A list of puns related to "Sydney Carton"
In this case the 'tale of two cities' being NYC and LA. What if Don's ultimate act to redemption is similar to what Carton did in Dickens' classic? Wouldn't that be a great way for him to go out? Pretending to be someone else and having the courage and foresight to save someone. "It is a far, far better thing that I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far better rest that I go to than I have ever known."
Anyway, I love this show.
The scientist's name was Dr. Gilbert Stanley Bogle. He was 38 years old, in good health, father of four, and a researcher for the Australian government at the CSIRO (Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation) in Sydney.
Gilbert Bogle was found naked from the waist down, wearing socks, muddy dress shoes, and a dress shirt. Draped over his body was a two-by-three-foot piece of muddy carpet. On top of the carpet were his carefully folded blazer and trousers.
Less than 50 feet away, the police discovered the body of a Mrs. Margaret Olive Chandler. Dead, but still warm to the touch. She was 28 years old, a housewife, and mother to three children. Also, in perfect health.
Both the victims were married, but not to each other. Margaret's husband worked with Bogle at the CSIRO. The pair had met only a week prior at a work-sponsored Christmas party.
Margaret's clothing was disheveled. Bits of leaves stuck in her hair. Her slip was muddy, as were her knees and feet. The straps of her dress and bra had fallen down to her waist, leaving her bare breasts exposed. A soiled pair of men's underwear lay at her feet.
Like Bogle, she was also carefully coveredβwith the flattened cardboard of a discarded beer carton. (photo reenactment)
One of the detectives recounts the scene:
>βtwo bodies less than 18 meters apart, a male on the grassy bank, a female on the exposed riverbed, both half-naked and strangely covered, but no signs of violence." (1)
In the ensuing days, each body was carefully examined. There was a confounding absence of bullet holes, knife wounds, needle marks, signs of poisoning, or any other conceivable evidence of foul play.
This morbid New Year's Day discovery would ignite a decades-long homicide investigation that gripped the city of Sydney and furthermore the entirety of Australia. A newspaper-war fueled bizarre and tantalizing theoriesβa suicidal lovers' pact, undercover CIA assassination, secret death rays, LSD overdose, the list goes on...
And now, nearly sixty years later, we think we finally have an answer.
This is Season 4 of

A Tale of Two Cities (Book 57) - Review
This is the 12th book in my #ayearofdickens2021 challenge.
I started this back in October but I lost momentum a little due to other life commitments but when I returned to the book and fully immersed myself I loved it!
It felt much darker and more sinister than the other Dickens Iβve read so far as the comic characters constituted a much smaller part of the whole story.
The historical setting necessitates comparison with Barnaby Rudge (Dickensβ other historical novel) and there are definite similarities between the two. TOTC stands alone in its sinister nature however.
Anyway hereβs my attempt at articulating my thoughts:
βRECALLED TO LIFEβ
The bookβs beginning focuses on the phrase βRecalled to lifeβ. This is a theme that recurs throughout. Initially and superficially it is Dr Manette who is freed from his imprisonment and returned to the living world. He is recalled to life by his daughter Lucie, whose love brings him through his mental trauma.
The idea of rousing someone or something into life or action is an idea that appears in different guises during the whole story.
Jarvis Lorry finds fulfillment in a familial environment through his associations with the Manettes/Darnays and therefore his previously reclusive and business-orientated life is newly enriched. Jerry Cruncher reassesses his nocturnal activities and his attitude towards his wife after witnessing the events in France.
Sydney Carton is βrecalled to lifeβ, by his love for Lucie, and he sheds his lackadaisical manner to perform an act of great sacrifice for her and her family, through which he lives on in his young namesake. Charles Darnay is saved twice by Sydney Carton and escapes imprisonment and death to pursue his happy family life.
It could also be argued that the motivations behind the revolution recall France to life. The uprising of the peasantry and the horrors of the Terror serve as the crucible from which a new France will emerge.
THREADS OF LOVE/FATE
There are multiple ideas of threads flowing through the book. Lucie Manette serves as the βGolden Threadβ connecting Dr Manette, Jarvis Lorry, Miss Pross, Sydney Carton and Charles Darnay through her love.
In stark contrast Therese Defarge knits her threads of revenge, capturing the names of enemies of the revolution, those denounced or answerable for inherited crimes. The idea of being irrevocably trapped by fate or by circumstance is a strong theme here. Madame Defarg

This sub is mostly just NSFW puns now.
If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.
Edit* I'm not replying any longer and turning off notifications but to all those that say "no one cares", there sure are a lot of you arguing about it. Maybe I'm wrong but you people don't need to be rude about it. If you really don't care, don't comment.
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
