A list of puns related to "Tube Tales"
We've lived in this house for four summers now. Four expensive summers. They have been expensive because of a four letter word: pool. The reasons to buy the house far outweighed the downside of the fact it had an inground pool, and to be honest the pool subtracted from what I was willing to pay to get the place. But get it we did.
I wanted to fill the pool with dirt and have a fancy garden, but that didn't fly with the grandkids and thus not with the grandmother. So money has been flowing into the pool as if it were water ever since.
But that's not what this post is about. It is about something I learned because of the presence of the pool and the untold hours I've spent trying to keep it swimmable.
When we got this pool, it came with a pole, a brush to brush the sides and bottom (didn't know that was needed until I had to learn how to take care of a pool) and a net to get leaves and stuff out of the pool. The pole has a pair of holes near the end that a couple of spring-loaded nubs on the brush and net fit into to hold the brush/net in place. What seemed dumb was the second pair of holes about 5 inches (about 13 cm) back from the first pair. The reason it seemed dumb was that none of the nets or brushes I saw in town had nubs that far back. It seemed strange they would go to the effort to add those extra, unnecessary holes.
There was a second possibly older pole that had a bent section that I didn't use because the bend made it inconvenient to use. This summer I decided to straighten the bend. Being a hollow aluminum tube, and who knows how old, it didn't bend. It broke in two.
On the positive side, it is a lot lighter than the other tube, so I attached the brush and started using it. And that is when I discovered why the extra two holes on the other pole made sense.
When you push a hollow pole into the pool, it fills with water. When you lift that hollow pole out of the water the water tries to run out. With a brush or net apparatus blocking the end of the pole, the water has a hard time getting out.
UNLESS you drill a couple of 'unnecessary' holes about 5 inches back from the first pair of holes, right where the end of the brush/net ends inside the pole. With these holes in place, water rushes out of the pole fairly quickly. Without them, my 'lighter' short pole is actually heavier and if I tip the pole backwards the water rushes out of a small hole in the end of the plastic handle that covers the end of the metal pole. I found that part out no

I get it, K&T is not great to have in a house, I do plan to get someone to handle removing it at some point but it's OK for now as long as I don't mess with it.
Anyhow, I brought an electrician over to chat about a few things I wanted done. The majority of the work is installing some ceiling fans on the second floor, repairing/adding a few outlets, fixing a bathroom heater, small projects. The other major ones involve repairing my service drop (part of the exterior wiring is uncovered) which would involve completely redoing the electrical box. I also want him to remove any cloth wiring in the basement that's easy to get to.
The electrician was friendly, he's well reviewed, and I trust him for the most part. His quote seems reasonable ($6500) and he didn't seem too concerned about removing/messing with the cloth wiring in the basement or installing ceiling fans in rooms where the junction box K&T wires likely run to.
Today I had another guy come out just to get a comparison quote, this time from a large company that runs TV ads in the area. They're known to be more expensive but very reliable. A courteous and professional electrician greets me and I start talking about the various projects I'm looking to do. I first show him the junction box in the basement since that's important to point out.
He starts to make a big deal about it, and yes, I know it's a problem and needs addressing, but I start to get a hard sell about how they'll need to come do an inspection and then write up an estimate to remove all the old wiring before they'll even touch my electrical. Likely $10k-$18k to get it remediated properly. I just want a ceiling fan installed!
I respect what he was telling me, but I also know a person spotting an opportunity when I see it. He tells me that I could have an electrician repair outlets, install ceiling fans, fix a bathroom heater, etc but it's all work that would need to be redone once I get the K&T ripped out, essentially throwing money away. And it's likely ceiling fans wouldn't be good to install in a room with K&T wiring as it lacks a ground wire. And if I someone touches the K&T and then I try to sell the house, inspectors will flag that work and I'll have to pay for it all then.
I agree somewhat and I am aw

There's a scene in the third episode of Handmaid's Tale involving a rather tense dinner between June/Offred/OfJoseph and Commander Lawrence where the latter is trying to pump the former for Intel on some persons of interest. Chopin's Nocturne Op. 9, No. 2 is playing in the background. That makes Joseph Lawrence the second fascist character I can think of, after Ivan "The Arsonist" Schmitz, to have this particular Chopin piece as a leitmotif.
Also, I kinda want Bradley Whitford to play The Arsonist in Abi's videos. I don't think he can do a British accent, tho. Still, he would be terrifying.
I came home for lunch, and the roof was dry, so decided I would move dishy from the yard to its permanent home. Initially I wasnβt going to route the cable into the house yet even though I have a 3/4 smurf from my attic to my low voltage panel. Iβll just keep it running through the vent for the hot water heater into the garage. I can reach over the edge of the peak pretty easily so drill a hole and run the cable into the attic. I even brought a tube of sealant to close it up.
Everything is going fine until I get into the attic. The first thing I see is my what looks like mold all over in between a couple of my trusses. Well shit. Iβll finish this and maybe look at it, I have more things to do today. I start to slide the cable down the smurf tube. I had tested it on another piece in the comfort of the garage and while it was tight, it slid right through. I just canβt push it though. Oh well Iβll grab some tape and tape the end to the old cat5 cable and use it as a pull string. Go back down and get the tape, look at the mold again, crawl over roof trusses and tape it on. I canβt get it to go, so call my mother in law whoβs living with us to see if she can pull the Cat5. No answer. Call again. No answer. Crawl back down and decide to tape a real pull string on to the Cat5 while Iβm there. I let MIL know I might need a hand and show her where the string is. Go back up, admire the mold, and pull the cat5 up to get the string. Tape it on and let her know to pull, itβs going a little better but still wonβt go. Iβm trying to loosen it by pulling it back a little, I pull pretty hard and break the smurf tube down where it comes into the attic, and grandma canβt see the tube anymore in the low voltage box. Decide Iβll just drill another hole big enough for dishy cable and put a fish stick down to the panel. Go back down, wonder if I should grab a mask while looking at the mold, grab my drill and go back up. Go back down and grab fish stick. Forget the mask.
As I start drilling I realize the battery isnβt all the way dead, but has enough life to tease me into thinking I can get through the top plate. 5 minutes of 5 second bursts later I go back down and grab a full battery. Remember the mask as Iβm crawling by the mold.
Finish the new hole and send a fish pole down. It hits a horizontal brace about 3 feet above the low voltage panel. Debate if I should pull the cable back out and live with the shame of having it hanging across the roof and through the vent, I r

I had a rather large patient for starters - think my 600Lb life, we are living this show in our unit right now and it's exhausting.. Today's patient had a rectal tube and unfortunately the rectal tube managed to become dislodged *sigh*
As I went to re-insert the rectal tube I had some trouble finding the opening, so I spread the cheeks (not easy), I glimpsed some haemorrhoids (surprise, surprise) and went looking for the hole there. I think it went in. it was hard to say, so I tried to push the tube up further (so it wouldn't come out on my shift again) and somehow ended up fisting my Patient's asshole.

I've always wished that Kratos was more open about his life back in Greece, or at least explained the good side to his old life, and I really hope that Atreus will continue to pester about Kratos old life and ask Kratos to tell some old story's of legends or something, like Mimir.
Greek legend is such a thrilling tale to go through and with Kratos life, and all of his accomplishments, he certainly has some riveting legends to tell.
I've always loved the story telling aspect of the GoW series and there were so many well done animated cut-scenes that helped imagine the world's lore so I really think that while the RPG fighting element is really fun, and is always needed and improved upon, I think there always has to be that story driven element and aspect guiding us along the story and keeping us glued to this games universe.
Also I'm pretty sure Kratos is actually an extremely intelligent demi-god, who not only solved some of the hardest riddles and puzzles ever created but also outwit and conned, by killing I guess, many others who were supposed "Unlimited" and unmatched in wit and thought, so he would be able to tell some really good story's. Plus hes been a decent narrator before.
