A list of puns related to "Virtue signalling"
Steven Speilberg said he would not subtitle the Spanish parts of West Side Story as he did not want to take power away from Spanish speakers. WTF does this even mean... It makes absolutetly no sense and unnecesarily will make the majority of viewers miss parts of the dialogue. If anything, subtitles empower the Spanish speakers as it allows non-Spanish speakers to understand Spanish characters better. The lack of subtitles simply alienates both sides.
Also, this is a movie. The whole point is for it to be understandable. Why is it that if you watch this movie in other countries the English is subtitled but not the Spanish. It makes no sense and Speilberg should stop being applauded for this ridiculous decision
Iβve been in Asia for a few years now and Iβm here to say that bathhouses teach young people that ageing is a natural process and that bodies have flaws. In the West, even before Instagram, there was a cultural issue of women aspiring to look like celebrities from magazines. This was because most young men and women literally had nothing realistic to compare their bodies. In bathhouses in Asia, there are centenarians, people with scars, people with weight issues, etc. Nobody gives a shit. There is a general consensus that it is a safe environment and is just simply reflects the reality of time and body differences.
Iβm not saying East Asia doesnβt have its own set of shallow standards, but I have a feeling the hollow body positive movement isnβt as pervasive because people actually have a realistic understanding about bodies.
Another issue is that Westerners equate nudity with sexuality which are two entirely different issues.
Lastly, Westerners have this arrogant idea that bathhouses somehow belong to cultures less hygienic. The same people who think bathhouses are disgusting are the same people who go to gyms and public pools. To start with onsen and (or other similar bathhouses in the East) are more hygienic as they are constantly getting cleaned. Not to mention the fact, if you think a flimsy piece of spandex is going to somehow guard you from any possible filth in theory, youβre delusional.
Why does the Government and people on certain subs need to be sorry or send condolences to people who have died with covid?
The death is obviously sad for friends and family of the person, but an internet stranger on reddit saying sorry and be sad for random people dying is just ridiculous.
These people want to blame the government for everything. No one gives a fuck is you miss your cancer diagnosis or die of something that may have been preventable in some way. But if covid is related then everyone is sad and angry at the government.
Then on the flip side if someone in their 90's dies who isn't vaccinated then they get the "fuck you, you deserved to die" from the same people.
βI have asthma, am fully vaccinated, etc. and I still wear a mask, even when going for a run . If I can do it, you can tooβ
Yes Karen, we get it. Youβre a fucking saint! But just because you love torturing yourself doesnβt mean that the rest of us do. Stop trying to guilt trip me into wearing a mask. Go virtue signal somewhere else.
Rant over.
Malcolm X warned us about this ages ago, but I'll put it out again.
I remember a so-called 'left leaning progressive socialist' white Australian friend of mine trying to whitesplain to me about how as a fellow liberal who practices liberal values, I should also be supporting the Hong Kong protesters. I said that I would support them if they had the self-respect and gumption to take the Singapore route of separating from Mainland China in the same way Singapore divorced from Malaya due to ideological differences. But I cannot under any circumstances respect a movement calling for the colonizers back to Asia, and waving British flags. There was simply no Lee Kwan Yew in the Hong Kong protestor movement - a strong Asian leader who could stand on his own two feet and not be babysat by the West. The HK protesters lacked confidence to rule themselves, they didn't have a blueprint of HOW they would govern Hong Kong if they were independent from China beyond going back to Great Britain as a colony, and so they didn't inspire much confidence in me. They seemed weak and emasculated.
He said something along the lines of, "Not really fair to judge the British by what they did in the past, Chris. If I had a binary choice between Mainland China and Great Britain, I'd also choose to be ruled by Great Britain. Also, please try to understand their position instead of belittling them - waving British flags isn't cowardice, it is survival and self-preservation. And get this next line: (will BOLD the words as this is important)
"THEIR PARENTS PROBABLY SPOKE VERY HIGHLY OF BRITISH RULE."
This tells you all you need to know about some white Western progressives like Vaush, Bill Maher, or David Pakman who call themselves progressive. In reality, they only call themselves progressive because it is fashionable and trendy to do so (it is very unfashionable to be called a conservative or right winger), but when you actually analyse their viewpoints, they are anything but progressive. Pakman and Maher, for instance, are ardent proponents of the Israeli Occupation of Palestine, who often use Orientalist tropes when describing the Arabs/Palestinians, ie 'violent anti Semites who treat women badly', who need a more 'civilized' race of people (ergo the Israelis) to keep them in check. Vaush, on the other hand, decries anyone who criticizes the HK protestors as a 'tankie', and gets really angry and defensive when he feels that he as a white Western man is being attacked. I have li
... keep reading on reddit β‘People who constantly on social media "Oh I donated this" or "I saw a man / woman in the street and I bought them lunch" Yeah just post it for social media likes from your friendship groups, random strangers etc showing how great you are.
You are just a narcissistic arse who loves attention and if that mean whoring out some homeless person to show us how great you are, then just don't.
So Newcastle got bought by Saudi Arab and now it makes me think wow so much for all that virtue signalling during the Super League talks by Perez, It's almost funny that they (Newcastle fans) are legit celebrating their takeover and at the same time all those PL fans in r/soccer legit abusing Perez and Real Madrid. Not gonna lie it makes me really proud that we are an example of Royalty, of real heritage, of real legacy.
I hope we bash all these taken over clubs in the future and let them know what real legacy is like and now with Mbappe coming to us hopefully next season, it will be a big middle finger to the oil rich clubs that you just can't buy Legacy, History and Prestige.
