A list of puns related to "Vanilla software"
I know asking this queation is equivalent to pulling the pin on a grenade in the linux community, but this question has been in my head for a long time. I have used both arch and manjaro before, and honestly i dont think there is anything that arch can do that manjaro cant. Actually, let me rephrase. I think they are so incredibly similar that there is no reason to choose vanilla arch over manjaro
I was wondering if the issues with software were a result of bad configs or is Ryzentosh still unstable and has probelms with software I really want to jump from intel
I'm assuming it was because it wasn't a web development specific interview that maybe the interviewer didn't know JavaScript. There were several instances where I could have used ES6 higher order functions to simplify things, but the interviewer thought that they were plug-in methods.
He also didn't understand why I was using let/const instead of var, but I explained it was updated syntax that just about every browser supports now, but he seemed to be annoyed when I tried explaining.
I understand how these things can be confusing to someone who doesn't use them, but there was another software developer in the room who I thought they had their for situations like the one I was in; someone that knew more about modern technologies that would understand what I was doing better, but he didn't say anything at all throughout the entire whiteboard section.
This was a fairly big company, too that I thought would be more up to date on modern technologies.
I'm not sure what to do if I get whiteboarded again. Part of me thinks I should learn a different programming language like Python or Java just for whiteboard interviews.
Thanks for the advice.
EDIT: For those saying the interviewer wanted me to explain the technicalities behind using let/const vs var, I doubt he was looking for that based on his tone and lack of clarification. There was an instance where I used const for an array and pushed onto it and the interviewer was concerned that I declared a const and was adding items to it and I explained that I wasn't redeclaring it, so I could do so but he didn't seem to care.
Up until some updates ago I was fully able to play the game, without issues. And now I get either the error message above or "Unable to authenticate".
I have done nothing to alter my phone, no rooting, custom roms or w/e. I ran a SafetyNet check and it came back negative, though I'm not sure how I should interpret that. I tried emailing Niantic, which in hindsight seemed worthless. The message (I assume was automated) only gave me the login email for my account. Really useful stuff there.
Am I missing some backdoor house-maid trick that will make it better again, or is my phone screwed just for being a unique snowflake?
My phone is a Sony Xperia Z (original) 5.1 Lolipop And I'm an outdated, out-of-work and confused indivudual.
So I was reading online about the new LG Nexus 5X and it was saying that the new Nexus is more of a vanilla phone, indicating that it lacked a lot of the bloatware that other android phones had but didn't really go into much detail. Does anyone have any idea of what specifically is difference between the software on a Nexus 5X as compared to another android phone such as a Samsung Galaxy S6? What do they really mean by "vanilla" and "streamlining the software". If possible can you provided links to articles that talk about this? I'm really interested in reading up on these differences.. so I don't buy a phone that lags all time.
Hello, im trying to make a server but i have never done it before. Can you join PaperMC servers from a normal minecraft launcher without having to download anything?
The funeral director was asking us what we think Mum should wear in her casket.
Mum always loved to wear sarongs (fabric wraps that go around the torso and drape downward a bit like a long skirt would), so my uncle suggested that she wear a sarong in there.
The funeral director looked a bit confused, as did some of our family members, to which my uncle added:
"What's sarong with that?"
I started laughing like an idiot. He was proud of it too. The funeral director was rather shocked. We assured her, and our more proper relatives, that Mum would've absolutely loved the joke (which is very true).
His delivery was perfect. I'll never forget the risk he took. We sometimes recall the moment as a way help cushion the blows of the grieving process.
--Edit-- I appreciate the condolences. I'm doing well and the worst is behind me and my family. But thanks :)
--Edit-- Massive thanks for all the awards and kind words. And the puns! Love 'em.

Sometimes I see people asking "What server jar should I use?". A lot of it depends on what the servers for, is it private or public? Will it have plugins or mods? So in this post, I will give some suggestions for each of these that you should try. There are so many forks I can't suggest them all so you can go to here for a bigger list.
For this I recommend using fabric, fabric is a modloader but you can add server-side mods to boost the performance of the server, Lithium is a good example or you can find more here (thanks to u/mountainrebel for the link. Fabric doesn't break any vanilla features, unlike Paper (dupe fixes and breaks some complicated redstone contraptions). Fabric also works on snapshot versions of minecraft!
There are many server jars you can pick that support plugins so here are some I suggest. I will be covering the main versions of Minecraft that servers use, 1.8, 1.12, and 1.16.
1.8 - For this version of Minecraft I suggest using PaperSpigot (Paper). It has many bug fixes and it has performance improvements. It also has more config options to customize your server!
1.12.2 - For this version, I suggest PaperBin, PaperBin is a fork of Paper 1.12 that fixes dupe glitches, bugs and provides support as Paper dropped their support. PaperBin uses jvmti to modify Minecraft classes at runtime, if you cannot figure out how to use this use normal Paper instead.
1.16 - For this version I highly recommend Purpur, Purpur is a fork of Paper with many performance improvements, it also adds many fun unique features like getting damaged when running with scissors (shears).
There are a couple of options for this. All of these are for forge mods + plugins, no fabric mods + plugin hybrids here.
1.7.10 - For this version I recommend mohist, it is the most popular 1.8 bukkit + forge hybrid server currently with support. 1.8 - sadly I haven't found any 1.8 server jar to support bukkit + forge.

True story; it even happened last night. My 5-year-old son walks up behind me and out of the blue says, "hey."
I turn to him and say, "yeah, kiddo? What's up?"
He responds, "it's dead grass."
I'm really confused and trying to figure out what's wrong and what he wants from me. "What? There's dead grass? What's wrong with that?"
.
.
.
He says, totally straight-faced, "hay is dead grass," and runs off.
And then you will all be sorry.
No it doesn't.
Now itβs syncing.
He replied, "Well, stop going to those places then!"
I will find you. You have my Word.
She said how do you know he was headed to work?
βthank you for your cervix.β
Made me smile
