A list of puns related to "Touhou Luna Nights"
Maaan is this game good. Made by the same folks that did Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth. Super metroidvania with great mech and world design. Check it out.
Curious what people who have played both would say - whether they're fairly similar in terms of quality or if you have a clear favorite?
Just wondering if it was announced and Iβve missed it or is it still in the works. Thanks!

Hi, I want to make a game like Touhou Luna Nights to practice programming, but I don't know what language to do it in. What is the programming language of Touhou Luna Nights? Thank you.
This game was on my wishlist for years... not sure why I never picked it up though. Anyway, I got myself a gamepass and noticed it was there so jumped right to it.
The game feels really good, the combat is very unique and it takes a bit of time to get used to but it is very very good when you're "in the groove" and played a couple hours.
The exploration is not a big thing in this game, there are hidden rooms here and there and not so much back-tracking, usually you find keys to open locked doors and maybe back-track after getting the double jump, but it's very minimalistic in that area, not that I cared.
The big thing about this game is the bosses and special abilities, some of the bosses felt so good, their different attacks were very challenging and the end bosses were very hard to beat, took me a lot of time until I figured each one. Whice was great.
There are a few things I didn't like, for example I used to fall off cliffs even though I felt like I pressed the jump key in time, whice was annoying since game like this should give you a few extra pixles to jump off the edge, but oh well.
Second thing is knock-back from enemies, it's very frustrating and you can just fall whole levels because of a BS knockback.
I actually felt done with the game after the last boss (and part of the extra-level at the end) and didn't bother finding all collectibles, it took me 8 hours to beat at about 90% progress.
This game is very, very solid, and I'm picky with my metroidvanias, so that means a lot from me.
8/10 from me.
P.s - there are a lot of unique mosters in this game, different creatures all the time. Also, some nice platforming sections as well, whice was good and challenging.
It's on sale, and it looks interesting, but I want to know how much I need to know about Touhou.
Music has been pretty good so far, love the combat and the first bossfight was very fun, hope it stays that good! Havenβt played any Touhou games except for an unofficial mobile version so far, hope I can play the mainline games soon
i've been grinding to get more max knifes in time stop and now its out of stock, is the permanent or what? im level 21
Have been deep diving into the genre and finding amazing sleeper hits like the 2 game I mentioned in the title, where do I go from here?
I've played Hollow Knight, all the 2D Metroids, Castlevanis, Momodori, Ori, Control, Jedi: Fallen Order, The Messengar, Minoria, Blasphemous, Gato Robato, Axiom Verge, and probably a handful of others that I failed to mention.
Suggestions? I REALLY love the Touhou/Record and Momodori/Minoria aesthetic and mechanics of Metroidvanias.
Hey everyone,
So as soon as I got the Time Stop power in Touhou Luna Nights, I knew I needed a Za Warudo sound effect mod. Unfortunately, there isn't one but installing one is super easy if you haven't already.
That's it.
I don't know if it was worth creating a whole thread for this but I wanted the mod and I couldn't find it so I hope this helps someone else that plays this game.
I have seen both of these games recommended on this sub. Both games are on sale on Steam, and if I had to pick one, which do you guys think is better?
SPOILERS THE RESIDENT COMBAT MEATHEAD OF THIS SUB LIKES IT
#The Good
-Buttery smooth controls for all the abilities.Β Β It feels good making a pincushion out of enemies, or freezing your knives midair for footstool jumps.
-Boss battles have impeccable psychology, given all the avenues for using your stop and pause abilities for offense or defense.Β Β Do you burn all the pause meter for a bigger punish combo, or do you leave some in the tank for an emergency dodge?
-Instead of farming health drops or chugging potions, the main form of healing in this game comes from grazing enemies, or dodging their attacks by a margin of a few pixels.Β With this mechanic, there's always room for a skill-based comeback against mobs or bosses.Β Β It's pretty empowering finding enemies or attacks you can heal off of. It adds a buffer against the enemies you struggle with.
-Excellent ability balance.Β You can pull off some fancy combos or dodges with the time manipulations.Β But there is no silver bullet for bosses, and some enemies have gimmicks to stop you from mindlessly freezing everything.Β It's a system where the player and enemy are both capable of cheapness, and it's up to the player to be cheap in clever ways.
#The Bad
-Bosses have extremely rigid attack patterns, to the point where you can ignore telegraphs and go purely on script memory. The bosses are by no means pushovers, and knowing which attack comes next might not help you dodge it. But I would have preferred the bosses inject some sort of mixups to keep me on my toes. Even when bosses do their rage nukes, they cycle through their moveset in fixed patterns.
-Player power progression feels a bit limited, since most of the best combat abilities are unlocked in the first 15 minutes and the rest are glorified keys.Β Lots of the subweapons are inefficient compared to your normal jab string, barring a secret item found near the end.
#The Ugly
-No way to set map markers, and unclaimed upgrades or locked doors are not indicated on the map.Β This combined with sime awkward warp placementΒ makes backtracking more trouble than it needs to be.
-Heal points and save points are often placed separately, even though dying respawns you at a save point with full health.Β This has the awkward effect of encouraging your character to suicide if she messes up close to a save point.Β She won't heal off the save point but she will respawn at 100%.
I'm not into the top down shooter style of Touhou so I can't really play these games. But I enjoyed Luna Nights.
Are there similar games?
Thanks in advance
Its on sale at the Nintendo eshop at the moment, so pondering picking it up. It seems to have some cool mechanics, but personally I'm not a big fan of the JRPG-like graphics in games. Anyways - what other games does it compare to gameplay-wise? I know it's a metroidvania obviously, but there are quite big differences even within the genre. Any takers? π
How to stop time in Touhou luna nights?
