A list of puns related to "UBlock Origin"
Why YSK: There are so many people who are still using the internet without any sort of adblocker, even though I personally can't fathom how considering how bad things have become these days online. Not just with ads but also trackers and other annoyances such as sponsored parts of videos or paywalls on news sites.
Seriously, we should all be using uBlock Origin and also uBO instead of Adblock or Adblock Plus as those are sellouts with their "acceptable ads" policies. uBO is also far more efficient at bypassing those anti adblock messages. As a side note, Google Chrome and its derivatives such as Edge will soon be introducing Manifest v3 which will limit the effectiveness of adblockers so it might be wise to switch to Firefox before then. No surprise considering how Google is primarily an advertising company so of course they don't like adblockers. (DuckDuckGo is an excellent alternative btw)
You should also know about Sponsorblock which automatically skips sponsored parts of YouTube videos. Sponsorblock is also integrated in 3rd party YouTube clients such as YouTube Vanced and NewPipe x Sponsorblock from the IzzyOnDroid F-Droid repo. (I personally prefer the latter as it's open source and thus more privacy friendly) Sadly, those apps aren't available on iOS cause guess what, Google/YouTube blackmailed Apple to remove 3rd party YouTube apps from their App Store to sell you YouTube Premium instead and unlike Android you can't side load any of those apps. You can still download Sponsorblock from the App Store and watch YouTube in Safari though. Alternatively you can also use a 3rd party YouTube website called Piped Kavin Rocks which also automatically blocks ads and sponsors.
There's also Bypass Paywalls Clean which can bypass paywalls on news websites. Keep in mind that those paywalled articles are still publicly available for everyone, usually as part of their x amount of free articles per month which this extension can increase to infinite, so there shouldn't be any legal concerns with it. Also use the clean version as the regular version comes with Google Analytics.

... keep reading on reddit โกSo I just noticed how my search was filled with totally unrelated videos, all of them seemed to be new. If you have Ublock origin, you can add this filter line to filter them out (seems to work so for, at least for the unrelated new videos):
www.youtube.com##ytd-video-renderer.style-scope:has(span:has-text(/New/i))
If you still have the "Related yo tour search", "for you" and other sections in your results, you can filter those out as well, found this in the past, but I'll copy paste those filters here again:
www.youtube.com##ytd-shelf-renderer.style-scope:has(span:has-text(/Related to your search/i))
www.youtube.com##ytd-shelf-renderer.style-scope:has(span:has-text(/For you/i))
www.youtube.com##ytd-shelf-renderer.style-scope:has(span:has-text(/People also watched/i))
www.youtube.com##ytd-horizontal-card-list-renderer.ytd-item-section-renderer.style-scope:has(span:has-text(/Searches related to/i))
www.youtube.com##ytd-shelf-renderer.style-scope:has(span:has-text(/Previously watched/i))
Filters can be added by pressing the uBlock logo, then the gear icons, then "My filters" tab.
I've never used UBO before but heard of it and I wanted to know if there was any privacy issues before installing?
Sorry if this is a stupid question.
Thanks for your help.
Isn't it a little strange that the OS purpose-built for anonymity breaks one of the anonymity rules of the Tor browser by having uBlock installed by default? Is there any reason for it to be installed in the first place?
Tried watching anime with uBlock on today and got an error message saying that uBlock breaks it. Is this some new change because this never happened the day before yesterday
I have installed the latest version of Tor Browser (v11.0.3) and installed uBlock Origin but the uBlock menu (icon) not showing up on the top bar menu. Help?

Does Pi-Hole use the same format as the blocklists for ABP or uBlock Origin?
For my specific use case, I'd like to add the ABPindo list to Pi-Hole to block Indonesian/Malay ads on my phone inside the LINE messenger app.
Hello r/sysadmin,
I am looking to implement a Chrome extension to our organization but i want to prevent users from changing the extension options.
How do i start from there?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Extension: UBlock Origin
Late update:
Force installed the extension via GPO and blocked access to the options page via the same Chrome GPO as well.
TL;DR:
Want to get rid of the annoying top-bar overlay that pops up every time you move your mouse? Open your uBlock Origin settings, go to "My Filters," add the following line and click "Apply changes."
Before and after (actively using my mouse in both examples)
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Figured I'd share this because it's been a huge QOL improvement for me personally.
I've always found the top info bar popping up over the video whenever I move my mouse super annoying. I know I'm watching PSG.LGD vs Fnatic in TI - I do not need a banner popping up on my video every time the mouse moves showing me the channel emblem and channel name, and covering the top portion of the video with all this information:
>dota2ti_3
>[EN] PSG.LGD vs Fnatic - Dota 2 The International 10 - Group Stage Day 2 - Stream B
>Playing Dota 2 for 58,997 viewers
I know all of that and it provides literally nothing of value to me. With the new tooltips though (thanks bukka and SUNSfan, great addition), it's not just an annoyance anymore and is instead actively a detriment to my viewing experience since anytime I want to interact with the tooltips it causes that info to pop up and create a drop shadow effect on the top ~10-15% of the screen.
If you use uBlock Origin you can add a super simple custom filter to get rid of it. All you have to do is navigate to the extension settings, go to "My Filters," add
>www.twitch.tv##.top-bar.lkvMjl.Layout-sc-nxg1ff-0
and click "Apply changes."
Hope somebody finds this valuable. Enjoy the games!

Any downsides to using uBlock Origin in incognito windows?
I gave it full access again by the way.
Found the ublock origin article to block service workers, and initial signs are there is no browsing impact, I agree 100% with the ublock origin dev that giving web developers control of one's local storage without any kind of control in browser settings is unacceptable, but sadly this seems to be the direction things are going in, where the web developers desires come ahead of the end users.
Before I blocked and unregistered all 709 service workers, I checked the space consumption on my nand storage and it was a whopping 1.4 gigs of data inside the service workers folder.
Also second question, is it possible to block local storage usage on ublock origin as well?
Apparently, Google plans on killing ad-blockers two weeks from now: https://www.neowin.net/news/the-eff-will-fight-google-chrome-manifest-v3-which-kills-extensions-that-reliably-block-ads/
What's the best way to replace it?
Is that Pi-hole, or are there well, perhaps more turnkey, easy to install, easy to administer, better performance solutions out there?
I'm okay with either
But what I am looking for is ease of installation and administration as well as performance so as not to slow my surfing down
What's out there I should look at?
There is a thread talking about the "Actually Legitimate" blocklist for uBlock Origin, and in it someone mentioned that it is also possible to add the blocklist that ClearURLs uses into uBlock Origin. There was some discussion about whether or not both should be used, but no one came to a definitive answer. Does anyone know if both should be used or not? I am also using the Adguard URL Tracking Protection.
Ublock origin in firefox blocks content on Instagram.

it started yesterday, I think. youtube somehow figured out how to bypass ublock and showing the ads now. it's so very annoying. or could my install have gone bad? advise please
until a couple days ago I've been seeing no ads whatsoever, however, now sometimes I'll see an add on youtube or a site will open a new card
anyone with the same issues?
Steps to reproduce the issue:
- launch Mozilla Firefox with uBO enabled.
- make sure "_1st-party scripts_" and `localhost` are allowed as a site rule.
- issue: `jupyter notebook <name of notebook>` in terminal.
- blank unresponsive page is displayed at any `localhost:8888/notebooks/...` address.
Note that:
- As soon as uBO is fully disabled and the page reloaded, the notebook's content is displayed normally, i.e. as it used to **_BEFORE_** uBO 1.40.0.
- "_cosmetic filtering_" has no bearing on the behavior.
Has anybody experienced the same ? Is there any workaround available ?
Olen kasutanud uBlock Originit juba pikemat aega ning kogu aeg on ilusasti reklaamivabalt tรถรถtanud ka TV3Play veebileht. Paraku viimased paar pรคeva on tulnud nende lehel teade, et tuvastatud on reklaamiblokeerija ja ei lase sisu vaadata. Olen aktiveerinud Eesti saitidele kohandatud filtri. Kuidas oleks vรตimalik ka edaspidi vaadata TV3Play sisu ilma reklaamideta? Tรคnan.
EDIT: It has nothing to do with uBlock. WTF does this error mean?

Never had this issue before. Been using FF and uBlock Origin for years.
The ONLY extension I have is uBlock Origin, but disabling it still doesn't allow the YT video to display. Opening a private tab (no extensions) works fine, but I've never needed to do that before.
Anyone else having this issue today?

Please Explain to me Like I am 5? Any Ublock Devs response or any one who is technical enough to enlighten me, Please do.
