Or is it going to deploy throughout the day? Because if it’s the former I’m staying up for a midnight launch haha 😂

My son is in high school and has been playing for several years now. He still has a lot to learn, but loves playing (especially marching band), has great tone and, I think, has more talent that I do/did (I played trumpet through (Div. II) college and a little beyond).

Today my son got a message from the band director (who I like a lot and think is great) asking if he would consider trying the tuba. I understand that the band is short on low bass (1 trombone and 1 tuba), but this is the second time he's asked my son to switch instruments. Several months ago he also asked my son if he would be interested in playing french horn.

I don't know what to make of this. Is the band director implying that he doesn't have a future as a trumpet player? Does it matter which bands the director wants him to switch for (marching, symphonic, jazz, pep)? Am I reading too much into this and am living a bit vicariously through my son?

I want to give my son the best advice I can and I am unsure if my love of playing the trumpet is getting in the way of what is best for him (and the band).

UPDATE

We picked our son up from band practice last night and he told us that the band director talked to him about the request. There is a new and particular situation in which there are currently NO tubas. As most all of you thought, it was a compliment that he asked my son to do this as he thought my son had talent, skill and will enough to do it. He will also continue to play trumpet elsewhere. As such, we told our son it was up to him and he wants to try it out. Unfortunately, I can't help him out too much because I have no experience playing a tuba. I guess I'll go over to r/tuba and learn a thing or two!

I wanted to know if it's possible for a switch from HSC to NHS as a band 5 nurse. My dependent has a job opportunity in London and we wish to move to London and I'm afraid if that is possible. I'm have an offer aa band 5 in HSC. Idk if I should get in and try to switch or wait for an opportunity in NHS which seems unlikely with no experience. Nhs hires only people with atleast 1 year of experience currently. Maybe there is some specific time / bond period which we have to serve at hsc before moving? Anybody who has done this or any one who can give an idea on this could help. Thanks

I know Verizon plans to turn on C-Band later this year or early next year in the 46 PEA areas they were able to clear and I was wondering if AT&T had something similar in the works.
