A list of puns related to "The Princess Bride (soundtrack)"
Theyβre inconceivable
I first saw The Princess Bride a couple of months ago and am currently rewatching it. The casting is phenomenal, the comedic timing is fantastic and the tone is spot on for this kind of film. I know this movie gets praised a lot on this sub but it absolutely deserves it, even without the rose tinted glasses of nostalgia.
Life is really good. As the title says, my future husband, and mother-, brother-, and sister- in law and I are preparing tomorrow's dessert while sipping rums and watching Princess Bride. The house is bustling and crowded and comfortably full. It has been a long journey here.
I hope you are all having a good night, and wherever you are in your journeys, I hope you're doing well.
Edit: cupcakes are made, preperations are winding down. You have all expressed love, warmth, and good wishes, and given some amazing advice. Thank you all! I got out of the shower and am amazed at the response. I wish I could respond to all of you, but I'm going to try to get some sleep. Have a lovely weekend everyone! I'll update with pictures soon!
Edit 2: We are married! Everything has been absolutely perfect! Platinum, wow! I will go through and try to respond later, you guys are all the absolute best. Thanks to each and every one of you! I'm gonna go have a glass of Champaign!
The movie is great; but the book is amazing. I just had to buy a new copy because Iβve borrowed mine out to so many people that had no idea the movie was based off of a book and it is completely fallen apart. It is a dream of mine that someone will make a television/Netflix series that goes in depth into each character the way that the book does and (π€hopefully) do it well.
I am well aware that the original cast of the movie could never be replicated but if Star Wars can be rebooted why not The Princess Bride?
Described in Cary Elwes' book 'As You Wish', the cast had difficulty finishing the scene without laughing. Andre the Giant exclaimed in his heavy accent, "That was a big one, wasn't it?"
Coworker and I were trying to come up with a good idea about swordsmanship, who might be able to beat Wesley and Inigo if they teamed up and Wesley wasn't partly dead, and how Fezzik was the lynchpin to the whole plot.
One thing came up and it raised an interesting point:
If Vizzini hadn't increased the pace to escape from the Man in Black, they would have been caught even sooner. If the Man in Black hadn't intervined and "abducted" the Prince's betrothed, they would have continued about their pace, since it would be inconceivable for anyone to follow them. They wouldn't have been as rushed to complete their mission. Humperdinck and Rugen were mounted and would have easily caught them, as we see them always a step behind tracking.
The 3 agents of "Guilder" are killed, and the Prince seeks revenge for the death of his wife to be, despite her death being caused by "Friendly" fire.
They were never meant to live after, they were expendable, loose threads to be snipped. Just like any conspiracy, the less who know, the better.
Hello! I really enjoyed reading The Princess Bride and I'm so sad it ended. I'm looking for books similar to it, if there are any. Thank you!
This assumes that all the accents in the movie imitate the voices the Grandfather would be using in the story, hence why Inigio Montoya has such a horrible Spanish accent, the Impressive Clergyman has such an exaggerated speech impediment and Miracle Max uses a Jewish accent. For the character of the Albino he tried to use a raspy, stereotypical villainous henchmen voice but found it too difficult and switched it to the vaguely cockney accent he uses during the rest of the film. The cough that the Albino makes was not in the story, but was a result of the Grandfather's voice hurting. It was interpreted by the boy as being part of the story, which is why we see it on screen.
I just finished William Goldmanβs 25th anniversary edition of The Princess Bride and wow. I loved it (with the exception of the added βButtercupβs Babyβ chapter) and didnβt even realize until after finishing it that he made up so much about the fictitious original text. Truly a book that deserves some unpacking. It was a light-hearted and fun read that I may just have to read again in the near future.
What would you rename The Princess Bride to to convince people to watch it who otherwise wouldn't?
Most people who watched it agree it's a great movie, but the people who don't want to watch it don't because of its title. So if you had the ability to officially rename the movie, what would you call it to make it more appealing?
So there was this guy who was in my friend group in high school, and we were pretty good friends. Some of our mutual friends were (looking back on it lmao I realize this) hinting that he had a thing for me, but I didnβt think it was true and didnβt think about it at all.
Whenever I would ask him to do something, anything at all, LITERALLY ANYTHING, like βoh can you give me a ride to schoolβ or βdo you have the homework answersβ or βwanna hang outβ or anything, he would always say βAs you wish.β
I always thought it was bc he was kind of nerdy and bc he sort of had a formal way of speaking so I never really thought about it.
I remember he told me one of his favorite movies was the princess bride, and I absentmindedly said we should watch it together. We never really did, but when we would hang out with friends, when we were planning on watching a movie, he would always be really adamant on watching the princess bride, and so we did like three or four times.
I never pay attention when I watch movies with other people, and so I ALWAYS either fall asleep or I talk the entire way through so I miss literally everything.
I read the Wikipedia plot to the princess bride today because...... honestly Iβm not sure why I did...... probably wanted to know what happened in that movie bc I never paid attention
And like, am I crazy? The whole princess bride plot revolves around the whole βAs you wishβ thing...... mans was trying to send me so many signals LMAOOO he tried he really tried.
A few years after that, our friends all insisted he was hopelessly in love with me and had been for the past few years and I was like βwhat are you talking about? there are no signs at all.β And when he told me I was extremely confused because to me, it was all out of the blue.
Mans was definitely sending me signs this whole time and I had no clue.
I mean, at least I didnβt miss out on anything because I didnβt like him like that. But now that Iβm thinking about it, Iβm sure Iβve missed other romantic opportunities because I didnβt pay attention or notice what was going on. And now I can think of at least three examples where that might apply...... Thanks, ADHD!
Have you guys missed a romantic opportunity bc you were LITERALLY NOT PAYING ATTENTION TO THE SOCIAL CUES??? Pls drop these stories below so I can feel less sheepish
