A list of puns related to "The Great British Bake Off (series 11)"
Not an rte show, but would it be possible to get a link for GBBO? Desperate for the wholesome content
After a great many feathers were ruffled last week with the sad departure of Jurgen we have at long last arrived at the final.
It has been a pretty good year with the main 4 battling it out for those final 3 places but now we probably the strongest final ever.
After this week I'll also be done moderating here. If anyone fancies taking over since the other mods haven't actually done anything substantial for years send me a DM and I'll pick a couple of folks to take over.
Final message from me; Thank you all for and if any of you make it to the Bake Off tent for the love of God don't use matcha. You may like it but the judge(s) don't and there will only be one loser there!

Regardless of how you feel about the showβs first vegan/plant-based contestant Freya, it seems obvious that the show was not willing to let her use plant-based ingredients for the Technical Challenge. She was forced to use the same ingredients as everyone else.
I see debate in all these subs about Freya but not about the show itself. Why arenβt we pressuring the show to change? People arenβt actively criticizing or harassing the shows social media accounts. Why not?
Wouldnβt opening the show up to allow vegan contestants to use only vegan ingredients be a real win by everyoneβs definition?
Second, I bet 95% of the people in this sub are over the age of 19. And most of you were not vegan at 19.
I sure as shit wasnβt. I was a shitty fucking vegetarian who βcouldnβt give up cheese.β What were you?
And Freya probably canβt give up βa hobby she has likely done since she was a childβ. She is 1.5 years into being a vegan.
Stop gatekeeping the term. She is learning. You donβt know her, you donβt know what or how much she knows.
She might not even have known that horse back riding was not vegan until this blew up - seriously. I donβt think I did at that point in my veganness. I didnβt have any vegan friends and wasnβt in any social media groups. And she probably considered her horse something like a pet (yes I know, but this isnβt what I think, this is what someone who grew up riding horses might think ).
If you donβt have vegan friends or are spending all day in vegan subs, you could easily think vegan =food and leather and maybe wool? That is your idea of what a vegan is. You might not even know wool is bad. As a librarian, if Iβve learned anything, itβs that most people donβt want to research the hell out of something. They want the gist and they want to move on. This is not inherently bad.
She might even own a horse. She hasnβt been a vegan that long, sheβs young, and is saying she genuinely cares about the ethics.
So, good. Sheβs on our side. Sheβs not making that cowhide mushroom hat. We can educate her. But we donβt need to shame her. We can support her efforts as she goes on her journey.
I donβt blame her for following the rules of the show. I live in the US in an area where vegans are WEIRD. My sister, who actually lived in California and Seattle, once asked me βdo vegans eat chicken?β
If this show makes vegans more normal, or shows people you can eat food that is not just lentils and lettuce, or even that this is just a more βmai

GBBO is a worldwide hit and has absolutely zero drama at all. Mel and Sue used to swear in front of the cameras if someone cried so they couldn't use the footage. What it shows is the best of co-operation and competition. So when people succeed it's a genuine joy. When people fall down the other contestants rush to pick them up.
There is no reason a similar formula couldn't be enjoyed in Drag Race. I'd much rather see the queens happy and succeeding facing off against the best of each other, not pulling each other down because the producers have set up a drama for them
Messing with the girls is bad juju, and countervailing to the positive messages many of us want to see around Mental Health and the LGBT community, and I think until we get someone that understands British culture as head judge, we aren't going to get any better.
Thought I'd sticky a post since the sidebar is often overlooked.

UK
From people in the UK the episodes available to stream is the entire Channel 4 catalogue available on All4. This includes the Festive specials, SUTC charity specials, Junior specials, Professionals, and Extra Slice.
(Note that due to Love Productions being ridiculous any of these that previously ran on the BBC (prior 2017) are not available to stream in the UK)
The BBC run of standard episodes is available to purchase through the Apple TV service and Amazon Prime Video. (Currently Β£20 for Series 1-5, and Β£8 for the others)
No other way of viewing any of the prior BBC specials currently.

USA
From what I understand is that there are 8 seasons available of the main series and a selection of festive / SUTC specials (which ones specifically I don't know)
The seasons available are numbered 1 to 8 and The Beginnings. But it's not as easy as that since the numberings have been completely messed with.
UK Series No. | Netflix US Season No. | Judges | Hosts | Channel |
---|---|---|---|---|
1 | N/A | Paul & Mary | Mel & Sue | BBC |
2 | N/A | Paul & Mary | Mel & Sue | BBC |
3 | The Beginning | Paul & Mary | Mel & Sue | BBC |
4 | 2 | Paul & Mary | Mel & Sue | BBC |
5 | 1 | Paul & Mary | Mel & Sue | BBC |
6 | 3 | Paul & Mary | Mel & Sue | BBC |

10 | 7 | Paul & Prue | Noel & Sandi | Ch4 |
11 | 8 | Paul & Prue | Noel & Matt | Ch4 |
12 (Coming 2021) | 9 | Paul & Prue | Noel & Matt | Ch4 |
All of these series / seasons are available on US Netflix except for the first two Series which have been completely forgotten about for some reason.
So how to view the missing series as well as the specials that haven't been put onto the US Netflix.
VPN - A virtual private network that acts like a third party that can pretend to be a different country on your behalf. It's typically used to bypass region locks to watch shows that aren't available in your own country. It runs in the background and you can use it on phones, ipads, laptops etc (Not sure about consoles or TV's)
There are many out there like NordVPN, ExpressVPN (which doesnβt work on All4), Surfshark VPN, etc and most of them are pretty similar but I believe Surfsha

After recently rewatching the GBBO episode with the cast of Derry Girls, and thinking about how cohesive and wholesome the Ted Lasso cast is together, it's my new dream. It may mean that Jason Sudeikis and Brendan Hunt can't participate because they're not British, but we could have Brett Goldstein, Phil Dunster, Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, and Nick Mohammed! I think it would be perfect, especially for a holiday episode like the Derry Girls did.
The signature challenge was a dairy free ice cream sandwich! There was an orange ice cream I WISH I could try! Sounds amazing! Cheers to the show runners for bringing dairy free bakes to the public!
The technical was also dairy-free as it was >!Vegan sausage rolls!<
It makes me wonder if Brits succeed in European TV competitions?
A contestant mentioned her ADHD and dyslexia: https://metro.co.uk/2021/11/10/bake-off-2021-lizzie-inspires-with-neurodiverse-celebration-say-charities-15578795/amp/
I really enjoyed her creativity and personality, but it was painful to hear the judges saying she was βmessyβ and βlacked finesse.β That show needs to acknowledge that there are multiple ways to accomplish a given task.
Even the folk born outside the UK all live in England!
I've seen one or two around. It would be so nice for rewatches if the season poster had the cast on it so you could remember who was in that season.
Thanks in advance for any help!
I have been really into GBBO (or GBBS in the US) lately because it is so charming and relaxing, and I keep thinking how amazing it would be if they did a similar style of show for knitting. Then I learned about Blown Away and a few other similar shows and Iβm just wondering if anyone has ever heard of a reality TV show about knitting?
Last week we made the faced the hard realisation that after Free From week we will be Free From Lizzie.
We're at the semi finals and we have the most top loaded finalists EVER! Literally every Star Baker (along with every handshake, technical win except one) and has been awarded to the 4 finalists.
The previous record is 6 out of 8 from Series 6 and some others.
