A list of puns related to "The Texas Chain Saw Massacre"
Currently in a movies as a narrative class where weβre doing all horror movies and these are the first two weβre watching. We finished up the original and started the remake today. Iβve seen both a long time ago, but I didnβt pay much attention during them so itβs kinda like Iβm watching for the first time again. So far I really like the remake. Their use of the sounds from the original movie (the camera shutters, ect) mixed with the updated scoring throughout the movie add a lot to the viewing experience for me. I do miss the gritty, almost jarring camera motions from the original though. For example, the chicken feather and bone room scene in the original was super uncomfortable to watch because of how quickly the camera pans and switches, I felt like I was really in there trying to take it all in while panicking. I havenβt gotten as much of that in the remake, I feel like it leans more on the gore and intensifying music. All around extremely good so far for the remake though, so I was just wondering if anyone else had any likes or dislikes that stuck out from either movie?
I was reading threads recently where people were suggesting Rob zombie do a remake of TCM, but I personally believe he's the wrong guy for it. The original TCM was great because most of the violence was suggested (and because of that, it's gained a reputation as a "gory" movie). Also, one element I appreciate is the lack of any sexual violence in the film. The Saywers are never interested in harming Sally in a sexual way, even when she says she'll do anything to escape. I think it's a nice touch that makes the Sawyers even more menacing. They're just bat-shit crazy and just love to kill and eat people. They're not interested in sexual desires. They just want to kill and be a family. With all that said, I feel as though Rob Zombie would overlook this. His films are notorious for their sexual violence, and I'd hate to see the Sawyer family molest/rape someone in his version of the movie. Let me know what y'all think.
I don't know if many of you guys know, but tonight at the game awards, or whatever this event is called, they announced a new asymmetrical multiplayer horror game, which is The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (you can watch the reveal trailer here).
My question is: since apparently nothing is set in stone (the Stranger Things chapter being a prime example), with the upcoming release of this newly announced game, do you think there is a chance Bubba could leave Dead by Daylight? I'm just curious, and want to hear your opinion about it.
The official subreddit for the game is r/TXChainSawGame. This subreddit is fine for game news and high scores, but any FAQs, leveling, or perks talk needs to be in that sub. Thank you! -Jake
By far my biggest horror blindspot for years was the original TCM. I went into it with the expectation that it wouldn't live up to its reputation after years of being touted as one of the scariest movies of all-time, that modern horror would have desensitised me too much.
Holy shit was I wrong. Everything about this made me feel repulsed and borderline violated. The ropey, unpolished production made me feel as though I were watching a snuff film, some kind of twisted home video found in the basement of a serial killer. The way the narrative turns on a dime and all the main characters are unceremoniously executed in quick succession has a level of brutal realism that its contemporaries lack.
I couldn't get over just how mean this movie was. It was devoid of hope, just a black pit of despair that I desperately wanted to crawl out of. Marilyn Burns turns in one of the best horror performances PERIOD. Most of the finale is just sustained screaming, yelling and running and my God I felt every bit of it. There were literally tears coming to my eyes, I wanted to cry because of how much torture Sally was going through. I wanted to reach into the screen and pull her out and save her from this nightmare.
Such an arresting cinematic experience that gives you just a glimpse into this family's depraved world. And just as it's over, as the protagonist laughs maniacally and celebrates her escape with Leatherface dancing with his chainsaw, there is an abrupt cut to black as the credits roll and the sound cuts out. What the fuck did I just witness? I have never seen anything like it. I've seen this movie parodied, referenced and paid homage to, but never in my years of watching scary movies have I seen something that straight up took me hostage to this degree.
I will never, EVER forget this movie. Fucking hell. Masterpiece feels like the wrong word...Hellscape? Yeah, hellscape is appropriate. What a goddamn piece of cinema. Jesus Christ.
EDIT: Please stop with the "you must have not seen this movie then" comments. Most of the ones suggested I have seen, I watch A LOT of horror movies, TCM was just a notable blind spot. I've seen Hereditary, Irreversible, A Serbian Film, Hostel, Funny Games and most of the others that keep getting brought up. TCM hit a very specific chord with me that none of those movies has: I felt like I was watching something that was really happening. I wasn't able to tell myself "it's only a movie" because Tobe Hooper's commitment to realism w
... keep reading on reddit β‘Man, I just got done watching this movie and I canβt believe how gruesome and different this was for itβs time. I would never expected to find character depth and amazing shots of the scenery in a movie that was made literally decades ago. Brilliant acting that was so damn practical, donβt even get me started on the ending of this movie truly one of the most powerful and terrifying alluring endings in all of horror movies. If anyone hasnβt seen this movie, I definitely highly recommend it, and hopefully anybody who does watch it will understand why this is one of the greatest and most influential horror movies of all times. How do you guys think of this movie?
I've not actually sat down and watched the original movie in over a decade, so last night I decided to change that. I'm so damn glad I did!
This is an incredible terror film. Tobe Hooper created a descent into hell that keeps gaining momentum and never gives the audience a break until the credits roll. It's horrifying, nerve-wracking, suspenseful, and never stops getting bleaker throughout. Scenes are allowed to really marinate. Hooper moves slowly yet swiftly from beat to beat, allowing the full and true terror of the situation to set in for the characters and audience alike.
The chase scene through the woods goes on for at least triple the amount of time a modern horror would spend on it, yet it never quits being heart-stopping. The room full of feathers and bones reveal goes on for a while but each cut reveals more horrific imagery. Leatherface's intro is so sudden and it's over just as soon as it begins while leaving an eternal impression on the audience.
It's currently free on Tubi in the US. Watch it again. Watch it again at night with the lights off and put your goddamn phone away. Engulf yourself in the terror. This film is a masterpiece, proof positive that Tobe Hooper peaked right at the beginning of his career. It now sits at the top of my list. Best horror movie of all time.
My brother and I watched it tonight and we were amazed at how well it holds up, you can make obvious jokes and kid about how it will get canceled soon or something but i just love when a brutal horror film transcends anything in today's culture I'm not interested in the new movie but I want to hear some thoughts about it. Do you know anything about it or do you have high expectations?
This is a strange question and I am not sure if it is the same in different regions, I am in the UK. Did the word change spelling after the first film released, I doubt anyone actually knows the answer but it would be interesting to know the reason
