A list of puns related to "Undertank heater"
I'm wrapping up the setup on my crested gecko terrarium. I have my heat lamps, my uvb lights, my fogger and mister.
Is it worth putting an undertank heater on a bioactive terrarium? Obviously there's water, then soil. Would this increase warmth and humidity? I know my gecko won't be hanging around the ground of course.
As of this morning I own a beautiful ball python! Iβm very excited but the starter kit (20g tank) we got at repticon included one undertank heater and my digital thermometer is reading the tank at 69 degrees even after almost 12 hours, it wonβt get any higher than that unless I crank the house AC to over 75 degrees. Does anyone have any advice to keep her warm in the mean time? I borrowed an under tank heater from my hermit crabs and slapped it on the side of the tank as a temporary measure but I donβt understand why the uth isnβt able to get the temperature even close to her necessary temperature range! Please help, any Advice is appreciated!
I'm new to snake keeping and just got my first snake. One thing that's worrying me is that the heater doesn't really feel hot, just sort of warm. Is this how it's supposed to feel? I'm very used to my bearded dragon's light being too hot to touch so I was expecting the bottom of the tank to be uncomfortable to touch at least.
I've finally managed to get a undertank heater for my leo but I forgot to double check instructions for how to correctly install it. The tank is a 20 gallon but the heater is significantly smaller than the tank so I don't really understand how exactly it install it. I placed it onto the bottom and it's already stuck on.
The heat mat under one of my tanks is warped, is there a way to fix this?
I've never owned a thermostat before (I keep inverts) but now that I'm beginning to expand my collection to some desert species, I need to add extra heat. So regarding the Herpstat 2, are you able to have two different enclosures heated at different temps? For example one of mine need to be 85 day, 75 night and the other 80 day, 75 night.
Also, to keep the heat 'in' the enclosures (I am housing all my slings in deli cups right now), I was thinking about getting a Styrofoam Ice Chest and then putting the heat tape or Ultratherm Undertank Heater (UTH) in it to keep the ambient temp to the desired values. DO you think this would work fine?
And last thing, regarding Ultratherm Undertank Heater (UTH), has anyone used these? Are there any advantages to using these over Flexwatt? I'm debating heavily between the two haha
So our snakeβs undertank heat mats keep pooping out on us. This one, a Zilla heater, weβve probably had for less than a year and only part of it is getting warm now. Does anyone know of any good undertank heating pads that will actually last, preferably with adjustable temperature, that arenβt too expensive?
Greetings all. Meet Simon, my juvenile bp. Iβve had reptiles before, but never a snek, and now I have one. Had him about two months, and all seems good so far. Heβs a solid, mellow pet rock, he transitioned to frozen thawed with a couple feedings, he shed twice.
Enclosure is a 15 for now (will move him to a bigger one when he gets older). There is a screen top, with half of it blocked off with a sheet of plexiglass. Temp and humidity are about as good as I can get it (limitation is probably our house). Air temp goes up during the day, but humidity goes down, the reverse at night (but both with the acceptable parameters.) But hereβs the thing. IN his hide, itβs damp. Like damp, damp. I donβt know what the exact humidity is, but the inside of his hide (exo terra cave thingie) is wet when I pick it up to handle him. And so is he. Substrate is coconut bark, I mist it every day, he has an undertank heater, and air humidity is about 50% in the day, and 70-80 at night.
So I was wondering β should I drill holes in the hide to give it better airflow and less humidity? I canβt think of any other way of getting it less humid inside, unless I stop spraying the enclosure. Does anyone else have damp snek caves?
EDIT: To clarify, temp/humidity refers to air, measured about a third of the way up in the enclosure. Surface is higher - temp is 80-85 measured with heat gun, idk humidity, but there is condensation in his cave (= dewpoint has been reached, impossible to get higher). My question is if it's too much, and what to do.
hi! im looking for an undertank heater for my northern. i live in iowa, and its starting to get cold... i can tell my baby is getting cold too. Is this heater any good? https://www.chewy.com/zoo-med-reptitherm-under-tank-heater/dp/190119
My year and a half old female hoggie has eaten next to nothing since mid-august. It is now late November. Today I found a clump of white mouse fur in the tank. Was about the size of a fuzzy and looked like a hairball out of a cat. I've heard of substrate related impaction but mouse fur? What on earth can I do about that? (Her temperature and humidity are within the recommended range. She has a thermostat-regulated undertank heater and a daytime basking light on the warm side. Always has fresh spring water of course. I had just started her on hoppers when her hunger strike began.) If anyone can shed any light on this or give me any advice I would hugely appreciate it, because I can't find any answers online.

Hello fellow leopard gecko lovers!
I am a 7th grade science teacher, and recently, I just received a grant that allowed me to get a basically free leopard gecko and habitat for my classroom. I have tons of experiences with all forms of pets, so I did my research heavily before I got Dino , my leopard gecko. Here is his current setup:
-20 gallon terrarium with undertank heater set to 90 F on one side. I don't use a heat lamp because I feel the bright light is annoying for a nocturnal creature.
-Hide on cold side and warm side.
-water dish on cold side
-humidity hut on warm side.
-Repticarpet floor (no sand!)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now, here is where I need advice. Please help me alleviate these concerns.
-Dino looks a bit thin, but is it just because he is so young? Similarly, he is barley eating, I am guessing it is just the new tank syndrome most animals go through where they get stressed out when put into a new home.
-My biggest concern: Weekends. As a teacher, I will not be at school on weekends. While I would love to take Dino home, I feel the stress of moving back and forth every week would annoy him. Is he ok to be left alone for two days every week? (Sat and Sun). I will definitely bring him home on breaks though.
-Ants.... Ants are a problem at my school and I worry so much about the ants getting to and killing dino. I remove any uneaten food before I leave to avoid ants, but any other advice?
-Any other suggestions?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Fun Stuff:
-Does anybody know what morph Dino is? He was sold as a Wild Type, but his stripes look a bit paler than usual to me. Perhaps he is just starting to loose them and gain his spots.
-How long should I wait before I can begin handling him? (Note, only I will be handling him until he is at least bigger).
Sorry for the long post.... I only want the best for Dino!!

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
Alot of great jokes get posted here! However just because you have a joke, doesn't mean it's a dad joke.
THIS IS NOT ABOUT NSFW, THIS IS ABOUT LONG JOKES, BLONDE JOKES, SEXUAL JOKES, KNOCK KNOCK JOKES, POLITICAL JOKES, ETC BEING POSTED IN A DAD JOKE SUB
Try telling these sexual jokes that get posted here, to your kid and see how your spouse likes it.. if that goes well, Try telling one of your friends kid about your sex life being like Coca cola, first it was normal, than light and now zero , and see if the parents are OK with you telling their kid the "dad joke"
I'm not even referencing the NSFW, I'm saying Dad jokes are corny, and sometimes painful, not sexual
So check out r/jokes for all types of jokes
r/unclejokes for dirty jokes
r/3amjokes for real weird and alot of OC
r/cleandadjokes If your really sick of seeing not dad jokes in r/dadjokes
Punchline !
Edit: this is not a post about NSFW , This is about jokes, knock knock jokes, blonde jokes, political jokes etc being posted in a dad joke sub
Edit 2: don't touch the thermostat
Do your worst!
How the hell am I suppose to know when itβs raining in Sweden?
Bought my first snake today and picked up one of my favorites. Her name is toothless and she is a Mexican Black Snake. Got her enclosure set up and I think I'm ready. Do I need a lamp over it? She has an undertank heater currently and the thermostat is set to 88. If there is anything i should change please let me know! Thanks!
Ants donβt even have the concept fathers, let alone a good dad joke. Keep r/ants out of my r/dadjokes.
But no, seriously. I understand rule 7 is great to have intelligent discussion, but sometimes it feels like 1 in 10 posts here is someone getting upset about the jokes on this sub. Let the mods deal with it, they regulate the sub.

I know Hoggies don't require uvb but want to give mine a uvb bulb when I get her. What's the recommended uvb% and how long should the light stay on?
I plan on heating the warm side with a heat mat stuck to the bottom outside of the tank. Will I also need a heat lamp, or just the mat for heat?
I've heard they should have a light for a day night cycle (12 on, 12 off). Would I use an LED for this?
Would a 36 inch long by 18 inch back be too big for a baby even if I put a lot of things in there to hide and/or crawl in/on?
