A list of puns related to "Technical director"
Hey all! One of my regulars on Twitch turned out to be a co-op art technical director for Blacklist. Being a huge Splintercell fan, this blew me away because I loved the co-op campaigns for that game so much. To my surprise, he asked to play Blacklist on stream with me. (He has never streamed before).
Him and I will be playing this Wednesday from 8:30pm Eastern/6:30pm Pacific for two hours at https://www.twitch.tv/RonnieNeeley.
I wanted to invite y'all to stop by and ask him any questions you may have about Blacklist, game development, or any of the other games he's worked on (Gears 4 & 5, Watchdogs 2, and Far Cry 4: Shangri-La being the big ones). (He now works for The Coalition so doesn't have any information on any new Splinter Cell games, before you ask :P)
Him and I did a stream on the 16th for just my friends, they came at him with some really great questions and it was an incredible time chatting with him. Tons of background information that I never expected to hear. That stream kicked off with a discussion on the cigarette that an NPC is smoking at the beginning of the first Briggs mission, which my friend modelled: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1058537130
Hope to get some Splintercell fans in there this Wednesday since none of my friends had ever played it so weren't able to ask specific questions about it!
I'm thinking of applying for an internship next year as a technical designer or engineer but I'm not sure where to exactly begin. For starters, I'm a masters student studying computer and information science but my school does not offer any computer graphics course (which sucks) so I'm thinking of taking a technical animation course offered by my school but I'm not sure if that would be good enough. Anybody from cs background landed a job in pixar or other animation ?
I have been thinking about where I want to be in 5-10 years. I enjoy my position as a devops engineer and how great it is to be knee deep in solving problems. But I'm also really into learning how to manage people to maximize their potential while helping a business thrive. I feel most involved in my work when I can have a say in how we work around a task. I enjoy the process of collaboration with people as much as digging into the problem.
In your experience, what skills helped you get to where you are and were these skills hard to develop?
As the director is the person who makes decisions rather than arranging technical details, setting things up etc., are there moments when the director has nothing immediate to do?
Is that lonely or alienating, making the director feel like theyβre cut from whatβs going on around or worthless? How does a director stay focused?
