Atlantic (1929) was based on the sinking of the Titanic, but the name of the ship was changed because of lawsuits by the White Star Line. It was released in English, German and French sound versions, as well as a silent version

im gonna wear a white star line shirt to work
i dont have my vest yet so it wont be covered. its just a plain black shirt with the words "white star line" on it. its an old uniform from when i was in the titanic musical. for ppl who dont know, theyre the company that owned the titanic.
i know nobody will notice, but its at least something i can chuckle at, cuz i feel like a crew member of the titanic as it was sinking with how lowes have handled everything so far.

Shortly before the Titanic departed, American aristocrat J.P. Morgan withdrew his plans to go onto the voyage. Coincidentally, he owned the company that owned the White Star Line company, which constructed the Titanic. Did he ever speak on this? Did he ever detail why he decided not to go?
Iβm watching the commentary on A Night to Remember with Don Lynch and Ken Marshall. They mentioned that the White Star Line company who manufactured the Titanic was owned by an American company, along with another popular shipping company at the time I believe. The American company that owned them both was apparently owned by J. P. Morgan.
This made me recall that in James Cameronβs Titanicβs special features, he mentioned that maybe around a week or so before the departure-I donβt recall exactly- that Morgan had withdrew plans to travel on the ship. Why?
(Btw, a side note this is where the fictional character Roseβs familyβs stateroom was intended to have been by Cameron because it may have been empty during the voyage after Morgan cancelled...though its speculated that Bruce Ismay could have roomed there!)
Titanic was allegedly quite the social/cultural event especially for the aristocrats, having many popular millionaires of the time being on the ship.
I found this J.P. Morgan situation to be pretty odd...that the man who actually owned those companies and who was one of the most popular millionaires of the era didnβt go on the voyage?
Why did he skip out? Especially if he, in a technical way, literally may have owned the ship-or at least its company?

I toured the SS Nomadic while in Belfast. In June 1911 she began her tendering duties for the White Star Line. On 10 April 1912 she transported 274 passengers to RMS Titanic (which was to large for the Cherbourg Harbour) for the liner's maiden voyage. Sheβs the only White Star Line vessel left.

TIL White Star Line, the company widely known for the Titanic had at least 5 other disasters with other boats. This includes another flagship hit by an iceberg, a navigation disaster that led to one of their ships sinking on her maiden voyage, & the disappearance of a massive cargo ship.

The White Star Line lost 2 of their 3 flagship ocean liners in the course of 3 years (RMS Titanic and HMHS Britannic), yet were still in business well into the 1930's. How did the company survive such a massive loss of investment with the sinking of two of their most expensive building projects?

TDIH: Thomas Henry Ismay, born January 7, 1837, was the founder of the Oceanic Steam Navigation Company, more commonly known as the White Star Line. His son was Joseph Bruce Ismay, who travelled on (and survived) the maiden voyage of his company's ocean liner, the RMS Titanic, in 1912.
