more convenient place to send freed slaves than Africa. He strongly supported rebuilding relations with France and opposed the Indian Removal Act. Clay supports the annexation of Texas, but is worried that any attempt to annex the republic will be seen as a sign of aggression by Mexico.

Administration:
Vice President: Vacant (1909-1910), John D. White (1910-1913)
Secretary of State: Shelby M. Cullom (1909-1911 (resigned)), William McKinley (1911-1913)
Secretary of the Treasury: George Walbridge Perkins (1909-1911 (appointed Ambassador to Japan)), Henry Ford (1911-1913)
Secretary of War: John M. Parker (1909 (resigned)), Stewart L. Woodford (1909-1913)
Attorney General: Charles J. Bonaparte (1909 (promoted)), Robert H. Terrell (1909-1913)
Secretary of the Navy: Albert J. Beveridge (1909 (resigned)), Charles J. Bonaparte (1909-1913)

Postmaster General: George L. Wellington
Secretary of Agriculture: Marion Butler (1909 (resigned)), George Washington Carver (1909-1913)
Secretary of Labor: Terence V. Powderly
Secretary of Science and Technology: George Westinghouse
Lynch entered office to find the letters of resignation of Secretary of Agriculture Marion Butler and Secretary of War John M. Parker upon his desk, though neither officially cited race as a determinant in their decision it was widely speculated to be a reaction to serving under Lynch. Lynch would replace Butler with renowned black agriculturalist George Washington Carver, who would place the Department of Agriculture in close cooperation with George Westinghouse's Department of Science and Technology. 73 year old New Yorker Stewart L. Woodford, a former ally of Roscoe Conkling and a longtime Roosevelt critic, was controversially appointed to replace Parker. On December 27th, Albert J. Beveridge would tender his resignation as Secretary of the Navy, to be replaced by progressive Attorney General Charles J. Bonaparte. Yet, the promotion of Bonaparte would open way for scandal, as Lynch appointed his former law partner Robert H. Terrell to the Attorney General position, denying allegations of nepotism and noting Terrell's qualifications as a civil rights lawyer. The overwhelmingly Federal Republican Senate would confirm all appointments soon after returning to session in 1909.
The issue of the Vice Presidency was soon opened, with Charles J. Bonaparte and Joseph I. France, both of Maryland, floated as possible candidates. France was considered the most likely choice, yet at a mere 35 years old he was deemed too young

Domestic Policy:
- 1837 saw the end of the Cholera epidemic in the United States.
- The state of Michigan was accepted into the Union in 1837.
- Webster has strongly supported infrastructure projects, both supplementing the prosperous north and rebuilding the ruined south. In the north, the National Road has been extended from Ohio into Illinois and has been linked with the Natchez Trace in Tennessee.
- Additionally, taking the advice of Secretary of War Edward Coles, Webster has invested in several new modes of transportation, especially the railroad.
- Turning to Reconstruction, Congress passed the Thirty Percent Plan in 1837, which required 30% of seceded states to swear Ironclad Oaths to the Union, before they can be reaccepted into the Union. The plan also granted amnesty to most rank-and-file and middling officers, but it didn't give pardons to prominent Confederate leaders or military officers of high rank.
- Louisiana, the territory with the least loyalty to the Confederacy, swore their Iro

Greetings, 49ers faithful. I am a former diehard St. Louis Rams fan and current diehard St. Louis Rams hater. Just dropping in to let you all know you have the support of our city this week. Seeing the players and coaches plea with their fans to attend their own home game is hilarious. You are already in their head!
After years of watching my St. Louis Rams battle with the likes of Frank Gore, Patrick Willis, Justin Smith, and others, it is funny to consider how much my stance on this rivalry has changed, lol. My dad spent time living out in the Bay Area many years ago while in the Air Force and somehow a 49ers sweatshirt he bought way back then has survived all these years and made it to my wardrobe. You better believe I will be sporting that this weekend. Thanks for reading my small little ramble session here. Wishing you all success! Enjoy the fun!
GO NINERS! PACK THAT STADIUM!
I gleaned a lot from this sub before our trip and wanted to do a long overdue recap to the Big Easy in case it helps others later. Some of the COVID-19 related info is probably out of date by now because of Omicron, womp. The focus of this trip was eating, drinking, and seeing and doing New Orleans things. What a great city. We walked everywhere and got over 20k steps each day, except for the driving days in the middle.
Travellers: My partner and I are from Toronto, Canada and we were double vaxxed at the time of the trip (now triple vaxxed). Neither of us had been to NOLA before.
Date: December 11-19, 2021 (9 days). [Omicron was starting to become a thing around this time. I was keeping an eye on the news and hoping it wouldn't mess up our plans. Luckily, it didn't, but days before departure we had to re-book the rapid antigen tests needed to enter the US from 3 days out to 1 day out.]
Day 1: We flew Delta and had a transfer in Detroit and almost missed our flight. The connection time was barely legal (40 mins) and the first leg got to the gate later than ideal. We ran for what felt like 20 mins through the airport but we made it on our second flight (also with Delta) just in time.
A tip I got from this sub was to take a taxi from the airport to our accommodations. We stayed at The Lookout Inn in the Bywater area. We compared the fare against Uber and Lyft, though, and the prices were comparable but the taxi stand was right there—super convenient.
Dropped our bags and went across the street to Jack Dempsey's for dinner. It was a no frills place offering mostly fried seafood and the portions were huge. We could have shared a main and a couple of apps, which we learned from and was what we ended up doing for most of the rest of our trip. He had an Abita, a local beer (not bad) and I had a hurricane (really sweet). We headed to Parleaux Beer Lab next for a few drinks, and also got a few beers to go. We chilled out and made a rough plan for the next day.
Day 2: Went to Lowpoint Coffee for coffee to go, then happened to come across the St. Claude Ave bridge so we looked at the canal. We wandered to an area close by that has been long abandoned. My partner photographs urban decay and took a bunch of pictures here. I don't know what this area is called but it

Low offensive output in 3 of the past 4 games. Could just be "road Panthers" or could be that the scoring surge is actually simmering down. Spencer Knight had a strong game against VAN, which is incredibly reassuring after a string of lackluster results. |

The downside is they are winning sloppy, they are starting to get outplayed and still pull out wins. Great on occasion, but not a good habit. The team does look tired. They have not had more than two days off in a while and that may have been before the restart. and it seems to continue until the All-Star break.
