I recently discovered this song, Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue by Crystal Gayle, and I love the vibe it gives. It gives me imagery of a parlor/bar in the city during the Golden Years, with smoke swirling in the air and a beautiful, graceful woman dressed in flapper attire serenading her audience from atop a low stage lit with dim, rosy lights focused on her and the band behind her.
I tried looking at some of her other singles, but I'm getting more Celine Dion vibes from them. I can't for the life of me put my finger on what genre this is, and I don't know of any other famous artists who made music like this to look for, but I would love to explore it. Can anyone point me in the right direction with a song, artist, or genre that's similar to this song?

Have you ever captured yourself saying something in your sleep and actually used it in a song? Or, have your sleeping self at least spark an idea to your waking self?
Crystal went missing from our small Appalachian town with seemingly no explanation. This year made 10 years since she disappeared and they’re no closer to locating her or having any information about her disappearance. She was home alone in her apartment on the phone with someone when she said there was someone at her door and she’d call them back. After that she seems to have vanished.
All of her belongings were still in her home and she didn’t own a vehicle. She did battle drug addiction and was on anti depressants at the time of her disappearance.
Coming from a small town that likes to gossip I’ve heard my fair share of theories of what has happened to her ranging from sex trafficking to owing someone money.
10 years is a long time to not know where your loved one is.
I'm sure that many of you are familiar with the famous Kotaku Anthem article. That's the kinda thing I'm talking about. I know SOME things about game development and production, but only generally. I know literally nothing about Crystal Dynamics' process and struggles.
I wonder what they'd say. What it's like working with Marvel and/or Disney? What's in like working in Foundation Engine? How fast in communication in the office vs at home? Will Gex cameo in a later update?
I don't know that we could somehow make this happen, but perhaps it would be interesting to see if we could encourage something like that to happen.
