A list of puns related to "The Grandstand"
During the All Out 2021 media scrum Tony Khan talked about Ric Flair and how much he meant to him as his email was TonyFlair@aol.com for a long time.
I just googled a bit and found some traces of his past internet activity...
Like this thread from 2006 about the AOL Grandstand, which apparently was a wrestling forum. Tony is directly mentioned here as one of the memorable users on there.
>I think now might be time for a reunion, those were some FUN days back in the 90's.
>We would get into a chat room and watch Raw or Nitro, and it would be like an episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000. So if any of you are on this board, make yourself known.

I also found this news report about the AOL Grandstand and that it was reportedly removed due to the WWF?!
>WWF Orders AOL Grandstand Folders Removed
> It wasn't a question of terms-of-service violation, it wasn't a question of obscenity. Ryder indicated it may have had something to do with the largely negative reaction of the Grandstand posters to the WWF's proposed weekly midnight pay-per-view. In other words, it was censorship, plain and simple.

I also saw this post here on Geocities, complaining about AOL and the Grandstand situation.
>AOL TURMOIL CONTINUES
>AOL's Grandstand Wrestling forum is still in a state of chaos. The problem began when several popular folders were removed late last week without notice. The folders removed include folders related to Afa the Wild Samoan, Pro Wrestling Illustrated, Blue Meanie, Sign Guy Dudley, Mortis, and Whoo (a folder dedicated to various independent promotions). Afa's folder was restored, and is now labled WSWF (Wild Samoan Wrestling Federation), but the other folders remain down despite hundreds of notes being posted protesting the removal. The folders were among the most popular sites on the service and Grandstand members reacted with outrage.

There's even a thread about the forum here on reddit from 6 years ago.
>One day without any warning, the message boards at Grandstand disappeared and it was like internet wrestling was killed by those evil bastards at AOL. Emails circulated among a few people from the community and the sky was falling.

... keep reading on reddit β‘Grabbed a pair of tickets in grandstand 1 for Montreal. Usually I just do general admission so very excited and curious how these seats are
So I recently picked up the Passing The Torch 1:64 2- pack at Concord Mills last week and I'm wanting to recreate that iconic moment, similar to the Kevin Harvick 1st win diorama I made a few months ago. I'm in search of some clear reference photos, and Google just provides close-up shots of the cars and not the actual track or where it took place on the track. Judging from what I could find via NASCAR's YouTube channel, I believe it was in front of the GEICO restart zone, but I'm not 100% sure, so I call upon the people of r/NASCAR for assistance.
I'm probably spending too much time worrying about this but what part of the main grandstand is the best to sit? Do I want to be right at the finish line? In front of the start? Should I be on an edge so that I can see some pit activity and maybe see a corner as well? I'm looking for the Spanish GP but I feel like this question could be a pretty universal across any circuit. Curious what you all think.
Also - can any fan come on to the track after the race to watch the champagne spraying and such?
So I have located a False Railing in Roxy Raceway, It allows me with a couple simple jumps to gain access to the far side of the area, where the grandstands are. The railing does not have any collision to it, and the grandstands area has 3 flashlight recharge areas and a bathroom. Also there seems to be a few areas with collision, invisible walls. There is also a spot where you can access the camera for the area. Feels like this is an unfinished area that may have been placed on hold for the release of Security Breach.
Also in this area, I can gain access to the racetrack, replay the Roxy event video, and fall into a Hidden Construction area. I've made a video detailing this, but don't know if it is acceptable to link here.
Covid-19 might stop the MCG being able to host the AFL grand final.
Listening to the cacophony of complaint last week about the game being slated to be played in Perth, rather than Adelaide, was mind-numbing to say the least.
While no one in South Australia wants to hear it, let me burst everyoneβs bubble: So long as there is a bigger stadium available, the Adelaide Oval will never host the AFL grand final. Never. Period.
The reason the AFL headquarters chose Perth over Adelaide has nothing to do with the Vics hating the Croweaters. Thatβs passΓ© rubbish.
Itβs a convenient distraction from the truth. Adelaide Oval isnβt completed. Itβs really that simple.
In case it has escaped peopleβs attention, let me point out the obvious. Thereβs a great big gap at the northern end of the oval opposite the Riverbank Stand where another stand should be. Itβs air space in need of being filled.
It is possible Adelaide Oval could end up hosting the grand final this year, but only because WA Premier Mark McGowan might shut down Perth again because of the Covid-19-positive truck drivers who have been discovered in recent days in Western Australia. That wonβt change the fact that the Adelaide Oval Stadium Authority needs to urgently address the unfinished business of finishing the oval and the gaping hole it creates in our complaints about not hosting the AFL grand final.
I have long argued that the grand final should be rotated around the AFL-playing states. It should be done that way as a matter of course.
While the MCG is a superb venue, thereβs no rule in the book of common sense that says the grand final must always be at the MCG. But I canβt part the sea either.
The AFL leadership have decreed that the GF will always be at the MCG and sure, while it is a constant reminder that the AFL grew out of the VFL, itβs the way the competition has been set up and it doesnβt look like itβs going to change anytime soon.
It took a bat, a pangolin or a lab experiment in Wuhan to get the grand final moved in the first place, and I canβt see anyone arguing that we want a global pandemic to happen every now and again in order to share the hosting of the final of the national winter game around the states.
Regardless of the pandemic, the vagaries of interstate travel, the rules around quarantine or the actions of state premiers, the AFL will always look to maximise the number of spectators through the turnstiles at every game, especially the grand final.
Sport is business. It
