24 year old Delecia Waddy's last message on social media stated "Its never too late to do the right thing. Don't get discouraged. (Speaking to myself also)." It is unclear what she meant by this message and whether it had anything do with her disappearance on March 9, 2017.
Around 11:30 a.m. that day, Delecia arrived at Kings Dominion Wilderness campground at 10061 Kings Dominion Boulevard in Doswell, Virginia. The campground's gift shop surveillance video shows Delecia asking the rate for a cabin rental before leaving abruptly. After leaving the gift shop, she left the area walking even though her silver Ford Explorer had gas and no mechanical issues. Later around 4 p.m., she was seen walking barefoot along Meadow Farm Road around 4 p.m in Caroline County, Virginia. Witnesses who reported Delecia walking actually recorded her on their cellphone because they found it odd she was walking barefoot.
Delecia's family reported her missing on March 10. Police recovered her SUV near the Kings Dominion campground on March 10 and her purse, phone, wallet, license and other personal items were found in the nearby Meadow Event Park. They used a helicopter, ATVs, boats and search dogs to look for Delecia and also conducted a door-to-door search in the area but found no clues.
3 days after she went missing, Delecia was seen in Richmond, Virginia on Fendall Avenue by an acquaintance. The acquaintance was unaware that Delecia had been reported as missing at the time. Doswell, where Kings Dominion campground is located, is approximately 30 miles from Richmond, Virginia. It is unclear how Delecia arrived in Richmond considering she left her SUV behind at the campground.
Delecia's mother, Felecia Waddy, called her daughter's behavior bizarre saying she has never gone this long without contacting someone in the family. She pleaded for her daughter's return in a news conference saying "it's been real hard on me." Delecia has not accessed her bank accounts or used any social media or her cellphone since her disappearance.
Delecia remains missing. She has multiple tattoos, including hearts on both sides of her collarbone, leopard spots on one arm at the shoulder, the name "Brian" on her breast, an anchor on the other breast, words across her abdomen just below her breasts, the name "Metria" on her wrist, and additional tattoos on her lower abdomen/hip and her calf.
