Mid-thirties acne-prone (lone occasional but persistant enough to be annoying pimples) combo skin.
Full disclosure I work for a beauty retailer so I get some of these things for free (such as the SK-II), therefore, sometimes my review does not the best indicator of whether something is "good for the price" or not. I try my best to be inpartial and I do often have drugstore things I purchase with my own money that I like better than the expensive things I get for free. Hopefully this is helpful!
From Top:
Scinic Enjoy Super Mild Sun Essence EX: This came recommended from r/AsianBeauty as one of the beauty formulas that have their SPF certified after the great kbeauty sunscreen scandal of 2020. New filters and a very smooth formula. I purchased it to replace the hole keep cool bamboo sun essence left in my heart as a light chemical sunscreen that doesn't feel like anything on my face and leaves no texture plus not sting my eyes. However... I have to say the texture is thicker than the keep cool one and also it sometimes does not play well with makeup. I suppose this is the price you pay for SPF 50 that's actually SPF 50... the search continues, therefore I have not repurchased. This is tocopherol free and alcohol free, did not break me out. I purchased this with my own money.
SK-II facial treatment essence: This has been a staple in my routine, I have reviews of it in the past posts, but I think I'm discontiuing the use of it for a bit because I may be overexfoliating. This is tocopherol free and alcohol free, my main reason for using it and keeping it as a staple in my routine for almost 5 years was that it seems to help with acne. I often get this for free or at my employee discount.
Rovectin clean lotus water cream: Just a no fuss, basic ingredients moisturizer that I use when I'm using actives for my serums and toner. This is tocopherol free and alcohol free, but I can't say for certain whether it gives me texture (little bumps) issues. Can't seem to pinpoint it. I purchased this with my own money and have gotten one backup tube, however I might not repurchase as there are more things I wish to try.
Paula's Choice 2.5 benzoyl peroxide: This has been a staple in my routine for as long

Are mixed tocopherols safe for someone with Leaky Gut Syndrome? Should this be safe?

I have a genetic mutation which means that tocopherol vitamin E causes inflammation. I do not have this issue with tocotrienol forms however.
Yet, all OMEGA3 supplements I've come across include tocopherol. I can't find a single source which doesn't include some kind of tocopherol as the main antioxidant mechanism.
Does anyone know of a brand I can use (UK) or any other advise? Thanks!
As requested:
I have the genetic markers of AA for rs1695 (gene GSTP1)
"Persons having the alleles AA or AG had an increase in inflammatory interleukin-6 (IL-6) upon supplementing alpha-tocopherol (the most common form of Vitamin E in a North American diet) while those with GG saw a decrease."
Update: found some
On the sds it says to refrigerate at -20C, what if I donβt?
I often read in ingredients list that there is alpha tocopherol as antioxidant - Is that amount sufficient to prevent the oxidation of omega 3 and body's vitamin e depletion?
I took a 23andme test that showed I donβt tolerate the vitamin e (tocopherols) in supplements very well.
Looking at every fish oil supplement I can find, including reputable brands like Carlson, they all add βmixed tocopherolsβ to the oil for freshness.
Do you know of any good fish oil brands that donβt add vitamin e to their oil?
Hello! :)
I am on the lookout for an oil cleanser without tocopherol or itβs derivates like tocopheryl acetate. Turns out Iβ very sensitive to it, to the point it gives me rashes and an immediate allergic reaction if itβs high up on the inci list. Only problem is that somehow EVERY oil/balm cleanser contains Vitamin E and I am somehow lost as oil cleansers are the only cleansers my skin tolerates :( Iβm also sensitive to glycols like butylene or pentylene glycol and it would be awesome if the cleanser is fragrance free ( I have VERY sensitive skin). I will literally send you flowers if you have a suggestion haha, iβm very lost (Iβm too afraid of messing things up in regards to making my own oil cleanserβ¦)
Hey there!
Products with tocopherols block my pores and give me insane rash-like acne like no other, and I have a very limited routine because of it. For this my skin is dryyyy.
Just bought some grapeseed oil to add to my routine as it's non-comedogenic. So excite! Realize now that it's so well loved because it's high in vitamin E...
Would the amount/type of vitamin E present in a natural oil have the same effect on tocopherol-sensitive people as say a lotion with it would? Do tocopherophobes just sit facial oils out? Has anyone had a good/bad experience you'd be willing to share?
Also always love to hear about other E-free products you're loving right now!
Thanks!
I've been seeing encouraging things about vitamin E, but specifically about tocotrienols.
I don't want any tocopherols, which far as I can see do not have the same effect and could possibly even be detrimental for me.
So is there a product that contains tocotrienols but does not also include tocopherols?
I was looking to incorporate a vitamin C serum into my routine. Personally, I prefer l-ascorbic acid rather than derivatives. I've used the By Wishtrend Pure Vitamin C 21.5 Advanced Serum before but it wasn't something I could use daily as the concentration was too strong for me. I've also used the Drunk Elephant C-Firma Vitamin C Day Serum (gift from my sister) but I wanted a less expensive alternative.
I found out about Geek & Gorgeous from the SCA sub. They're based in Hungary.

By the way, I know the shipping is expensive but the overall cost ($43.94 CAD) isn't too far off or better than similar products (specifically water-based L-AA):
Hi! Does anyone have experience adding mixed tocopherol as a preservative? I want to bake treats for my pets and Iβve read that mixed tocopherol is about the same amount as when youβre baking regular human cookies. Since, Iβm not sure how much I should put. Iβm hoping someone here does.

Hi, I love baths but I couldn't find a hydrating treatment that made sense. I also have a huge scar on my back that I mostly forget to take care of, so I wanted to do double duty here. When I put pure coconut oil in the tub it created a hazard. When I looked at bath oil online it seemed like I was paying $35 for 95% baby oil.
So I made this using coconut oil I had on hand + a lotioncrafter order.
4oz Marula Oil
4oz Rose Hip Seed oil
10oz Coconut oil (slightly heated to melt it in)
6oz Olive oil
1 tablespoon 95% tocopherol from lotioncrafter
2oz "cromollient" from Lotioncrafter
Mixed it all together.
Result : 7/10
Pros: the cromollient really worked and the bath is not very slippery after, no more need to clean for 10 minutes post-bath. It's moisturizing for sure. Did not irritate my skin.
Cons: expensive- I spent about $75 making it, so it better last me a while. Color is bad. No real scent. Not "fun" to use like bath bombs or scented salts.
Overall I thought it was easy to make and nice on my skin, and I think adding a scent will take it to the next level.
Thoughts? Anything I should add?
Does anyone have any recommendations for an SPF that doesn't contain any tocopherol (including tocopherol acetate/glucoside/etc.)? I recently found out that I'm allergic and I've been having a really hard time trying to find sunscreen that doesn't contain any tocopherol but is still suitable for dry skin. Thanks!!
Iβve been using cerave cream religiously for years, day and night. I have many allergies including tocopherol and stearic acid making it difficult to find creams and shampoos.
Got a fresh tub a few weeks ago and noticed my neck starting to react for the first time in years. Checked the ingredients and... boom! Tocopherol?! Iβm so upset because Iβve relied on this brand for years and they went ahead and changed it with no warning on the label!!
Since then Iβve tried vanicream and got a horrible reaction on my face. Coconut oil doesnβt help.
Any other suggestions? Itβs winter and Iβm very dry using nothing :(
Iβve learnt that palm oil is bad for the environment, but nutrition wise, is a little bit of it in your food detrimental to your overall health? And tocopherols as well?
Whatβs the case to stay away from them?
The ingredient im thinking of reads: βPalm oil (contains mixed tocopherols(antioxidant))β
Thanks
I love you.
