I'm reading about 2PL, deadlocks and distributed systems and there's something I don't get.
In a centralized system, 2PL (or even Strict 2PL) ensures serializability but doesn't avoid by itself deadlocks, so we have to use deadlock prevention (timestamps) or detection techniques.
Does anything change in a distributed system? I don't think so: using the distributed variants of 2PL (Centralized 2PL, primary copy,...), we still have deadlocks but they can still be solved by using timestamps and whatnot. But I'm not sure about this.
Am I missing something?
Like maybe hostile fleets can't bombard or land armies while it's in the shrouded half of it's cycle?

Post E3 Edit: It's a good year to be a Metroid fan.
When I google PPL's I get a lot of diagrams of the control system for a PLL, but I can't find much information about how to actually build one. If you have a source signal in one building, and you run that signal to another building through some length of wire, how do you lock the phases of the the signals together? I could do a calculation to find what the delay introduced by the cable is, then use that information to add a static delay that would make the phases equal, but is there more that you can do? What would this look like in actuality?

He is sick and tired of enemies teleporting away when they're losing a fight, or running off to some macguffin to complete their plot regardless of the battle outcome, because they're cowards! I've always wanted to make a Sharding weapon, and it would definitely work with Phase Locking, but I am uncertain how Sharding would interact with Anchoring as the conjured weapon disappears after contact.
By RAW, does the weapon need to continue to be present throughout the whole turn, or does the momentary presence act as enough of an impedance on its own for just that turn, given that turns happen roughly at the same time? Not trying to make it persist indefinitely, just one turn at a time.
By RAI should it work at all? Should it not?
It also doesn't even matter that much as I could also just go with Returning as it would be an offhand weapon anyways (Ali has 4 arms, because of reasons), which definitely works. What do you guys think?

I've opened a support ticket, but I'm curious if others are having similar issues. Perhaps a problem with Bitwig's login service?
(I've been running Bitwig 3.3.6 on Ubuntu 18.04. Updating to 3.3.10 didn't resolve any of the issues below.)
I purchased Bitwig Studio on June 6. I was able to activate the software and have been happily working with it for a couple of days. Just now, I got a pop-up from the app saying that my license was no longer valid. (Don't have the exact text, since I thought maybe I just needed log in again and clicked through.)
When logging in through the app, Bitwig says my credentials are invalid. When logging in through the website, I have no problem.
I tried offline activation instead, but I just got a popup that read "We've updated the format of the Bitwig Studio Activation file. Please log in again to update your Activation file."
(While it's quite frustrating to be locked out two days after purchase, I have to say that Bitwig itself has been amazing so far!)
If anyone hasn't noticed, when you two hand a gun your off hand will now stay locked to it, regardless of where your hand is in real life. No more losing grip, especially on guns like M60!
Then, they removed the little black lense in the scope on the awps, so you can see through it now. This makes aiming it down much, much faster, as you can pre-aim with the sight before gripping for the full sight. Most of the time if I center the target in the see through scope, I will already be centered on the target when aiming down. It's great!

Today CTXR announced that it has completed patient enrollment in its Pivotal Phase 3 trial of I/ONTAK. A total of 70 patients were enrolled in the main part of the I/ONTAK Phase 3 study, a multicenter, open-label, single-arm Pivotal study of I/ONTAK in participants with recurrent or persistent CTCL.
Positive efficacy data from an initial 21-subject lead-in study supported proceeding with the main study with an optimal dose level of 9 micrograms per kilogram (mcg/kg) of I/ONTAK. Subjects were administered I/ONTAK by intravenous infusion over 60 minutes (+/-10 minutes) on 5 consecutive days per cycle every 21 days.
I/ONTAK, is a purified version of denileukin diftitox, and a reformulation of previously FDA-approved oncology treatment ONTAK®. ONTAK® was marketed in the U.S. from 2008 to 2014, when it was voluntarily withdrawn from the market to enable manufacturing improvements. These improvements resulted in a new formulation, which maintains the same amino acid sequence but features improved purity and bioactivity.
I want to mention a couple things about CTXR that I like:
As of June 30th, the company had $115M in cash which I find extraordinary for a company with a $220M market cap. That level of cash could be sufficient to bring both Mino-Lok® and I/ONTAK to commercialization without further dilution.
Secondly, Leonard Mazur, Executive Chairman, Director, and Myron Holubiak, President and CEO, have invested $26.5M of their own money into CTXR shares. I think that goes beyond “skin in the game” and indicates a high level of confidence from these two biopharma industry veterans.

Okay this happened a while back (around a year ago) and has recently been brought up in a conversation with my friend, him insisting I was an ass hole for it.
Background: my friend (m 20) asked me (f 20) if he could throw a party with his friends at our house. We decided at that time to live together since it was easier for us both financially and we worked in the same place and occasionally had shifts together so we'd drive to work together.
He mentioned that friends of his friends would also be coming, I was very reluctant at first since A) I wasn't a big party person, which I later decided I'd spend the day at a friend's and come back later, then B) that someone would go into my room.
I had a lot of valuables in my room, including very valuable paintings I made. (I make and sell paintings for some side cash) so obviously didn't want anyone there, but even besides the paintings I just simply don't like people in my room, a private space, when I'm not there.
So he suggested I lock my room, which I did do (I had an old fashioned door with a keyhole in it) and he promised nobody would go in there and he'd keep an eye. Well later that day, or the next day, at 2am I came back home. I didn't stay the night at my friends since the next day her and her family were leaving to go to another city I think.
So I come back, there's a lot of people drinking and having fun, music playing, a bit of rubbish scattered around. I find my friend and greet him and say hi to a few people along the way then I go to my room. I had the key on me and took it with me to my friends house.
Before unlocking it I decided to see if it was still locked, fully expecting it to be. Instead what happened was my door opened. My bedside lamp was on illuminating my room and what I saw was two people I didn't know, going at it in my bed. My god damn bed.
I was very furious in the moment and I said something along the lines of "this room was locked for a fucking reason, get out" which startled them, and they quickly started picking their clothes up and I again yelled "get the fuck out of my room" in a very harsh tone and they scurried out, half naked. One of them left a piece of clothing and I took that and threw it down the stairs at them. They left the house and presumably went home.
I assumed one of them had picked my lock, which was ridiculously extra and infuriated me even more. There were 2 other rooms, my friends and a spare but I suppose they were both "taken"?

I've seen websites online which claim to offer music that can induce neural phase-locking which apparently helps with concentration?
Today only 21 players in my guild got to have any part in the ships territory before it was locked at 3 stars. That's 29 players that can't play some of the only actual ship content in the game for no particular reason.
Personally, I'm in a different timezone to the rest of my guild so I wake up 6-7 hours after TB has started and there's almost always at least one territory already 3 starred. Previously, that wasn't an issue and I'd still get to play it, but since the patch I do not and I find that disappointing and somewhat frustrating.
I absolutely support giving officers the ability to lock zones at certain star levels, since that has strategic benefit for many phases.
I do not support auto-locking all territories once 3 stars are reached, without the ability for officers to override it. Let me play the game.

Should've been up at 1PM PST, anyone know what's going on?
So I've been using this custom PC for almost two years now. It locks up and throws up seemingly random Blue Screens. I've replaced the Graphics Card and the PSU. Replacing the PSU has made it better. I keep seeing "ntoskrnl.exe+3f5c20" in all of the BSOD messages. I wonder if Ntoskrnl.exe is corrupt. I disabled Fast Startup last night and it worked without a crash until after an update today. Now it's crashing roughly every hour. Would appreciate help because I'm about done with this thing and the computer repair in my town have only taken my money and never helped in the long run.
