What a great movie! I'm usually pretty neutral on John Hughes movies, neither loving them nor hating them, but I loved, loved, loved this. Every character was spot on, and the interactions and dynamics between them were wonderful. The evolution of relationships was natural, and every moment was both engaging and satisfying. This was the role John Candy was born to play. Too often in movies, I find that I love him more than I like the characters he plays, but not in this one. In this one, he's a nuanced, complex and yet thoroughly lovable individual who develops in a believable and well-earned way.
I was watching John Candy’s (great comedian) Uncle Buck, which also features Macaulay Culkin. Macaulay was recommended based on this character for Home Alone.
Anyhow there's a scene where John’s character is on the call and doing the exact same thing that Sameer*** does in Dil Chahta hai. Only the context here is different.
When I was watching the film, I had a deja vu and realised much later I saw the same thing in Dil Chahta hai. 🤯🤯

Like an Uncle Buck universe. They were basically proposing that other John Candy movies are prequels or sequels to Uncle Buck, following the same character.
