A list of puns related to "Ulster Cycle"
Does anyone have a recommendation of what edition, etc. to seek out the complete Ulster Cycle in English? As part of my studies prior to visiting Ireland next year Iβd like to read this fundamental piece of Irish literature.
Hey everyone, I want to learn more about Irish myths and it seems the Ulster Cycle is the way to go. It seems there are various different editions so wondered if someone could recommend a good version?
Thanks!
"We have not found there a man-at-arms that is harder, nor a point that is keener, more terrible nor quicker, nor a more bloodthirsty wolf, nor a raven more flesh-loving, nor a wilder warrior, nor a match of his age that would reach to a third or a fourth the likes of CΓΊ Chulainn."
CΓΊ Chulainn is a major legendary figure in Celtic Mythology, primarily during the Ulster Cycle. Born under the name SΓ©tanta, The half-god son of Lugh and a Mortal Woman is one of Ireland's most famed heroes. He gained his more famous title after killing the guard hound of the blacksmith Culann and offering to serve as its replacement. His most famous exploits can be found in the TΓ‘in BΓ³ CΓΊailnge, in which a 17-year-old CΓΊ Chulainn stands his ground and protects the land of Ulster against Queen Medb and her armies. Cursed to gain fame in youth, but also to die young, CΓΊ Chulainn was regarded as a peerless warrior, and remained as such throughout Celtic Lore.

> CΓΊ Chulainn strode into the wood, and there, with a single blow, he lopped the prime sapling of an oak, root and top, and with only one foot and one hand and one eye he exerted himself
> He went into the wood at that place and sprang out of his chariot, and he lopped off a four-pronged fork, root and top, with a single stroke of his sword. He pointed and charred it and put a writing in ogam on its side, and he gave it a long throw from the hinder part of his chariot with the tip of a single hand, in such wise that two-thirds of it sank into the ground and only one-third was above it in the mid part of the stream, so that no chariot could go thereby on this side or that.
> CΓΊ Chulainn turned on them, and straightway he struck off their four heads from themselves Eirr and Indell and from Foich and Fochlam, their drivers, and he fixed a head of each man of them on each of the prongs of the pole.
> The watch-dog descried the lad and bayed at him, so that in all the countryside was heard the howl of the watch-hound. And not a division of feasting was what he was inclined to make of him, but to swallow him down at one gulp past the cavity of his chest and the width of his throat and the pipe of his breast. And the lad had not with him any means of defence, but he hurled an une

Are there any books out there that have a translation of all the stories in the ulster cycle as one book? Or would that be too much for one book. Maybe there is a set of volumes on the ulster cycle someone did? Any recommendations for authors or books or websites for thos interested in these stories?
I am interested in other cycles as well but recently read The Tain by Ciaran Carson and this was my reaction to it.

Anyone know of any good books for the ulster cycle or any books for any other cycles let me know. Or any good reading groups. Cheers.
Except for "the Birth" "The Boyhood Deeds" and "The Training of Cu Chulainn, what other stories involve Cu Chulainn as either the main character or an important character?
Being relatively geographically close, I'm wondering if there was perhaps some sort of mutual influence between the two literary traditions. Is there any evidence of something like this? If not, could some of the legends have sprung from a common source?

First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
It's been a while since I last wrote an article for The Power Papers, the paper best known for exactly nothing, but once again it seems that I must dust off my press organisation thanks to the most opinionated and sectarian βOtherβ MLA active today, Kalvin Lokan, and Gregorβ¦ who frankly I havenβt got a joke for. Like I thought that guy retired when the DRF died.
For those of you who somehow missed it, the Labour Party and Progressive Unionist Party have merged. I can't say I'm all that surprised, Labour is in the "merging with anyone who isn't completely dead" phase that all parties go through now and then (see: Tories with UKIP, Classical Liberals), while the PWP are on top of the world in Stormont and were doing alright in WM for a minor party, but had been facing increasing press scrutiny over their hardline unionism and poorly-received legislation.
The Labour Party has been struggling to find an identity and build a new niche ever since the Solidarity party was started by Shane and perfected by KarlYonedaStan. While Solidarity has had a healthy flow of new members and new ideas, Labour has been recirculating for the longest time. Viljo, Connor, Ina, Gregor have all been fed to the Labour leadership turnstiles and haven't managed to light the fire under their party that they needed.
And frankly, I don't think that's surprising. Labour lives and dies based on whether it's party members have faith in the leader to lead them to victory, have hope they can win, and have the energy to do what is necessary to win. Unfortunately, while I believe the successful elections of each of these leaders shows the faith, I honestly don't know if anyone outside of leadership in Labour has actually got the energy, or, if I'm feeling more harsh, interest, in turning up, producing legislation and actually working for the good of the nation. Unless Labour's hiding a clone of Salami somewhere, this is probably the best they could do. It's a damn shame, but it is what it is.
I think the most galling thing about this merger however is how rapidly the Labour party, and the SDLP for that matter, decided to throw away all of their policies on the union, the principles that forced the SDLP to publicly dennounce the CUA for. Aya said that, quote, "the UWP and UUP did not believe in the structure of power sharing", and "they believed they could hold the Nationalist community at gun's point and believe it was perfectly fine." Strong words from a party that decided to merge into

My mortgage with fixed 2.3% interest rate with Ulster bank is set to expire in September 2022. The original plan was to switch mortgage at the end of fixed period. I am wondering if Iβll still have time to avail of currently present lower fixed interest rates or if thatβs all going to be gone by September next year.
We still have some of the highest rates in EU.

Dad jokes are supposed to be jokes you can tell a kid and they will understand it and find it funny.
This sub is mostly just NSFW puns now.
If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.
Edit* I'm not replying any longer and turning off notifications but to all those that say "no one cares", there sure are a lot of you arguing about it. Maybe I'm wrong but you people don't need to be rude about it. If you really don't care, don't comment.

The Man of Steel as the Beast of Iron. Released on June 14, to sync with Donald Trump's day of birth...
The age old Superman story βMan of Steelβ features themes that relate to world domination and the take-over of Earth by an outside force that yet again is looking to rescue its own source of power, its βown worldβ by trashing another planet, in this case our domain - Earth.
The original story of Superman created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, both from Jewish migrant families, tells of an alien child (a god) born to Earth from a distant planet called Krypton. In fact, the original ideas for the story were more about the βreign of the Supermanβ from the comic The Advance Guard of Future Civilization #3, a fanzine published by Siegel in 1933 (below). The German Nazi obsession for βthe Supermenβ is worth noting. Of course long before Superman was a comic book concept, the 'arch black magician' Aleister Crowley was writing about βSupermenβ in 1917 in his work Moon Child. Just like Superman, Crowley seemed to get all over the world at the turn of the 20th Century. The character Lex Luthor (played by Kevin Spacey) looks a bit Crowley-like. Fact and the fiction have merged here. More on that can be found in this sub.
The Magician, genius, arch villain, scientist is interested in the Superman.
According to the story Superman, or Kal-El, was born on the planet Krypton, before being rocketed to Earth as an infant by his scientist/Leader father Jor-El, (more on EL later) moments before Krypton's destruction. The latest depiction of JorβEl (played by the actor Russell Crowe) and Kryptonβs high council are visually symbolic of the Ruling El-ite that we find on ancient Earth, from Sumeria to Egypt and beyond. The regalia and thrones of the High elders of Krypton are no doubt inspired by the imagery and history of the ancient El-ite bloodlines on Earth.
