A list of puns related to "Thenar eminence"
Hello Redditors among the Handwriting Community,
Over the last few years, I have developed some pain while handwriting or taking notes and it is exclusively in the region underneath the thumb (palmar region). I have researched that this area is known as the thenar eminence when inflamed (or in pain). Any suggestions on how to relieve this hand pain will be greatly appreciated. I know that there are 'hand rollers' (palm massagers, etc.) and things of that nature on Amazon that I could buy.
I will attach some pictures here of how I hold the grip with my thumb and index finger. Lately, I have also tried to switch up my grip a little bit by resting the writing instrument more on my middle finger top portion.
My hand pain is specifically under the thumb area (radiates down the thenar eminence).
Any suggestions for relief of hand pain are welcomed.
Thank you.

Trying to have the pencil (or pen) resting more on my middle finger to alleviate pain
As the title says, my thenar eminence gets tired really quickly which means I can't do songs above 1:30 minutes. Anything longer and my aim becomes shaky. An example of what I feel during overuse of it is like writing a long essay for a long period of time with a pen or pencil. Basically I get the same feeling as using a pencil for a long time but it's much quicker. It sucks because I get discouraged really quickly. I just switched to tablet around a couple weeks ago if that helps.
So...it started...another place that didn't twitched before now started...my thenar eminence. Someone else got twitches there?? Really scared rn
Does anyone with BFS get twitches in thenar muscles just below thumbs? I also have some pain there getting worried.
So my right hands thenar eminence the part below the thumb where you press to measure how well cooked your steak is. It feels swollen and numb to the touch on the side. It doesnt hurt or anything. Idk what this is and should I be worried?
Lately I've had a couple clients with this same anatomy-bit I don't recognize. It feels like connective tissue, slippery and hard, running from their thumb to the lateral edge of the first knuckle. You know, the very edge of the thumb web. I've been looking at anatomy charts but all I see are muscles that run parallel with the phalanges, and this thing is perpendicular. The transverse adductor pollicis is a close match, but it really doesn't feel like muscle, it feels like scar tissue... All the hand ligaments should be too close to the bone to be felt on the outer web like this, but maybe there's a ligament I don't know about that's in like 6% of the population?
No history of hand injuries in these clients but I'm wondering if repetitive stress could cause scar tissue build up in that area or something. Everyone's thumbing on their phones nowadays...
Thanks for engaging my curiosity y'all
When Iβm performing a pressing movement like chess press or shoulder press, my thenar eminence, the space between my thumb and index finger, hurts. It only hurts on my left hand, my right hand is completely fine. When I mess with my grip a little bit that can help, but itβs almost impossible for me to do those movements without the dumbbell resting on that part of my hand. Has anyone else had these problems? Would something like straps help? Itβs keeping me from making progress, and I really appreciate any help you can give me.
FINAL EDIT: 6 days later, Iβm honestly so burnt out about this situation. To make a long story short, after seeing three people absolutely nobody knows what happened to me. My βcaseβ is officially undiagnosed. Despite all the confusion, I know my body best of all and am certain it had something to do with my nerves or at least SOMETHING coming from the inside of my hand. I felt it and I saw it clear as day, unmistakable. All medical professional told me as long as it isnβt hurting anymore they canβt do anything for me. (Was never offered/recommended at CAT or MRI scan once, said it was βunnecessaryβ after asking.) I guess I completely understand, as I have no idea eitherβ itβs just scary for something that traumatic to happen to me and not knowing what it is or whether or not it may return. My pain will not go invalidated to me personally (or my mother, who is incredibly distraught about this all and was there when it happened). I think I was just born with things not βwiredβ correctly in my hands/arms and I will just have to learn to live with it. Thatβs all I can say; Iβm just as lost and the next guy. Story of my life!

Hello all. I apologize for the grammatical errors, as I am typing this through one hand and cannot use my left.
Yesterday evening around 2:30, I was minding my own business walking to an area of my kitchen. I suddenly feel an strong stinging pain like Iβve never felt before. I instantly look down at my hands and notice absolutely 0 bite marks or signs of any insect. The pain was so intense I proceeded to drop to the floor not knowing what was happening while screaming bloody murder. My mom asked no questions and instantly took me to the emergency room. On the way there, I could even speak nor move, only scream like a knife was being shoved and twisted through my veinsβ this remains the worst pain Iβve ever felt in my entire life, even worse than when I rolled my ankle and spun my foot 360 degrees. A true and unmistakable 10/10.
It was turning red in the thenar eminence portion of my hand and started to swell. The pain started and was consistent from there. I for sure believed that something must have snapped or
... keep reading on reddit β‘Hello, I've recently found bare knuckle boxing more interesting than gloved boxing and MMA and after seeing few fights on YouTube, I've noticed that bare knuckle fighters were basically using full power with each blow on the fist and aiming mostly at the head.
After reading about old bare knuckle fighting, I learnt that before it wasn't the norm to only aim for the head especially the bony parts with full power directly with the knuckles as it would cause you bone fractures.
So my question is why modern bare knuckle boxers don't use similar fighting techniques as before?
I'm also aware the rules were different with grappling, buttheading etc. I'm just talking about the way the punches are delivered (for example with the meaty part of the palm i,e. thenar eminence)
Question vignette essentially describes carpal tunnel syndrome then asks "sensation to touch will be decreased or abnormal in which of the following?"
Answer is: "palmar surface of the lateral hand" which I got to via process of elim. since other answers were way off but still, isnt the palmar surface supposed to be spared in carpal tunnel syndrome since the palmar cutaneous branch comes off proximal to the carpal tunnel?
Would love some clarification if someone has any idea
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
Do your worst!

I'm surprised it hasn't decade.
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.

No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies π
It really does, I swear!

Heard they've been doing some shady business.
but then I remembered it was ground this morning.
Edit: Thank you guys for the awards, they're much nicer than the cardboard sleeve I've been using and reassures me that my jokes aren't stale
Edit 2: I have already been made aware that Men In Black 3 has told a version of this joke before. If the joke is not new to you, please enjoy any of the single origin puns in the comments
BamBOO!

A play on words.
Last year I had a traumatic nerve injury. I cut my median nerve at wrist level. I'm a guitarist and a righty. This happened to my right hand (not the one that frets "fortunately"). I've been working on the rehab since then.
I went through a bunch of surgeries. To my appealing, I had the best traumatologists/neurosurgeons related to the topic (brachial plexus injuries). They did a great work, but nonetheless this hand is not the same and it never will be. And even though I know injuries like this take like two years to recover from, I already know that I'm almost at a no-return point to was it was normal to me.Now I have to deal with what is called neuropathic pain: a disgusting sensation when something touches my wrist. My fingers are still numb, slowly getting better. A muscle from my thenar eminence almost completely faded away (I believe some part of the opponens pollicis brevis) which prevents me from playing my instrument (fine motor skills).
Anyone else would say I overexaggerating but that is all life is to me. And whenever something touches my wrist or I find myself struggling to do fine movements, an obsessive cascade of thoughts hits me and I just can't manage it.
I am currently under a psychologist and psychiatrist treatment as I commited a suicide attempt a few months ago. I believe none of this is helping me, I just need to get my life back but it seems impossible. I just don't know what to do anymore.
My daughter, Chewbecca, not so much.
Don't you know a good pun is its own reword?

Nothing, he was gladiator.
So there was a question where the guy clearly had carpel tunnel syndrome, and the question asks where touch sensation would be affected for this person.... the answer was the "palmar aspect of the lateral hand"
I'm sorry but I have like 9 anki cards that specifically say that sensation to the thenar eminence (some say "palm of the hand") is spared because of the palmar cutaneous branch exiting the median before it enters the carpel tunnel. I'm pretty pissed about this question. Like are they talking about the little sliver of cutaneous innervation just above the thenar eminence/before the fingers start?? The fuck
Sometimes i feel like NBME questions are just poorly written compared to Uworld which is always 100% accurate and complex.
Edit: I know palmar aspect of the hand includes fingers. But then, the dorsal aspect of the hand (a different answer choice), would also include fingers and in either case the bulk of those fingers receive cutanoues innervation from median..
Or would that be too forward thinking?
Dad jokes are supposed to be jokes you can tell a kid and they will understand it and find it funny.
This sub is mostly just NSFW puns now.
If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.
Edit* I'm not replying any longer and turning off notifications but to all those that say "no one cares", there sure are a lot of you arguing about it. Maybe I'm wrong but you people don't need to be rude about it. If you really don't care, don't comment.
When I got home, they were still there.
