A list of puns related to "Vanessa (opera)"
Also, the extremely washed out, brightened up filter on Christine that makes her nose disappear.

Maria Callas was originally slated to create Vanessa in Samuel Barber's opera. Despite the use of her photo in early promotional material on the opera's premiere, Callas either backed out or never actually agreed to do the role. As a result, Sena Jurinac was all set to make her Metropolitan Opera debut in the role until she fell ill not long before the premiere. Eleanor Steber was then enlisted to sing the entire run of performances.
Samuel Barber received the 1958 Pulitzer Prize for Vanessa. An interesting note: The composer, librettist and conductor were all openly gay. Barber and Menotti were living together as a couple.

The world premiere of Samuel Barber's "Vanessa" at the Metropolitan Opera House last night, added up to a great triumph for the composer, the librettist, Gian Carlo Menotti, for conductor Dimitri Mitropoulos and for a fine cast.
A brilliant audience which crowded the vast spaces of the Metropolitan to capacity, singled out the principals for repeated applause and gave the composer and his associates 17 calls at the final curtain. This was the first American opera to be heard within these walls since Bernard Rogers' "The Warrior" was produced in 1947.
The new opera, by the West Chester, Pa. composer, was given a sumptuous and meticulously detailed setting by Cecil Beaton, which emphasized the Northern background of the story of love lost and love regained.
Mr. Barber has written a sophisticated score with plenty of vocal opportunities for the singers. The preludes which anticipated the scenes were particularly evocative. There were solos for soprano Eleanor Steber and duets between the heroine and tenor Nicolai Gedda, excellent in the role of the volatile Anatol. Strong personal successes were obtained by Rosalind Elias, as the forsaken Erika, and by Giorgio Tozzi as a kindly and

But a concern I have is that in asking for scale like this, the writing may suffer. It feels like it happens often in both fantasy and sci fi.
When dealing with either an endless war, or thousands of years, in the end, there is no heart. No characters with depth or feel.
Does anything fit this? Because while I'm opposed to another version of The Martian, or Project Hail Mary...I guess if the writing is there, I'm fine with a middle ground.
From her moveset, to her animations faithfully capturing the traditional Chinese opera movements in dancing and fighting, now to hiring an extra VA to actually perform the singing, MHY really outdid themselves when it comes to character design. Chinese opera isn't for everyone, and that's okay, but regardless of whether you like this art form, we should all give MHY massive props for how they treated Yun Jin.
This is especially considering that THEY PUT IN THIS MUCH EFFORT KNOWING THAT THEY WILL GIVE ONE FOR FREE DURING LANTERN RITE. This was NOT a cash grab move since they won't reap significant economic benefits like they would had Yun Jin been a limited 5*. We can only speculate that they gave Yun Jin this amount of care and attention to faithfully represent Chinese opera, not just as a cash grab. I hope we continue to see this level of dedication towards future character designs, especially as we move towards other regions with which Chinese developers may not be as familiar!
Edit: I respect those who disagree with my take, but those of you who are using the logic of "they don't deserve praise for doing something right because they did XYZ wrong in the past, e.g. Aloy," I hope you are able to let go of whatever mistake you made in the past that still haunts you today, because that's a pretty toxic and unhealthy mindset.
Just wanted to say itβs really refreshing that Yunjin has a whole second VA dedicated to her Chinese opera lines, and theyβre performed as they would be in real life - especially for me as someone who grew up feeling a lot of shame around my cultural heritage with these things. I know some folks in the YouTube livestream chat were laughing at her Chinese opera voice, and I get that it sounds very different from Western opera, but I hope theyβll learn to appreciate it too.
First, I'd like to give some backstory on how I came to be on the show. Gosh, there's so much to write, so buckle up.
Here's the timeline:
April/May/June 2017 - Steven and I had known each other for a while. He starts calling & texting me a lot, and inviting me over. He's sweet, he can be pretty funny, and we have good conversations. He showers me in compliments. I'm 20, and I like how he makes me feel. He's goofy-looking and goofy-acting, but this just makes me think he's innocent and I'm making a safe choice by being with him. Like I said on the show, I was going through a faith crisis, and it was a low point in my life. I was young, confused, depressed, grieving, and had never had a boyfriend. We bonded over having a deceased parent. Since Steven seemed devoutly LDS and was pursuing me, the relationship made sense at the time.
July/August/early-September 2017 - Steven is going to Russia for two months on an internship. By this time, he's already completed his mission in Ukraine over a year ago. He doesn't meet Alina there.
We decide to date once he gets back. We don't want the beginning of our relationship to be long distance. I clarified this at the Tell All, but it was edited out: I don't think he cheated on me in Russia. I told him he could go on dates in Russia because we were not official yet, and I went on dates during this time, too! We were both seeing other people. However, I asked him not to go all the way, and he agreed to these terms, but he still did it. I consider it a betrayal, but not cheating.
On top of that, Steven didn't tell me he betrayed me until I'd already been his girlfriend for a month. He didn't give me the chance to consider his actions before agreeing to be with him.
September/October/November 2017 - Steven and I date. I was his first real girlfriend. At one point he said "I'm so happy I was with you while I was poor, that way I know you're not a gold digger".
So, funny story: Once Steven finally confesses to his Russian philandering, I'm very upset for a few days. Steven was STILL talking to the girls he hooked up with in Russia, and when I asked him to stop talking to them, he refused and said they were his friends. We're arguing, so Steven decides to take me on a hike to cheer me up.. While we're on the hike, I start crying again, but Steven does not comfort me at all. Instead, he starts a photoshoot. I'm sitting there crying, and Steven starts setting up MY phone camera at different angles and t

This isn't a new thing by any means(sadly) but I would like to take this opportunity to encourage discussion about the way her presentation was handled.
Without a character having a partner (Fischl and Oz), Yunjin is the first character in Genshin Impact who will have two separate voice actors. This is due to miHoYo wanting to preserve and respect the Chinese tradition of Kunqu opera by presenting it as close to its original form as possible. Personally, I feel that this is an excellent and very respectable decision, and should be celebrated as miHoYo has presented traditional Chinese culture to a large audience.
However, as many who have watched the livestream would have noticed, it's very jarring to have her switch between such a unique singing style immediately to English, and this is further emphasized by how different the voices of the singer and of the English voice actress are.
While it is perfectly reasonable to criticize this decision, it would be better if a level of respect is maintained for miHoYo's efforts to preserve the art in its presentation. Rather than mock something that is unfamiliar to ourselves, we should strive to understand more about what can be seen as a very elegant form of art.

Below is a link to a performance of an excerpt from The Peony Pavilion by Tang Xianzu, a renown playwright that lived in the same era as William Shakespeare, with them commonly being compared to each other due to similar writing styles as well.
Vanessa suffers from a reptile dysfunction
Arghhhβ¦ soooo I hope this doesnβt end up being right because itβs very soap opera-esque. Then I thought about what game weβre all talking about, and thought this is possibly going to turn out to be it just to spite me.
Everyone keeps saying Vanessa is Gregoryβs mother, or acts motherly towards him. Which is ridiculous as Vanessa is I think confirmed to 23, and Gregory 10. She would have been far too young. So as I keep reading Vanny is Gregoryβs mum theories I keep repeating βsheβs not his mumββ¦ the I paused and repeated βsheβs not HIS mumβ. So far this series has a history of children looking like clones of their parents.
If Vanny turns out to be Vanessaβs previously thought to be dead mum I will have to bring salt to season my hat... as I eat it; But I wouldnβt be surprised.
Michael was a perfect match for William. So much so the animatronics couldnβt tell them apart.
I donβt think Gregory, Vanny and Vanessa are a family unit. But if the Baby theory doesnβt pan out thereβs a chance that the identical parent theory might.
Especially if Vanessaβs mother had been married to a high up Fazbear employeeβ¦ before the divorce. And estrangement.
Plus the random Afton family Easter egg of the STAFF robots seated around a table as the Afton family. With the mother at the HEAD of the table, as in the mother is in charge of whatβs been going on?
Yesterday I listened to Alice in Wonderland by Unsuk Chin. I read the book as a child, but only now I realized how insane the story really is and Chin's music reflects this very good, for example there is a six minutes long bass clarinet solo when Alice talks with the caterpillar and some passages could have came straight out of the pen of Schoenberg, Webern or Stockhausen. So do you have any suggestions that go in this direction?
I'm an egyptian girl and like most of you, I came here to meet people and I have thankfully. But I always used to think, would I have been able to do the same if I was indian? with all the memes about weird people from india harassing people, it can be easy for people to generalise. Im just here to tell you. Literally the best people I met here are from india. of course you have to he careful and check red flags with anyone to see if they are a creep, but india has more than a billion people dude. They are the most caring, loving, accepting and understanding people I met. they give me so much warmth I feel I'm floating in the air. I really am grateful for my two indian friends I met here. so next time you find an indian people in your dms please dont be phased by the stigma and give them a chance. you might be missing out on meeting your best friend.

The girlfriend and I just checked out Repo, it was a revisit for me as Iβd watched it about a decade ago but it was her first time seeing it. We both really enjoyed it but for surprisingly different reasonsβ I love the music and most of the performances, where as she loved the aesthetic and style of the film.
Was just curious what you lot thought of the movie, did you like it or hate it?
