A list of puns related to "Wellington College, Wellington"
Got an email from the principal about something regarding social media, inclusiveness and something that happened at a girlβs house. School isnβt really giving any info. Whatβs this about? Does anyone know?

I am working in a country where they compensate me generously for my efforts. I was phoned by this strange man by the name of Steven Richardson (Most likely a fake name since I can't find records of him anywhere)
It was like something out of South Park.
Every sentence ended with him saying "O-KAYYYYYYY", and he spoke rapidly and wouldn't let me get a word in. Any time I spoke, he would ignore what I would say, and interrupt me. He said the school had been open for 200 years, and had a fantastic reputation, and it was better for me to take a step down in my role for less money than to remain in my current leadership role. He then said I wouldn't be allowed to take my partner with me - at that point, I was kind of done. But here's the joke - he asked me how much I earned, and then said he wouldn't be able to offer half as much, with almost no benefits to me, but said I needed to realize that the reputation of his school was superior and would benefit me tremendously if I returned to England - which makes no sense as nobody would care.
When I told him politely that I needed to consider the entire package, such as having the ability to save money, and that the remuneration was important and a major factor in moving considering my partner could not come - he went mental "I WILL PUT YOUR CV FORWARD, OKAYYYYYYY, BUT YOU NEED TO UNDERSTAND THAT THERE IS MORE TO LIFE THAN MONEY OKAYYYYYYYY. I AM SO DISAPPOINTED THAT MONEY IS YOUR MOTIVATION HERE OKAYYYYYYYYYY"
I was so triggered I didn't even respond to his email with a 'Thanks for the interview' or arrange a second interview- just deleted it. Two masters and doing a doctorate just to earn a decent living so I can get a mortgage that will cost me less than rent.
They charge each student around 47,000 USD a year.
I wanted to let you all know about a theft of my sons E-scooter at Wellington College on 30 September. Just keep an eye out. I have a photo of him, but it's not clear, and it won't let me post it. It happened at lunchtime when other students were there, he had a knife and a hack saw and was able to get thought the lock VERY quickly! Just a warning to make sure you lock things up tight where are can see them, cause this guy was very brazen! Goodluck people!
FYI: Wellington College took it very seriously, and did what they could! luckily a couple students were smart and took video of the guy in the midst of his thievery.
thats all!
It's especially bad when there's a whole crowd of them at 3:30 at the back of the bus. The recent covid scare seems to have had no effect on their culture around this.

The Stuff article I learnt about this from.
This whole thing makes really mad because as a recent graduate from this school (Class of 2019) I know that this isn't normal for the school. At all. There were never any issues with tank tops in the past. When I went into Year 13 we were just told we need to dress appropriately. Nothing about how much skin we could show, nothing about smart casual. It was just "be appropriate". Many of us wore tank tops and weren't sent home. I don't even remeber there being a single incident over what someone was wearing that entire year.
And what's more, although I don't know this for certain as I heard it through the rumour mill in the year below me, is that the reason the PE uniform was changed when I was in year 10 from being in winter you can wear leggings and long sleeved tops if you want to the other pants being allowed are track pants was also because of a male teacher!
This is absolute bullshit because the students have never had an issue with tank tops. People would basically wear whatever they wanted and none of them got told off for showing their skin of a tank top! People who wear boob tubes didn't get in trouble either. The culture at the school is so toxic and one of the few things they had going for them is that you didn't have to worry about getting pulled up on dress codes over bullshit like this. But no more! They never even gave us a defined dress code in Year 13 at any point. The closer we got to one was ball dresses and even then it was just "check with your Dean if you're unsure". And to send someone home over it is even stupider!! The whole things makes me really mad and disappointed in my school and JD.
I'm a newbie graduate student starting in Sept looking for a place to live near the university. Both Wellington Woods and College Ave seem to be the best options for grad students. Which would you go for?
Hi Everyone, as the title says, I please need your recommendations - my sister is moving to london with her two kids to attend fanshaw college (the campus on 1060 wellington). Looking for a clean one bedroom in a good neighborhood in a good school district for the kids. She doenst have a car so hoping for a place with good transit. Any recommendations would be welcomed! :)
Every new year I make personal beef Wellington for anyone who is visiting us.
.5 lb filet mignon seared prior to bake Homemade mushroom pate Prosciutto Store bought pie crust for the pastry (Full recipe if it's requested can be added later)
Everyone who has ever tried it was in love, the only 2 complaints I've ever gotten is one mildly undercooked steak, and a consistent "the bottom of the pastry is too soggy" from myself and a few others.
I have tried searing the steaks longer, flipping the wellington half way through cooking, and baking in a wire wrack. None seem to be able to prevent the bottom from being too soggy and ruining the pastry on the bottom.
Anyone have their own recipe that has a fix for this?

... keep reading on reddit β‘I'm going to be slaughtered for this but as someone coming to Wellington from a much smaller part of New Zealand it almost seems like a cult. I've been here for a month and it's overwhelming... by the way I am working in government if this explains anything... but have made friends outside of government, all lifelong Wellingtonians though.
Everyone seems to think it is the best place in the world and it is not up for discussion. All I did was bring up the fact that all the flats I have seen for a reasonable price are cold and moldy and all I got was "At least we aren't Auckland, this is still the best place to live" on repeat. I keep hearing about amazing coffee and amazing food but my dad lives in Melbourne and objectively speaking, Wellington is absolutely discount Melbourne with worse weather and terrible PT and housing...
I don't know its just in a lot of other places in New Zealand, we understand that we may not objectively be the best palce in the world, but it is the best to us for sentimental reasons. In Wellington they're so... almost American patriotic. I like Wellington for the most part but my god...
Edit: to the people sending me scathing hate messages, you can stop now because someone at work found this lol and I'll be hearing about it tomorrow. I said I like Wellington I just didn't understand the pretentious attitude that some people have, and clearly those people have reddit accounts too
Edit 2: thank you to the redditor who sent me https://mobile.twitter.com/postitivewelly I am sort of glad I am not alone in seeing this is a thing
Every country has something that is stupidly cheap compared to the rest of the world. What is it for Wellington or NZ in general?
(Yes Iβm a foreigner, hence the question)

Edit: Thanks everyone for your input. Iβm relieved to hear that Iβm not just completely out of the loop and that this type of machine isnβt the norm. To clarify, I do know that machines generally have a next/skip/other option, but this wasnβt available. Weβve always really enjoyed Anthonyβs and will likely be back, and I will actually speak to someone about it if itβs the same machine. I donβt hold any ill will towards them and understand restaurants are struggling. We were just having a rough day today and this relatively small frustration felt emblematic.
I went there to pick up take out tonight and when paying, the machineβs only options were 18% tip, 20% tip, and 25% tip. No βotherβ option, no $ amount option, no back option. Just choose one of the above 3 or cancel transaction. Iβve never seen this - is this normal now? Weβve been mostly getting delivery or eating at home, so I havenβt physically gone out to pick up take out for a while and wondering if this is a pandemic thing? Iβm happy to tip during these crazy times, but when two pizzas and an appetizer is about $60 after taxes, 18% on top of that for take out seems really absurd. Am I just out of the loop?
The server was busy and then more people came in right behind me, so I was too embarrassed and frazzled to ask. I pressed every other keypad option other than 1-3 in hopes that there was a secret βotherβ option not in view, but nothing happened until I hit option 1.
Ottawaβs downtown is sizeable enough for designated trams, like in Toronto, but why doesnβt it? It would reduce traffic and ease travel within the cityβs core. Plus itβs far cheaper than an LRT. What gives?
