Wondering how old my axolotl is
Basically, I got an axolotl from a pet store a few months over a year ago (in typical pet store fashion, they had him in a tank with gravel and I'm willing to bet the water was too warm). The little guy seems to be doing great today, but I've always been wondering how old he is (something I neglected to ask when I first got him).
I am positive that it's a male axolotl, as he laid spermatophores for days after I had a female lotl in his tank for a few hours (I misgendered a female as a male. Whoops). When I last tried measured him a few months ago, I estimated he was around 11 or 12 inches.
I don't have any side pictures that show his body from head to tail, but I have this front view picture
